Nope. Haven't got the co-ordination!

flamesparrow · 17/03/2005 09:27

I'll send a text at traffic lights but nothing whilst moving

absolutely not! Sorry!

Lonelymum · 17/03/2005 09:31

No I have a hands free set though, unless I set it up and put the ear piece in before starting the journey, it seems more of a hazard that just holding a handset in one hand and talking for a few minutes!

I have to say I am disgusted by how many people I see using their mobiles whilst driving. If I make a point of looking, I see at least one person every time! Also, so many people who don't strap their kids into their seats STILL! I suppose that isn't the crime of the century, but it amazes me how many people carry on regardless of the law.

JoolsToo · 17/03/2005 09:33

absolutely NOT!

JoolsToo · 17/03/2005 09:33

never did in fact

RudyDudy · 17/03/2005 09:41

Never and get v. when I see people on theirs. Think it is really irresponsible and frankly quite arrogant.

Freckle · 17/03/2005 09:44

Yes, but only if DS1 can answer it for me! If alone, I ignore it.

crunchie · 17/03/2005 09:45

Hands free only

TinyGang · 17/03/2005 09:52

No and never did cos I always thought it was dangerous. In fact I can't really do anything else the same time as driving - don't have that much co-ordinaton! I'm not a big fan of mobiles anyway and only use mine sparingly.

I saw a man weaving all over the road whilst on his phone this week and it was right outside dd's school Very very stupid thing to do imo.

beatie · 17/03/2005 09:57

Nope - and I never did it before. I get really angry when I see people doing it. It is very often people in vans, lorries and 4X4s - the biggest vehicles, likely to cause the most injury, even if they aren't going that fast.

What do you do if you see someone using their mobile in a car?

RudyDudy · 17/03/2005 09:58

Usually glare in a 'I really think you should stop doing that but please don't get out of your vehicle and confront / stab me' kind of a way

Caligula · 17/03/2005 09:59

I never did in the first place.

Lonelymum · 17/03/2005 10:01

You could try memorising their number plate and phone the police with it. We once were overtaken by a looney in a 30 mph zone who then nearly hit someone oncoming and had to swerve into a side road to avoid them causing skid marks on the road. Dh and I memorised his number plate and dh rang the police when we got home. I don't expect they did anything (the driver turned out to live in our street and I saw him many times always driving too fast) but they certainly didn't dismiss the information. If more people informed on petty law breakers, there might be less of them in the long run.

NomDePlume · 17/03/2005 10:29

Nope. Although I do text at traffic lights, but I'm not moving then. I just ignore the mob if it rings when I'm in the car.

FWIW, I still see loads of people talking on phones in cars. It really did reduce massively when the legislation was first bought in, but I have to say that I have really noticed the numbers creeping back up . Since the legislation, I do see lots more people pulled over in bus-stops, laybys etc on their phones, than pre-law.

beatie · 17/03/2005 10:49

lockets - how scary for you. I once witnessed a woman reversing around a corner - out of a side road into a main road - driving a BMW X3 with one hand whilst talking on her phone with the other

If I see a company van doing it in future I could ring up the company and suggest they give all their drivers handsfree sets.

PrettyCandles · 17/03/2005 10:51

Would here anyone actually admit to doing it? I don't, and never have done. But, who knows, maybe I would have if I had had a mobile before I had children (actually, I did, but never used it). Having children changes your perspective.

flamesparrow · 17/03/2005 10:51

Thankyou NDP - was starting to think it was just me

WideWebWitch · 17/03/2005 11:32

I do but only with a headset. That's ok, surely?

Gobbledigook · 17/03/2005 11:33

Never did so, no I don't. Absolutely ridiculous imo and it makes me soooo mad when I see people on their phones while driving - especially while turning corners and things one handed - stupid people.

piffle · 17/03/2005 12:09

No absolutely not, I never have and certainly would not after my great Uncle Harold was killed after being run over by a mother of two toddlers while on her phone in the town centre.

lou33 · 17/03/2005 12:18

i can't drive, but i see people using them all the time still
