Benvenuti, ciao hello

OP posts:
gio71 · 02/01/2009 09:27

at ring from me too! How lovely. I am doing a stupid o'clock flight in the morning in feb back from uk and am dreading it! No choice tho, flights to North West are limited so unless pay hideous amounts with BA or Alitalia AND have to change for the privilege its early mornings or nothing.
Fireworks and snow Brangelina, very at that as well. Would love a bit of snow

Penthesileia · 02/01/2009 10:13

I too want snow!

Are flights now that expensive? Sheesh... Haven't been out to Italy since last Christmas...

The ring looks a bit like this, only the emerald is square cut and longer and greener (IYSWIM), and the gold band is more slender.

I was very initially, and wondered which of his organs he'd sold to afford it. How of me - ungrateful wench. But he assures me he'd saved for it, which (knowing my DH!) makes it even more special. He always gets me exquisitely nice presents (I assume this is because he is Italian and has good taste: beautiful necklaces, earrings, handbags, clothes, etc.) - but this was something else! I am so lucky... I keep reading those 'what did your DH give you? I got toilet roll, or something' threads, and feeling at some DH's lack of thought.

Rosa · 02/01/2009 12:58

We had snow --tee hee took dd out in it yesterday am but it was starting to melt and was slushy. Apart from seeing it in the distance in the mountains she had never walked in snow it was actually very funny when she put her foot in it. She then put her hand in it and her face oooohhh che freddo mamma!!! I have pics as well .
I am fine I am a bit dizzy every once in a while not sure if its the virus hanging on or the fact that dh has the flu so I am shattered . It is the flu ( DAMM , BLAST and all that) he is confined to bed and looks like Sh*te big time. I am trying to keep dds away from him but we live in a flat FGS. So I am filling dd1 with live yoghuty and fruit. Same for me and just hoping !
No cenone for me as dh was starting to feel rough and he should have been working on the 1st .
Lucky you with a the ring . I got a wii fit and a nice gold pendantI had one that was gold plated sort of chunky and wanted a . The wii fit is still be in the box ( have I already posted about that ????) replacement but I got a gold one instead .
Right have to get dd1 to nap as she is going to neighbours this pm as I have to race like a loon to the docs to get Dh certificate and get it faxed to the commune before 5pm Or we could be fined . Thank lord his doc was working today !!!
Vado I wonder how snowed in Tantik is !!!

francagoestohollywood · 02/01/2009 13:10

Lol Penthesileia . And at the beautiful ring.

We spent years waking up at stupid o'clock, because there weren't many flights linking Bristol to Milan. ANd we also had to drive all the way from Exeter. We tried and tested all the possible combos. Needless to say, that I now miss those trips...

Sputnik, I now remember that at some stage in my parents house there was a bottle of "Amaro dei carabinieri"... will look out for it, you could sell bottle and calendar together

francagoestohollywood · 02/01/2009 13:14

Oh dear rosa, here are good vibes from me to stay fit and healthy, because this flu is evil .
I still can't feel any flavour in my mouth and have earache.

Yes, I wonder how tantik is doing in the snow! Dh and ds came back yesterday from their days on the slopes looking happy and healthy. They had around 1.5 m of snow !!! It must have been magnificent, I'm both sad and envy that me and dd missed it (she is not that bothered, but I am!!!)

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 02/01/2009 20:12

Ooooooh - now I really want snow. 1.5m!!!

That flu sounds monstrous, franca. Urgh. Fingers crossed no-one else gets it...

Rosa - your DD sounds so cute!

Hey - ladies with Italian husbands... (most of you, I guess, LOL)... Is your DH more PFB about your DC than you are? My DH is totally mad about DD (not that I'm not, of course!), and everything for her has to be perfect, and super-duper quality, etc. (cue me, hunting high and low on the internet for all manner of expensive baby stuff - cashmere suits, etc. You get the picture). Anyway... Was wondering if this is an Italian daddy thing, or just my DH...

PippiCalzelunghe · 02/01/2009 20:29

Penthe my DH is english and was is exactly the same with dd1. now with dd2 he realises that not everything has to be top quality and things can be hands me downs etc. It's about PFB I think...

Befanasflower · 02/01/2009 22:07

Penthe, DP is Italian but born and bred in Yorkshire, so he's actually quite a mix culture-wise as he didn't spend time in Italy really. with DS, it was PFB, but we never went overboard! But with DD... it's like she's made of glass, worst than PFB at times!! and she's quite a fisty little thing!!

Penthesileia · 02/01/2009 22:28

LOL. Ok, then - combination of PFB and daddy's little girl maybe?

I just know I'm going to be 'bad-cop' when she gets older... Sigh.

