and they are slim, with square jaws, and perfect suits. and what'his name Horatio makes me laugh with his ginger hair.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 22/01/2009 21:26

maybe I should have said Viareggio... but how's Torre Del Lago Puccini for a name!?!

Penthesileia · 22/01/2009 21:26

LOL at your straight-talking on that thread, Brange!

hothell · 22/01/2009 21:26

i do have a soft spot for horatio too, though

francagoestohollywood · 22/01/2009 21:28

Those forensic american progs are my pet peeve!!
We usually start the bedtime grandi manovre at 8 and they are usually settled by 8.45. Most of the Italian people I know are shocked because this is too early, and in the uk they were shocked because it was too late!

Penthesileia · 22/01/2009 21:29

NOoooooooooooooo HOTHELL! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Penthesileia · 22/01/2009 21:30

hey - we'll hit 1000 soon...

Brangelina · 22/01/2009 21:31

Ah, it's Orazio here. Sounds a bit better I think.

Penthe, I didn't say what I really thought, ie that the name has become chav central in the UK, albeit pronounced with a silent c. I've heard it shouted across car parks and shopping centres in Croydon and other such places. "Loooo'a gerrover 'ere you little shit so and so" is often heard, sad to say. Another name to suffer a similar fate after Eastenders in particular is Bian'a (also with the silent c).

hothell · 22/01/2009 21:31

PENTHEEEEEE! Is it about Lucca, Livorno, Horatio?

Brangelina · 22/01/2009 21:32

I had the same comments Franca. People used to look at me incredulously.

hothell · 22/01/2009 21:32

ORAZIO! That's ridiculous! lol

francagoestohollywood · 22/01/2009 21:32

I'm watching catherine tate on youtube

PippiCalzelunghe · 22/01/2009 21:33

brange remind me of your daughter's name pls? I remember liking it but now for the life of me I cannot recall - memoria a scolapasta here too.

Penthesileia · 22/01/2009 21:34

About Horatio (Orazio...), hothell! How can you have a soft spot for him?

He mings. Big time.

Brange - go back! Tell 'em what you think!

Brangelina · 22/01/2009 21:34

Nah, you get used to it. The other names are all in English, but I imagine it might have been difficult for the dubbers to get their tongues around Horatio...

francagoestohollywood · 22/01/2009 21:34

shall we call it MN little italy nipple tassels (tassles) or is it too risque?

OP posts:
Brangelina · 22/01/2009 21:36

It's an old Tuscan name, which sadly regained popularity in the fascist era, begins with an F and is warm.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 22/01/2009 21:36

or the scolapasta bug

Brangelina · 22/01/2009 21:37

Penthe, I would but someone would probably pull me up on the class issue. also, certain appellatives for certain social groups are not well received on generic MN. In other words, I'm too chicken.

Penthesileia · 22/01/2009 21:40

lol!

Penthesileia · 22/01/2009 21:40

nipples might attract the wrong sort, franca...

Sputnik · 22/01/2009 21:41

Franca, we could get all sorts of weirdos wandering in
Brang, I am none the wiser as to your DD's name after that.
Sunny, your DS is the same age as my DD

francagoestohollywood · 22/01/2009 21:42

, you reckon?

OP posts:
hothell · 22/01/2009 21:42

so you are a chicken and your dd a pecora, interesting!!!

odd isn't it, how everything comes down to class!

Ok, Horatio, mings big time, but he seems so fragile, and always so serious, you just want to give him a cuddle, and tell him it's allright and that mummy is coming back soon!

PippiCalzelunghe · 22/01/2009 21:43

Oh yes I did even comment then. Oh love it. didn't know it was a Tuscan name though. can understand why popular in those days .
