still cannot believe that is our little chap that thi shas happened to.

apparently the dog flipped out because of a musiacl bit of play equipment...which little dnep happened to be jumping on.

teh bigger children jumped away...but dnep wanst quick enough.

the dog picked him up by the leg and shook him for what my bro says was six or seven seconds.

by which time my sil pulled the dog off....felt hot patch...pulled his jeans down and saw terrible damage

teh ownwer apparantly said 'he's not a dangerous dog' over and again....,.DERRRR NEWS FLASH!!!

having been around he/the owner then somehow made a dash for it with the dog...and was obviously pursued by my bro ,some friends and other bystanders...i think he was arrested?..not sure but the police are def involved.

dnep is in hosp and will be for days...very deep wounds on his leg...three hrs in surgery to clean up....on morpheine...all zonked...poor sil with him.

this man must be a moron...a fing cnting moron to not be able to update his opinion of his dog given what he witnessed....un bel ievable

@ that letter. Has the dog not been destroyed yet? I know it's not the dogs fault, a dog is a dog but I cannot believe it would be allowed to not be put down

RubySlippers · 08/10/2008 19:56

didn't see that letter

the dog should have been put down immediately

idobelieveinghosts · 08/10/2008 20:00

Best wishes to your nephew, i hope he is feeling better poor lad

I don't get the letter, who is it from??

JodieG1 · 08/10/2008 20:00

How can someone ask the parents of a child that has been badly injured by a dog to give it another chance? I think it's very innappropriate.

Pressed send too soon, meant to say I hope your nephew makes a fast recovery and gets on ok.

lulumama · 08/10/2008 20:02

'I am therefore begging you give Chelsea another chance as I will assure you that this will never happen again. I am willing to take full responsibility for this incident and to take further measures to prevent any such incident occurring again.

yes, by putting the dog down

as a dog owner myself, i can say categorically, if my dog had bitten a child this badly, i would take them to the vet myself to have them destroyed without a second's hesitation

if the dog has a fear of bells that would lead it to inflict such damage on a child, it is not safe around children or people

why should you take the chance of another child being hurt in the same way when your dog has shown it is dangerous and aggressive?

unbelievable

mumhadenough · 08/10/2008 20:03

surely that letter's not for real? OMG

I sympathise with the owners losing something they love, but Jesus Christ, that child could have been killed!

lulumama · 08/10/2008 20:03

sorry, Beans, hope your DN is on the mend soon
3 hours of surgery must have been horrendous

Guadalupe · 08/10/2008 20:03

What a nerve! Of course the dog should be put down. What does he propose to do, banish all bells from the land for 100 years so it doesn't accidently attack a child whilst digging for the bell? Twat.

GordonTheGhoul · 08/10/2008 20:05

Kill the dog.

This is one of my biggest fears.

Hope the little boy is ok.

at that letter if it's real.

Twiglett · 08/10/2008 20:07

Amir (if that is an honest letter)

there is a huge difference between a dog knocking a child off a piece of playground equipment as it dug underneath it to find a bell that was troubling it .. and it savaging a child's leg

your dog is vicious and should not have, by law, been released without it's muzzle.

You are extremely responsible for this. I hope the parents can find a way to forgive you as it will damage them more in the long-run not to.

As to your plea for your dog, that is understandable but a dog who would attack a toddler once will do it again so I feel in the end the letter of the law should be followed.

Amir,

I was there the day it happened. Right there. I remember you coming in, amidst the chaos of crying children and screaming parents, making surreal excuses, picking up your dog and moving towards to the exit, avoiding me and 4 other grown men trying to keep you there. You did not even stop to check the damage on the 2 and a half year old boys leg, a sight that will personally haunt me for a long long time.

You then proceeded to run away, chased until caught by 4 men, and escorted back to the police. It's so appaling. I have no idea how you have the nerve to claim reponsibility now.

Where was your sympathy and empathy then?

Would you reason with your dog, the next time a sound makes it attack someone?

If you have a a shred of decency, then shut the f... up about your dog, right now. And stop contacting the parents about it! The police, not they, will put down your dog and that is the law. So, again, keep them out of it. Your only concern is so clearly yourself.

I seriously urge you to get psychiatric help.

ScaryHalloweenSquonkRAAR · 12/10/2008 17:35

I am absolutely that the owner of this vicious animal has come on here to plead for the fecking thing's life!

Put it down.

Now.

Beans - how is your nephew at the moment? I can't imagine what your family are going through...

summerdressesandlacyboots · 12/10/2008 17:48

"Amir" - That letter is all about you, your wife and your dog - not the child.
You are an irresponsible dog owner and should never be allowed to own one.

Beans - how is your nephew?

Mumi · 12/10/2008 17:51

I have saved amir's post and I ask MN/MNetters to do the same as it may be used in evidence, as it is criminal to intend to pervert the course of justice.

Piffle · 12/10/2008 17:55

the dog will be destroyed and the owner fined.
By owning that type of dog you agree to keep it under muzzle and leash AT ALL times
Yes it was owners fault not the dogs
Owner needs to accept the consequences of this.
Despicable to put that letter On here. If you had any scruples you'd have approached the police to offer your apologies

Janos · 12/10/2008 17:56

What mcs21 (and others) have said.

PictureThis · 12/10/2008 18:03

Beans I do hope your nephew makes a full and speedy recovery, poor little man. I can't imagine how your brother and his wife must be feeling now. How frightening for them.

theSuburbanDryad · 12/10/2008 18:19

Beans - I hope your nephew makes a full recovery. I give my heartfelt best wishes to you and your family.

Amir - I have no words for you.

msdisillusioned · 12/10/2008 18:27

I think this is the wrong place to be Amir. I sympathise with you that your dog may die BUT a child was badly injured and this is the key issue. This country does put down dogs which attack humans - for everybody's safety. I accept that she may be a trustworthy dog usually. Once a dog has attacked a human once it may well do so again.

Blandmum · 12/10/2008 18:32

Jesus, Mary and joseph.

some dog owners are just blinkered to the point of insanity.

The dog attacked.

It is dangerous.

It should be put down.

aand if there is any sense in this world the Idiot Owner, who broght a dangerous dog, unmuzzled into e child's playground should never be allowed to have a dog ever again

Beans, every best wish to your DN

hecAteTheirBrains · 12/10/2008 18:33

He ran away? He tried to run away? And now the letter? My dog savaged your child, please feel sorry for us.

Contemptible.

lou031205 · 12/10/2008 18:39

I hope that your DNephew recovers very soon, beans.
