Benvenuti, ciao hello

OP posts:
Sputnik · 05/01/2009 22:44

Just on the outskirts of Rome, not a very exciting or cool area I'm afraid.

Brangelina · 06/01/2009 00:54

Just briefly popping in before tootling off to bed to see what's been going on.

Lol at the bidet issue, and suppository aversion in the UK, not to mention the snot sucking. I must admit I didn't do any snot sucking myself, just the blasting out with saline and a syringe as advised by midwives and pediatri. I've tried suggesting it on here a few times but I think it was deemed too extreme for Brit sensibilities.

I've been feeling really weird lately, I keep having erotic dreams about Beckham now that he's local. I don't know what's wrong with me. I wonder if he uses a bidet?

On that note I really will bugger off to bed.

PS. Ooh, oooh Franca, guess who's on the cover of Vanity Fair this week?

PPS. I do love your ring Penthe, that's exactly the style I like. That or anything by Theo Fenell but sadly he's out of DP's (or my) range.

Befanasflower · 06/01/2009 09:19

buona Befana a tutte!!

DS got very excited to find his calza this morning, he's sure he heard the Befana knock on his door

francagoestohollywood · 06/01/2009 10:06

Ciao a tutte!!! e buona befana !
It's snowing, there are at least 10 cm of snow, and being holiday and not much cars around, it does look pretty! I took some pics, I will upload them as soon as I get more time (yes!!! the children are back to school tomorrow hurrah!)

Sputnik, fingers crossed for your new house, doing up houses is a stressing time, but also quite exciting!

I went sales hunting yesterday, and bought loads! 2 pairs of trousers for ds, a proper wool jumper for ds and one for dd, and a polo t shirt for ds. And a pair of trousers for myself. I now want to go to COIN and get some lenzuola for the dc's beds (I'd love some new lenzuola for my bed as well, as ours are all old ikea ones, but since we should buy a new bed - we are still in a una piazza e mezza bed - I won't buy new ones.... thing is that we'll never buy a new bed, as I'm put off by the price of those things)

Rosa, both my dc (especially ds) snacked continuously when they were as small as minirosa. They started to get into some sort of a routine when they were around 3/4 months. I think it is quite "normal" with breastfed babies. And good luck for Wednesday (both for a stress free trip and a good outcome for our minirosa)

Pippi have a lovely time in Italy.

Brangelina, who's on Vanity fair? Is it our beloved Scamy? I watched 2 movies with him on SKY when I was at the inlaws. I was still dazed for the flu, but OMG, he is gorgeous!

Rosa · 06/01/2009 10:31

Blimey remind me to get a new broom for 2010 guys..All that flying round has exhausted me . Plus boo sucks to those who left milk and dry pandoro and thanks to those who left wine and pasta frolla biscuits done by the dcs !!!
On a lighter note Minrosa did 10.30 - 06.00 - she woke at midnight nad a cry a cuddle and went back to sleep . I was leaking milk like a tap ( TMI sorry) she is still rather snotty so I might not take her on Wed as if she is a bit blocked up it could affect the hearing test - not going to go only to be told it won't work and have to go back again. Will decide in the am. Thing is will not be able to go until end of Jan as I need dh at home to get dd1
Well done Franca at the sales. I also want to hit COIN I only buy coin casa stuff in the sales and the linen is good. I have towels that are at least 8 yrs old and still in good shape. I want to go to a few more places for dds but I think all teh good stuff will be gone by the time I get there.
I wonder how hot is doing ?
Never thought of syringe for snot . Right better go need to get the tree down
Oh and SIL got DD1 a Mack ( from cars) oh what joy but hell it is telecomandato so she can't push it round so joy is short lived ..Trip to DIsney on the way me thinks as also in the box was the pick up truck which is not radio controlled so she has been pushing it round and parking it in the garage
No snow here yet think we might end up being missed but who knows !

francagoestohollywood · 06/01/2009 10:36

Lol rosa!
And well done to Minirosa for sleeping through (it is lovely when they do that )

Befanaflower, lol at your ds. My ds last year was convinced he saw Father Christmas' raindeers!

Right, I should get the dc ready as we are going to my aunt for lunch. Of course i now regret to have left all the vestiti da montanga at inlaws

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 06/01/2009 10:37

yes, I love coin casa.

OP posts:
Sputnik · 06/01/2009 13:04

Well despite our chat of yesterday I managed to forget today was a holiday, again! I think I have some kind of mental block.

Penthe I finally looked at your ring, wow! But most of all you brought back memories, Primavera is a lovely shop and I got a silver necklace from there with my first ever wages. Used to get ceramics for my Mum there too.

I strongly suspect our gas tank is about to run out (can't check, as it involves leaving kids inside and clambering around a bit), as the boiler is not working. Luckily the heating will run off the fireplace too but it's not that effecient, so brr. I'm a bit worried about being able to cook too.

Rosa · 06/01/2009 13:46

CRikey Sputnik not the time to be without gas. Our heating comes on at 06.30 and at 8am the temp in the kitchen had reached 16 another hr and it made 18!! I was walking round the house dressed as a yeti ! The wind is blowing a bit outside and it looks mega cold .
In reply Prenatal did not have any swings left only tiny wee ones like up to 8kg and I cannot get to the mainland to get one so we are still on rocking her in her chicco chair. WIll be a nightmare when I am on my own but I have the Baby bjorn and will resort to that.
Back to more decoration putting away house looks soooo empty.

