Benvenuti, ciao hello

PippiCalzelunghe · 03/01/2009 23:31

same here bf...

Rosa · 04/01/2009 13:06

have posted !!! minirosa now full of cold poor thing. took dd1 to Benetton spent eu93 on the two of them and 30 in prenatal but I wasn't trying hard as was between feeds: Dh much better thank heavens ...It is going to be my turn next as am slurping out minirosa nose with Narinel pump thing better not post on another thread as I don't think they do that in the UK
Did not go to Coin scared I might do a Gio !!!!

gio71 · 04/01/2009 19:58

lol possible reaction re nose pump! I still remember the shock horror response when I mentioned on some thread that give ds suppositories (sp??) and take his temp via bottom! And my sister was visiting recently, had bad period pain and I suggested suppository and she looked at me as if I was no longer her sister .
Brits and bottoms....obviously some issues there....
Hope all you ill people are on mend. I am shoving vitamin c tablets down neck at the moment as so sick of feeling ill and run down. Been one thing after another.

francagoestohollywood · 04/01/2009 22:30

Lol. Gio, I think me, Hot and Brange once (or twice even) ventured on threads about suppositories . BUT I don't think I've ever been brave enough to mention on MN our beloved camomile perette for newborns!!!
I'm also still telling the paediatrician that we lived in the UK and therefore the kids aren't used to having their nose washed or doing aereosol.

Glad Pippi and Rosa tried to defend the virtues of bidets!

Gio at the Valentino bag

Penthe, I actually quite like the Prada bag

Lol at Sputnik's dh and math books.

Rosa, poor minirosa. I hope you'll survive the flu

Penthesileia · 04/01/2009 22:42

MIL's bag is indeed so grotesque as to be desirable. Rather like her wardrobe full of fur coats. I was when I saw them. Italian ladies in fur coats was a big cultural shock for me!

Is it a snot-sucker, Rosa? I have one of those for DD.

LOL @ franca being the defender of and fount of knowledge about bidets!

I might venture onto that thread eventually...

Rosa · 05/01/2009 08:49

yep snot sucker ...never thought of it in those exact words . She is still snotty but I think bit better. We have her follow up ear test on wed as she failed it after she was born .Have to hike to Mestre either drive change car seat straps etc get lost probably have fun parking.Or battle for a seat on bus with Veneziani hurrah looks like wed will be a fun day.Since dd1 all my bags seem to be cross shoulder types boring .I stood on the scales this am and went into depression. With dd1 put on weight bf but with minirosa it is incredible also we are not in any routine yet she snacks too much ....AAArrrggghhh I will not revert to Gina Ford !

Befanasflower · 05/01/2009 10:44

same here, Rosa, big bags since DS... though I've recently got a nice leather like big bag bith both handles and straps which is great, so less frumpy... and GF wouldn't really work with DD, who seems to be allergic to sleep in the day...

was just thinking the other day about differences re supposte and perette between italy and uk, never heard anyone mentioning them here really, where it's the norm in italy...

Sputnik · 05/01/2009 11:07

Give me tachipirina supposte any day over additive-filled calpol!

Sputnik · 05/01/2009 11:16

I was doing the big bags thing but I hate them (my shoulders go stiff) and I recently went to the other extreme with a bag about the size of a binoculars case that holds wallet, phone, keys, lip balm and teething gel. It is so liberating, not least cos I can find everything. All the child related stuff goes in a bag on the pushchair.

I got my bag for 5 euros "vintage" from the second hand stall, it's leather and really nice

Rosa · 05/01/2009 13:08

Do you guys do the whole Befana caboodle ?? As SIL is really in to it for the girls. I got her dc a Kinder calza and thats it .... DD1 does have some prezzies left over from Christmas poor minirosa has none. Now about that alergic to sleep babies during the day ...Minirosa suffers from that and snack attacks!

Sputnik · 05/01/2009 13:13

No Befana here, DD hasn't noticed so far.

Befanasflower · 05/01/2009 13:40

recycling Halloween sweets and adding kinder egg and clementines in old kinder calza (DS is not really into sweets, or fruit and veg, but hoping he'll eat the clementines as they're brought by the Befana...). only done it for the past 2 years as we were in Italy 2 years ago and took DS to see the casera, where a Befana gave him the said calza and toy, and then she visited us the following day at traditional "cousins" meal at my parents. I loved receiving the carbone, not a sweet tooth but I loved that! but we only got nuts/torroncini/clementines/carbone when we were little, toys/presents only for xmas.

It'd be nice though to have it in UK for extra holidays....

Rosa - we've just finished 4 month growth spurt I think, so no snacking for now and feeling much better...

Rosa · 05/01/2009 13:51

so I have another 2 mths left ....AHHH if I go out and leave her with dh she has no option but to whinge / be cuddled, but with me I pick her up and its a nightmare just to cuddle her without having to resort to milk - I know its a comfort thing as well but I then loose track of when she has eaten 'properly' and when she is due a feed.It was easier with formula as you knew where you stood...NOt planning on reverting but it would be easier just to understand it all !!!
Like now she ate I thought well at 13.00 she has had a nap in her chair and is now crying I know I will go over and she will want to suckle !!
Phew re the Calza as am not running out to get her dc a present ...( Rosa heads to the dog box as regards SIL)

Sputnik · 05/01/2009 15:23

Aww Rosa, hang in there.
Things should start to get easier soon, at least for me around 3 months was when things started to drop into place. Did you think about getting a swing? They are brilliant for whingy babies.

Befanasflower · 05/01/2009 16:10

Rosa, the wrap sling has also been brilliant for me, have you tried one?

gio71 · 05/01/2009 18:12

We have been to Piazza Navona to get stuff for calza today for ds who is oblivious and spent a lot of time and energy choosing sweets that are not suitable for ds but that dp and I like .
Another vote here for tachipirina supposte rather than calpol, apart from additives its a million times more effective! Any news on house hunting Sputnik?

Sputnik · 05/01/2009 20:38

We're waiting for some estimates for doing the place we like up, then we'll probably make an offer. Was Piazza Navona heaving?

Penthesileia · 05/01/2009 21:09

Che cos'e tachipirina supposte?

Penthesileia · 05/01/2009 21:10

Is it like aspirina C - yummy!

Penthesileia · 05/01/2009 21:11

Or are they suppositories?

Less yummy.

Befanasflower · 05/01/2009 21:23

never tried eating one!! yes, they're paracetamol suppositories!

Penthesileia · 05/01/2009 21:29

Wow!

Penthesileia · 05/01/2009 21:31

Must ask DH if he's had paracetamol up his b-t-m...

Fewer e-numbers, I expect!

Penthesileia · 05/01/2009 21:32

Fewer e-numbers than Calpol, I meant!

PippiCalzelunghe · 05/01/2009 22:21

must admit I've never used them for my dcs. must ask mum when I go. I'm off on wed so don;t worry if I disappear for a week.

I wonder how hot is...

sputnik where's this place again?
