Benvenuti, ciao hello

I'm hoping that as a former member of the Italian communist party he watches PaP as a way of 'knowing the enemy'.

Sputnik · 09/01/2009 16:45

Lol at tassles!
Whenever the temperature goes above 30 degrees here they roll out the stock footage of close up bums on beaches. Then will come a couple of seconds of tourists in fountains. Then more bottoms.

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 09/01/2009 16:59

LOL just seen tassles and bums... you are obviously talking about italian tv!! Mind you, I was shocked last year during the mini heatwave when, can't remember if BBC or ITV were interviewing young girls in skimpy bikinis, asking them stupid questions about the hot weather and what they were doing (doh! it's sunny, they're on the beach wearing a bikini... surely not sunbathing )

francagoestohollywood · 09/01/2009 17:00

Penthe, do you mean Michele Santoro? (It is not "knowing your enemy", tis the nipple tassels )

Sputnik ROFL at footage of tourists in fountains. It's typical isn't it

Sunflower, at the first sight of a heat wave (usually at around 25c ) people in Exeter start to dress as if they were on an exotic beach... so I can understand the beeb's confusion !

Ciao bella(s)

Sputnik · 09/01/2009 17:11

Franca, that-s cos they know that may be all the summer they-re getting that year.

Sputnik · 09/01/2009 17:13

Ciao Mars .
You-re only allowed on here if you-re wearing a nipple tassle you know.
Or a thong.

francagoestohollywood · 09/01/2009 17:29

I know Sputnik. I found it really endearing actually (but couldn't stand university type blokes dressed like surfers, a pet peeve of mine...)

Yes mars: have you got your tassels with you?? (hello btw. have you booked your hols?)

Rosa, I have just posted on a thread asking for good restaurants in venice. Thank goodness for my guida delle Osterie! I now want to go back to venice. And eat cicheti...

Right, you-re in

Rosa · 09/01/2009 20:51

Rosa clocks in for some sanity ...and finds the thread talking about nipple tassles / tassels and thongs ....mmmmmm Don't think I have any but would some curtain tie things do ??? I had themn for an old carnival costume and they are still round .
DD1 won't stop coughing and I just don't know what to give her she can't sleep and minirosa has a febbre of 38.3 ..think the virus has got to her as well...So much for bf stopping bugs !

francagoestohollywood · 09/01/2009 21:16

Oh no rosa ... don't know what to suggest for bad cough. Do sciroppi work? I'm told that there is a homeopatic (sp?) syrup that works, it's called Calumax (apparently snails are used to make it )
Poor dds !

OP posts:
Sputnik · 09/01/2009 21:44

Poor you Rosa. And obviously these things have to happen on a friday night. DS had a really horrible cough before xmas, he ended up with steroids then ABs, so keep an eye on it. Do you have the famous aerosol machine? You could give that a go.

Sputnik · 09/01/2009 21:52

Actually honey is surprisingly good for coughs. There was a study that showed it more effective than over the counter syrups.

francagoestohollywood · 09/01/2009 22:06

Yes, honey is good. When I was little it was hot milk and honey. I think now the consensus is not to get milk/dairy when you have a cold/catarro?

OP posts:
SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 09/01/2009 22:12

oh, Rosa, hope DDs get better soon... DS has always had the bad habit of getting ill on a friday night

ooops, haven't got any tassels/curtain thingys.. mind you, if I had any, they probably would be thrown up in the air by milk let down, and if I wasn't bf, then, well, they would be more of "empty-socks-breast-tassels" ... a boy and a girl, enough now, can start saving for boob job, after I payed the mortgage, the car tax, council tax, bills... maybe by 90 I'll have new boobs...

Penthesileia · 10/01/2009 10:35

Oh, Rosa! - poor little things! When I feel rotten with a cough and sore throat, I make a cup of just boiled water with several spoonfuls of acacia honey and the juice of a lemon. Seems to help me.

