Benvenuti, ciao hello

Oh well I've checked other airlines and they all charge even more than that for infants. Do you remember when it was just 7 pounds 3 years ago. what can possibly justify this mega increase if not trying to recoup the money lost from the slashed prices! very annoyed.

ChristmasFlower · 30/12/2008 09:48

hope you get better, franca and rosa!

I had a look yesterday to go to italy for half term. Ok, I know it's half term, but £663 for 1 adult, 1 4yo and an infant with easyjet is just bloody ridiculous - £330 with BA for same fligths (Gatwick to venice)... might have a look at ryanair to treviso or trieste... but that means also 2-3 hour drive to stanstead (as suppose to 30-40 mins tops to gatwick) so we really loose 2 days in travelling out of a week's holiday.... will need a moth to recover travelling with 4yo and baby afterwards as it is!!

just want to go and intrduce DD to everyone and meet my friends' babies (plus heavily pg friend...)

PippiCalzelunghe · 30/12/2008 11:26

I don;t know what we are going to do with going over to italy when dd1 starts school. As you say it is sooo expensive going during the holiday and also I have two places to go...

francagoestohollywood · 30/12/2008 16:18

Hi there,
feeling much better today, at last. Still have no appetite (weird) and feel dizzy after being active for more than 5 minutes.
Rosa, I hope you are already feeling better.

One of my fav website in the uk is nordickids, though I bought only once off it, as it is blody expensive.

Gio, I'd buy a good quality precotto.
Lenmtils: gently fry chopped carrots, onion, celery and garlic and bay leaves in olive oil. Add lentils. Add water. Add 2 tablespoons of passata di pomodoro. salt and pepper.

Snap with Nordickids Franca!
DS had a gorgeous bodysuit from them when he was a newborn, but not been back since.

Glad you're feeling better Franca

Sputnik · 30/12/2008 17:00

Not a huge selection but some nice things for adults and kids here, all ethical bla bla

gio71 · 30/12/2008 17:02

ooh thanks Franca and glad you're feeling better. How much water do I add? (never cooked lentils before as you can probably guess )
Precotto is bought. Least complicated route way forward.

francagoestohollywood · 30/12/2008 17:56

Thanks Sputnik . Awwwww your ds must have been adorable in one of those outfits!

Gio, depends on the quantity of the lentils. Start with one liter, you might need to add water as the lentils are cooking

And talking on piosh websites, friends living in Amsterdam got me hooked on this. Luckily, you can't buy from it. So, it's just "guardare, ma non toccare" which is more or less my philosophy

Poor Hothell, hope you feel better soon. Happy New Year everyone!

Sputnik · 31/12/2008 11:24

Blimey, just got a ring at the citofono, it was the carabinieri! Went down all worried and leaving bawling DCs, to find they just wanted to deliver a calendar! I always wondered what you have to do to get a carabinieri calendar, I must officially be a pillar of the community! (it's DH's fault, he did a denuncia when he got robbed on the train and made friends with them).

francagoestohollywood · 01/01/2009 10:42

at Sputnik carabinieri calendar!!!!!

Hot, hope you are already feeling better. It is tough (I still have no appetite). Glad you are enjoying the book and faith restored in the italian mail system!!!
Could this be the beginning of our bookswap thingy?

HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all xxx

Do you think it might be worth something on ebay?

Buon anno everyone btw

ChristmasFlower · 01/01/2009 19:09

Buon anno a tutti! hope you all had fun, even if ill (DH & I missed 4 NY eves in a row because we were ill once.... then last year because I was pg, and this year because of baby and no friends round....), hope you all get better quickly

off to get DD ready for bed (well, DH is, but he's calling for sleepsuit etc...)

Befanasflower · 01/01/2009 20:11

name change...

PippiCalzelunghe · 01/01/2009 20:35

LOL

PippiCalzelunghe · 01/01/2009 20:38

DH and I had lovely romantic dinner at home, the DDs went to bed at 6.30pm (shattered from late night day before - trick to remember for future methink... ) and we had time to scrub up and relax. asleep before midnight as usual though .

wish you all the best for 2009 and another year of happy chit chat here and the hope that we will all meet up soon.

Brangelina · 01/01/2009 22:31

Buon Anno! We did nothing ourselves either, were supposed to be having DP's friends and their 2 teppisti children around but they'd had a tiff and decided not to come so I made us a nice meal and we watched the fireworks and the snow throught the window.

Lol at the carabinieri calendar, where I worked once we'd printed it and I remember wondering who on earth would buy one. Apart from carabinieri themselves, that is. Apparently they're collector's items so hang onto it for a couple of years and it might be worth something. Hmmm I did a denuncia at the police station the other day and never got offered a police calendar. Maybe the carabinieri are more generous.

Just spent loads on Amazon, finally able to use a new credit card after I had to cancel the others when I got pickpocketed. What frustration, low £ and sales online and no credit card to shop with. Arrgh!

Penthesileia · 01/01/2009 22:49

A very belated Buon Natale , and Buon Anno to everyone!

Franca - hope you feel better soon. You too, Rosa.

Sputnik, is the calendar a naked one?

Had a nice Christmas - we were in the UK for the first time in 5 years (previously in Italy). My dad came (minus the stepwitch, thank god), which was lovely. I incinerated cooked a goose. Do not believe Nigella in all matters is what I have learnt this Christmas.

Got a huge emerald ring from DH, which was a massive surprise. He bought me a stocking and put the ring and a CD I'd asked for in it. Of course, I found the CD first, and was delighted, but he told me to keep looking, and right down in the toe.... . It's far too lovely. I feel very lucky.

DD has been a wee star - smiling and enchanting everyone.

I feel very bright at the start of this new year. Hope it lasts...!

Befanasflower · 01/01/2009 22:50

feel a bit better that we weren't the only ones at home especially when my best friends in italy were all up in the mountains celebrating ... I'd prepared lasagne with prosciutto and leaks for today, so was quite full from "cleaning" the besciamella pan last night... so no romantic dinner, but we opened some bubbly at midnight...

decided not to go to italy in feb, just too expensive unless I come back with the 6.20am flight!! 4yo and 5mo to get ready aat 3am... don't think so! maybe easter...

PippiCalzelunghe · 01/01/2009 23:12

befanaflower the only flight for me is at 7.30 which means that on wedn I would have to get up at 4 with kids, leave car at long stay, put baby and winging toddler on pram in darkness and freezing temp plus luggage, dd1 furry trolley, handluggage, baby's bag etc...

instead for an extra 20pounds I have treated myself to Vallet Car park... (feel very exclusive ).

going to bed now!

Penthe we want to see it!!!!

Brangelina · 01/01/2009 23:29

at the emerald ring. I luuurve emeralds. That must have been a lovely surprise.

I once got diamond rings 2 years in a row from DP and I remember being a bit disappointed at his lack of originality the 2nd year. All my presents since have been DVDs and face creams. That'll teach me.....