Sputnik · 06/01/2009 14:24

Have to laugh as 16 is the normal temperature in our house. 18 is the absolute max! Right now it's 13.
We have high ceilings and it just costs a fortune to heat. Was much worse before we put in double glazing.
But I'm hard, me [shivers]

francagoestohollywood · 06/01/2009 16:48

13 . I'd be dead. But then I'm a weak soul

Brangelina I bought Vanity Fair

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 06/01/2009 17:03

Oh god. I long for a cool house [hardy Scot emoticon]. DH likes it absolutely tropical. Phew. I constantly have to sneak downstairs to turn the thermostat down.

So, who was it on the cover of VF? Now I'm interested!

Rosa · 06/01/2009 17:04

Lordy me I would be a jelly ice cube ( as I wobble and would not freeze over !). This house has the really old radiators in once they get up to heat they hold them in but they are under windows and behind doors so totally stupid places IMO. We have stupid Pavimenti Veneziani - sort of marble and they are cold underfoot.I live in Ug boot slippers.
I admire you living in 16 deg mind you if the gas prices do not drop then we just might have to.
All decs down and stuffed back on top of wardrobes. Need to hoover the cr*p up and thats it . Then need to start the spring cleaning / throw out.
Still no sign of snow here !

francagoestohollywood · 06/01/2009 17:24

him Penthe. Young Italian actor. I hope Moretti forgives me...

Rosa, I admire your organization. Our tree is still up. I wonder when we'll get to put it away. Probably by Easter...

OP posts:
Brangelina · 06/01/2009 20:46

Lol, our tree is still up too. I have decreed putting it away to be DP's job so it'll probably be here until next year. Unless it gets eaten by my daft cat before then, of course.

Brrr at all of you in cold houses. We currently live in the tropics, with centralised heating and old ladies that feel the cold meaning the thermostat is turned up to Maldives temps, though alas without the scenery. I used to live in an old, central heating-free house in the UK, with just a fireplace for warmth and we were all really crap at getting the fire going so it was cold (as in ice on the inside of windows cold). I even used to go out and get the coal in the snow in just my nightie and a pair of slippers. I think I'd probably die if I did that now.

I'm very impressed at your industriousness Rosa, when I had a 3 month old I was just getting to the stage of being able to put together a rushed sandwich. How do you do it? More importantly, how do you find the energy?

I'm looking for sheets too, wanted to go to Zara Home but couldn't face the hordes at the shopping centre. Mind you, lovely as they are their sheets tend to be a fluff magnet, with is not good in a house with 2 hairy cats.

Brangelina · 06/01/2009 20:47

I knew you'd be down at the edicola in a flash Franca.

francagoestohollywood · 06/01/2009 21:01

. He goes on and on about wanting to be a father. Doesn't it make you broody?

Ok, I'll try to get distracted by thinking about zara home....

OP posts:
Brangelina · 06/01/2009 21:28

Everything makes me feel broody at the moment. We'll have to ask Bucharest if she reckons he's father material. Are you offering your services then?

Did you hear about the new stupid law they've passed wrt canone Rai? I got a man come round to tell us that even if you don't have a telly but just a PC you have to pay the canone. Even if you only ever watch DVDs on the PC or you download foreign telly. Apparently the capacity to access RAI means you have to pay for it. DP's been investigting with Altro Consumo but apparently there's a loophole in the law that permits this. What crap! A friend of mine hates TV and has never had one but because she has a laptop for her job she has to pay the canone, even though she has no intention whatsoever of watching television. FFS, shouldn't they spend the time going after evasori who really rob the country? Like our old mate Berlusca's cronies?

francagoestohollywood · 06/01/2009 21:36

OMG totally forgot about the canone rai. When is it due? I remember being totally scared by the advertising in the UK on paying the tv license.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 06/01/2009 21:45

I don't when it's due but I have 20 days to pay mine or appeal against it, which is impossible because there are no grounds for appeal, such as not actually watching telly....

The licence fee ads in the Uk used to scare me too when I was younger - the ones with the van with the aerial on it. I actually believed they could detect unpaid for BBC but then I was young and naive. They were very quick too, I remember buying and old bw portable when I was a student (showing my age here) and by the time I'd got it home the licence people were already on the doorstep. I didn't mind paying the UK licence fee as a) there were no adverts on the BBC and b) there was actually something worth watching, unlike RAI, sadly.

francagoestohollywood · 06/01/2009 21:54

Yes, the van with the aerial!!! Scary. But yes, I didn't mind paying in the UK as well. I miss the bbc

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 06/01/2009 21:54

off to bed. Tomorrow ds is back to school. night!

OP posts:
Brangelina · 06/01/2009 22:02

'Night! DD is back at school too, although I don't know how she's going to get up in time. She's been getting used to 10am starts these last few days. Oh well, at least I can work from home this week, don't much fancy battling with trains in the snow.

Sputnik · 06/01/2009 22:26

Been wondering the same about my DD too. Back to the grind....

Brange, while I remember, you like DPAM stuff, right? I have a really cute DPAM dungaree dress I got for 2 euros 2nd hand. It was too small for DD, would you like it? It's plain grey, nice spotty lining and will only go back in the caritas bin otherwise, which I hate to do! Please say yes, I am trying to declutter here

PippiCalzelunghe · 06/01/2009 22:32

Our Pino (the tree) is outside the front door waiting for his mamma and daddy to pick him up to take it/him home to the forest .

EXPL: DD1 was devastated that he had to go and cried and hugged him for ages before she came to terms with it, only because she was going on holiday too so it made sense, and gave him a suitcase with 3 torroni and a handmade card from her and dd2. [bless] .

Rosa, did not make it to ikea but if you can wait till next week I'll def will go again. will ask yoiu when I get back.

ciao.
