still cannot believe that is our little chap that thi shas happened to.

apparently the dog flipped out because of a musiacl bit of play equipment...which little dnep happened to be jumping on.

teh bigger children jumped away...but dnep wanst quick enough.

the dog picked him up by the leg and shook him for what my bro says was six or seven seconds.

by which time my sil pulled the dog off....felt hot patch...pulled his jeans down and saw terrible damage

teh ownwer apparantly said 'he's not a dangerous dog' over and again....,.DERRRR NEWS FLASH!!!

having been around he/the owner then somehow made a dash for it with the dog...and was obviously pursued by my bro ,some friends and other bystanders...i think he was arrested?..not sure but the police are def involved.

dnep is in hosp and will be for days...very deep wounds on his leg...three hrs in surgery to clean up....on morpheine...all zonked...poor sil with him.

this man must be a moron...a fing cnting moron to not be able to update his opinion of his dog given what he witnessed....un bel ievable

hmm- not convinced that "90% of dogs that attack usually go for the face, throat or arms". IME they go for whatever bit is nearest! And this dog did NOT just bite a "young child on the ankle"!!! I doubt that would have made the press. This particular dog grabbed a toddler by the leg and savged the limb- this doesn't sound like aquick nip on the ankle to me. Sorry, but IME this IS typical of a dangerous dog

I have to agree with you MrsWeasley. One of my yorkies is a rescue dog, I believe she was mistreated by children while with her previous owner as it used to shake just at hearing children playing outside or growl from a corner if one entered the room she was in.

She doesn't do either of those things anymore, she has been carefully trained and she has not attacked anyone in the 9 years she has been under my care. She has been as soft as a toy with DS. Even with all that evidence I would never ever leave her alone with a child. Actually if we have children visiting she is kept in her crate until they leave.

bundle · 13/10/2008 22:14

hear hear oops

the voice of reason (and experience), she knows what she's talking about.

bundle · 13/10/2008 22:16

my sister used to have a staff, which attacked her (then) dp when he had a seizure.

their dd was there too (around 7 yrs) and the dog was put to sleep, no questions asked.

MonsieurHHTruqueur · 13/10/2008 22:27

Wow look at that, 2 posters in agreement, neither of whom have any posting history on MN bar this thread

cupcakesinthesnow · 13/10/2008 22:28

The dog did not just 'bite the child on the ankle'. The poor 2 and a half year old little boy needed hours of surgery for 80% damaged tendons and will need plastic surgery in the future to help reduce scarring.

My friends dog lunged and snapped at her 10 year old without provocation causing minor scatches and bruising to his face. The whole family loved the dog but felt they could no longer trust him especially around children. The dog was put down and the whole family were very upset but knew this was the right decision.

How many times have we seen on news reports about a dog attack and later discovere that it was not the first time the dog attacked as initialy claimed/thought.

isnt ths a discusn brd? Well I am putting my point across. Would you not plead for your child to be given another chance if he/she had done something unacceptable, i know i would for my little one? Some dogs are regarded as a member of the family so the letter is not audacious but human. and as much as i hate to say it most dogs ARE better than most Humans,so yes ScaryHalloween some dogs are more important than humans, sad but the truth.

I think we all have one opinion in common and that is dnep recovers quickly.

ButtonMeUp · 13/10/2008 22:35

fucking hell! Put the dog to sleep, it has attacked a child and imo wehter it attacked a child or adult it has broken the dog/human trust thing. Dogs life versus human life.. no contest. Human life everytime.

Not normally this rude but those siding with the dog her are insane and frankly very very stupid.

Blandmum · 13/10/2008 22:42

Wow, you think that dogs are more important than humans. rational.

MonsieurHHTruqueur · 13/10/2008 22:43

Most children don't savage people - or dogs

My trolldar is going off again

ButtonMeUp · 13/10/2008 22:45

PMSL - am being accused of a troll.. Good job just update profile.. is 4 years long enough?

Right l;o waking got to go as he'll wake ds1 xx

MonsieurHHTruqueur · 13/10/2008 22:46

BMU - was that to me? because I wasn't referring to you

summerdressesandlacyboots · 13/10/2008 22:47

"most dogs are better than humans" jolly - er, think that sums up the level of your discussion.
Utter rubbish.Imo of course as we are allowed our own opinions as you said.

But if you can drag yourself away from pleading for our understanding for your dog - what is your take on "amir's" responsibility in all this. Have noticed you have said a cursery "all dogs should be on leads and muzzled in parks" so what censure/punishment would you give him for not abiding with this thus causing this horrific incident?

jolly2006 · 13/10/2008 22:51

switching threads.

Safe recovery little one.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/10/2008 22:55

Beans - how is your nephew getting on?

hunkermunker · 13/10/2008 23:04

BOT, how horrific

I hope he recovers well and heals very quickly.

And I hope the dog is destroyed.

ScaryHalloweenSquonkRAAR · 14/10/2008 07:57

d'ye know what? this thread is about BeansOnToast's poor darling nephew who is in the hospital recovering from horrific wounds.

If you want to discuss somebody's dog being more important than that, have the decency to do it on another thread and leave this one for sympathy for the little boy.

BOT: SOrry, I have been debating with the twunts, I won't do it any more on this thread.

...Sending good vibes to your family...

beansontoast · 14/10/2008 11:40

thank you for all your well wishes....i am only sorry that my detailing this ordeal has infact exposed my sil to more PATHOLOGICAL BULLSHIT.

The debate (for want of another exppression WTF?) hasnt uncovered anything new...most people are of course horrified by the owner's portfolio of wrongdoings...then predictably, there are a couple of dogged freaks who's opinion barely registers.

cupcakesinthesnow...you made a good point.

i do not want to engage in anyway with Amir, and certainly not as his 'apology mule'.

only freaks need continue to post on this thread.

Pinions · 14/10/2008 22:45

Haven't read the thread nor am I willing to but am APPALLED by the fact that this STILL going on.

FGS. It is a DOG.

A DOG.

And just in case that's not gone in.

A DOG.

Dog vs child.

Every single one of these dogs should be destoyed and will be one day.

Just not soon enough.

Thomcat · 14/10/2008 22:50

Oh my God, beans, i hope you don't mind me posting, just had to say how sorry I am. Your poor nephew and brother and SIL and everyone. How horrific. Sending you all y love. Anything I can do let me know.
You need to text me so I have your new number.
So, so sorry.

The owner got a fine and community service, the dog returned to the owner - who by the way is responsible and honest as I know him and his wife very well, and the parents are looking to receive compensation.