I really hope they get better soon. xxxxx

Rosa · 10/01/2009 13:14

Catch up ... DD1 had a terrible night coughing she spat out honey ( on the floor and then coughed the rest so I have honey splattered everywhere I just used baby wipes to get what I could up). Then at 6.30 am she threw up mucus ( sorry) and dh had jsut walked back in the door after going to work at 4 am .
Minirosa high temp took her to consultorio paed ( sat and sun) and oh what a great surprise it was our doc ...had only seen him on thurs with dd1. He was very unsure as if to admit minirosa or not as her temp won't go down under 38 . But she was alert looking round and threw a wobbly when he examined her. He hummed and haaad and then sent us hime with promise to take temp hourly and has given her a mild antibiotic . SO we get home at its 38.4 and 2 hs later 38.2....I have to call back at 16.00
On my return found dd1 with 38.3 so more tp for her but she ate some pasta in bianco a biscuit and half a pot of fruit ( those mousse things) she is now asleep as is dh and minirosa I have to temp take in 20 mins so staying awake ( well had 40 mins sleep last night so nothing new ). Thing is she is on antibiotics since thus pm for her autite so am a bit concerned as something is fighting back in her .
Hope you all warm its cold here but dry lovely day for a walk ! Sunflower I was going to hang my tassels off my knees about the same hight as my boobs

Brangelina · 10/01/2009 14:23

Oh no Rosa! It's horrible when they're all ill at once. If it's any consolation, abs are often ineffective for otite, which is probably why your DD doesn't appear to be getting better, not necessarily that her infection is particularly virulent. What work best are anti infiammatorie like ibuprofen if you've got any. I had loads of ear infections as a child and every treatment imaginable so much sympathy. Fortunately DD doesn't seem to have picked up that trait from me, or maybe it's only a question of time.

DD has also been slightly unwell, vomiting in our bed at 2am. What joy. She seems to be better today but I'm not sending her to a party at McD's this evening . Why do people have parties in McDs for under 5s? It's the worst place I could possibly imagine other than in the middle of a motorway, but then I'm heavily biased against the place.

Lol at the tassles and thongs! So so true. I also find that they tend to zoom in on topless sunbathers a lot in hot weather reports. No mean feat as there are never that many so they must scour the beaches to find that "casual" shot.

Sputnik, I'll email you. Sorry, not been around much, plus had DD off school for the day it wasn't snowing (school was open for the day it did snow though) so not much opportunity to get close to the computer in peace.

francagoestohollywood · 10/01/2009 15:03

Oh dear Rosa, your poor dds (and poor you) .
Our gp in the UK was quite cautious in giving antibiotics for ear infections (to be honest, I don't have an opinion on this one), but ibuprofen is def much better than tachipirina to take temperature down and to stop the pain. Let us know what the doctor says this afternoon. (also, with this flu I found very difficult to bring temperature down and it when it went down it went up again after only 1 hr )

Sunflower, a few nights ago I dreamt I was at a cosmetic surgery to discuss breast implants. I'm not kidding you

poor Rosa household! Let us know how you get on.
Lol at tassle talk.
Agree totally re McD's, especially in Italy the land of great food why why why go there!!!
With small kids!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 10/01/2009 18:04

oh, Rosa & fam, hope you get better soon... really cold here , and tree still up as by the time we got back from shopping, and had lunch etc, no time to start... why could children sleep all during the week, but are up first thing at w-end? aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrgh, was sooooo tired but dd wanted her feed and then ds came in our bed too (how I wish we had a kingsize bed...), and just wanted to jump and play and sing...

francagoestohollywood · 10/01/2009 21:14

Sunflower, so me and dh are not the only ones who are still sleeping in a small double bed?
Today, as the dc were at my parents', we went to view a few beds... but I can't find a bed I can fall in love with. Given that they are not cheap items, I will buy a new one only when I see something we really like.
I hope rosa's dds are better.

I wonder how happychappy and tantik are doing.