Rosa · 03/01/2009 13:20

My Dh wanted everything for dd1 but he was pretty realistic - also I did/ do most of the buying we went to the USA at 5 mths pg and came back with a case full for her first 9 mths!He likes both to look good and he does spoil them a bit when he goes out however we are not at the cashmere levels here. This am for example he gave me extra dosh as I was going to get shoes for dd ok in saldo his words ( mid coughing and spluttering) Prende solo belli - meaning Naturino or similar . Good job a she has jumped 2 numbers and I went to get her boots as madam wants to wear skirts and ended up buying her shoes as well !!! Thank heavens for saldi ! He is coming out of the woods today no febbre just a terrible cough , full of yuck and still looks like he has been hit by a bus !
I tend to buy dds clothes in saldi in Italy or in the UK to be honest as we would not be able to keep up with the Jones if you know what I mean!

francagoestohollywood · 03/01/2009 15:04

Hello!
Penthe, dh is Italian (though he lived in the Uk for 14 yrs...) and totally unPFB. He also has no interest in "shopping" or the quality of things (couldn't tell a cashemire jumper from a man made fabric one). Which occasionally pisses me off, since I actually happen to like nice things...

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 03/01/2009 15:06

Me and Sputnik have been on a thread about bidets. I still can't believe that bidets can be so controversial in the uk

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 03/01/2009 18:16

I haven't dared join that thread. Passions run too high! Needless to say, we need one in our house. My FIL has a portable bidet he uses when he comes to stay with us [boak]. We're definitely going to install one when we re-do our bathroom.

Befanasflower · 03/01/2009 19:13

bidet!! couldn't live without and we installed one as soon as we moved in (well, thr house needed complete refurb so wasn't a problem but I know we will probably have to re-do the bathroom in next house }

glad illnrsses are on their way out

Befanasflower · 03/01/2009 19:14

sorry about typos... lefthanded/onehanded....

francagoestohollywood · 03/01/2009 20:17

lol at portable bidet!!!
Befanaflower, we didn't redo the bathroom, so I had a trusted plastic bowl to use as a bidet

OP posts:
Befanasflower · 03/01/2009 20:49

had plastic bowl in previous flat and here til we fitted the bidet! better not comment on that thread - I have very strong views about it.

when my aunty found out no bidets in UK she said " e cosa fanno dopo aver c*to? che schifo"

e restando in tema...

gio71 · 03/01/2009 21:01

just been reading bidet thread as was intrigued. at suspicious anti bidet brigade.
been to sales today, found myself in Coin and handing money over for a valentino bag without knowing what was happening.... my thinking is , if I have a snazzy bag it will distract from fact rest of clothes are old and tramp like no??

PippiCalzelunghe · 03/01/2009 21:37

yes gio this is the way I think sometimes... however I think I just end up looking like a tramp with a nice bag (full of nappies, toys, wrappers, etc)

must read the bidet thread, but won't post... I've stopped posting on other threads long time ago... feelings run always too high for my taste about every triviality. didn't know a bidet could be such a controversy though. we had one put in this house and dh had one in his previous flat.

Penthesileia · 03/01/2009 21:37

Clearly all you people with your plastic bowls needed portable bidets too!

Ooooh - any pictures of the bag?

My MIL got an awesome blackmail bag from FIL last year. Prada with some seriously bling hardware (dragon's head). I was so: oooooh. DH was like "yuck, it's vulgar". I guess it was, but I still would... She never uses it though, as all the chains etc. make it too heavy!

Penthesileia · 03/01/2009 21:40

It was this!

Maybe one day I'll inherit it?...

Sputnik · 03/01/2009 22:23

That dragon bag is hideous

Re the pfb thing, my DH leaves the clothing of the DCs in my hands, but he used to do things like buy maths workbooks for DD when she was 2. I think he is finally getting over that!

Penthesileia · 03/01/2009 22:29

Hideous and extremely heavy.

LOL @ Sputnik's maths genius baby! Cute!

PippiCalzelunghe · 03/01/2009 22:29

I did post in the bidet thread, couldn't help myself .

Sputnik that is me. I buy books for DD1 that she won't be able to read till she's 18 and teach her alphabet and writing etc. luckily for me she enjoys it and she obliges.

Befanasflower · 03/01/2009 22:54

keeping an eye on the thread again, but no, can't post, I'd go too mad at some comments... just read some to DP (who never used one before visiting my parents in Italy and then got our own, and now completly converted) and he was very ("yuck, you know what bidet's for" type commets, well, what about the toilet next to it?!?! - oh, no, you see, I'm getting in a state already, must stop this now...)
