Benvenuti, ciao hello

OP posts:
monkeysmama · 20/01/2009 15:20

Rosa I made a victoria sponge this morning while dd was asleep and have eaten half of it already while watching Obama's inauguration.

Pippi and France thank you. Franca swaps sound great. What exciting English things can I send you? My email address is [email protected]

I am off to see my mamma who is cooking soup for me because me and dd have colds. Lucky girls

MM

Rosa · 20/01/2009 15:53

Brange - try putting halves of lemons on your radiators ( on tinfoil ) or boiling pan of lemon juice in water - it helps a bit with the smell.....want to type more minirosa has woken up after 2 hrs asleep in her cot thats a first !!!!!!!! ( apart from the night when we have 1 feed !!)

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 20/01/2009 16:17

not a fan of Pimpa here either... we have a Topogigio video in english - FIL got it at a boot sale I think not the same though as in italian...

brange, was going to suggest same as Rosa but using microwave... her tip is cheaper and greener though...

and DD eventually got up after half hour of calling us last night... she was up watching the count of montecristo with us, then fed a bit, and still took her a while to fall asleep... not going to mention her good nights anymore, every time I do she just wakes up again!

gio71 · 20/01/2009 20:14

brange thanks for the advice, yes I do have UK address which is what I put on invoices, I have a UK bank account where I am paid into and is all in sterling.
Ahh feel all warm inside after having an Obama day. What did you all think of the speech?
I have made rice krispie cakes with ds today to celebrate which I am sneakily working my way through - oh I love lyons golden syrup!!

francagoestohollywood · 20/01/2009 20:21

Monkeysmama, I'll email you.

I watched bits of the Obama day, as I had a busy afternoon... (though I shamefully admit I didn't take ds to his swimming lessons, mainly because I'm fed up with the cold )... but I had goose bumps listening to him. Tomorrow I have to go "in centro", I'm already looking forward to buying a copy of the Guardian and read everything about this fantastic day!

I liked the speech, maybe not as "stirring" as expected but thoughtful. And I kept thinking of Bush standing on that podium and how embarassed he ought to feel.

Brangelina · 20/01/2009 21:47

Haven't yet watched the speech as we've been out. The poor guy's got a lot on his shoulders already, what with the mess left by the last lot and the whole world expecting him to perform all sorts of miracles.

Thanks for the tip, lemons are on my radiators as I write.

Sputnik · 20/01/2009 21:51

Yes, he's bound to disapoint in some way, but it's nice to have a day or 2 of optimism!

francagoestohollywood · 20/01/2009 21:54

Sputnik!

I watched the end of Otto e mezzo on La 7 tonight. There was poor Veltroni and Vittorio Zucconi from Washington.
Then I watched 13 seconds of Ballaro' just in time to have a glimpse of whatshisface, the democristiano who's remarried to Azzurra Caltagirone? I mean our political panorama is depressing.

OP posts:
gio71 · 21/01/2009 07:14

Poor Veltroni I watched that too.Thought speech was great, feeling any anti-american feelings just melting away. There is no way he can deliver all everyone expects but I don't care, the bar was set soooo low by Bush & co that he has to do loads better by just turning up to the White House!
Did the lemons work Brange? Have stored that tip away for next fish cooking day.

Rosa · 21/01/2009 09:10

Veltroni - isn't he the one who bought a flat in N york for his daughter whilst she is studying there Plus 2 apartments in Bologna and 1 in Roma ? ( I might have mixed my politicians up here).
I saw only the highlights to be honest on the news - the borsa doesn't agree with what he said it dropped 4%! Mind you whatever he does it can only improve things !
Rain Rain - I am going to get wet later I know it - SIl came and sat with mini r whilst I walked dd1 to school . DD1 holding her own umbrella it took us twice as long she was so funny this umbrella on legs !
She has been invited to play tom pm - her first play date do you think I should leave her or should stay - I am not doubting my friends capacity to look after them but wonder what the right thing to do ???

Sputnik · 21/01/2009 09:16

Yes, why poor Veltroni?

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 21/01/2009 09:56

DD's decided it's too much fun waking up at nigth and keeping mummy and daddy up for hours.. I nearly kept DS home from school so we could sleep a bit more (we had a visitor last night so he went to bed veeeeeeery late)

lety · 21/01/2009 10:26

ciao a tutte!
c'è qualcuna che parla italiano???
a presto
letizia

Rosa · 21/01/2009 11:15

Ciao Lety Si tutti penso .... But generalmente we stick to English
Sunflower my dd if kept up late won't sleep late she just wakes at the same time and is a grumpy dd all day !!! Also if she goes to bed late she gets hyper - nightmare.
Dh gone to get dd1 hurrah so I must go and do lunch !

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 21/01/2009 12:08

Ciao Lety, as Rosa has said, scriviamo un po' misto! Benvenuta!

Rosa - she went to bed usual time... she just wanted to have a chat... added some pics on profile too

Rosa · 21/01/2009 12:23

aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh so lovely must post mine !

Brangelina · 21/01/2009 12:28

Ciao Lety e benvenuta. Sei nell'UK oppure in Italia?

Sunflower, I've been looking at those nappy sites you linked to. I should be packing DD's nappies up to sell but instead I want to buy more but alas have no baby to put them on. Maybe I should start using them on a teddy bear like that mad woman on another thread a while ago . I am a sad case aren't I?

Brangelina · 21/01/2009 12:30

Agree you should post yours Rosa!

Lovely pics. Is that Pumpkin nappy an all in one?

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 21/01/2009 12:38

that woman actually gave me advice on nappies!!!

the pumking one (pop-in), like the pink fairy one (itti bitty d'lish), though different brand, is an all in 2, as you snap the inner bits to the wrap (so it's quicker to dry than an all in one). And I'm sad too, I mean, I'm sad to think she'll grow out of nappies...

Brangelina · 21/01/2009 12:41

Yes, DD potty trained far too soon imo......

PippiCalzelunghe · 21/01/2009 12:57

Wow you are making me want to try them... it'll never be too soon to potty train for me (not that I'm looking forward to ponds of wee everywhere).

lety benvenuta.we all speak italian but we tend to chat in english per educazione I think. tell us all about yourself. I'm italian living in the uk with english dh and two DD.

Have I told you I am keeping a diary of how much I spend daily? My resolution was going well till I saw a bathroom thingy from M&S which we 'need' and booked the ticket to italy and paid for dd1 activities...

PippiCalzelunghe · 21/01/2009 13:04

PS: I have sent application form for Early Years teacher training course. feel organised and purposeful. (pippi doesn't mention that she's still wearing a swimmin costume underneat clothes because she was so disorganised that she did not make it to the gym!)

Also heard Obama speech on the radio, which somehow made it more emotional. what gave me goosebumps was the crowd cheering. It is a great time. I am happy for the dds to be part of this generation. Surely although it won;t take much to do better than Moron it's true that a certain section of people will ask and expect him to walk on water. But I am not focusing on what might happen to him the consequences would be unthinkable and too sad. Has anyone read his autobiography?

Sputnik · 21/01/2009 13:13

Benvenuta Lety

Lovely pics Sunny.
Pippi, you should give washables a try, I have saved a fortune with mine, especially as I'm now on DC2. Not to mention the environmental part.

PippiCalzelunghe · 21/01/2009 13:15

ups just bought the M&S thingy... oh well...
