good luck to all for castings and jobs this week !

julie4travel · 29/09/2008 08:09

meggysmoo - welcome to thread, my ds has done a tescos job and he is with bb. i think holiday brochure work such as haven etc is normally with agencies like mot, sandra reynolds, elliott brown etc. most castings will be based in london. apply to a few agents and see what you think on them etc.

HellFireandDamnation - re ts - that fee is an assesment fee, they will invite you along to a session and advise you if successful after the session, its a group session and when we went was held at karma studios. they have magazines out of the jobs their children have had presviously on the table for you to look at and run through their fees etc. we did a june session and had photoshoot oct and wasnt represented by them till 1st jan. not sure if thats still the same yet it was a little while to wait.

brooke77 · 29/09/2008 08:25

ah.. haven.. yes, i have heard of them !!
my ds did work for tesco when he was with scallywags although that was a few years ago now..

brooke77 · 29/09/2008 08:29

julie.. how did u get on with TS? I always thought it was not correct practice for an agency to charge a fee for assessment / consultation?

julie4travel · 29/09/2008 08:52

brooke77 - we stayed with them a year. my dd had 2 castings with them one which resulted in a job. got some lovely photos from it though. i was reluctant to pay any more fees out hense us leaving.

HellFireandDamnation · 29/09/2008 16:13

what are the fees for TS if selected as impossible to email them and it's not on their website.

How come the free to cheaper ones have rejected us or not responded and all the others said yes?! Does that say somethng?!

christabel · 29/09/2008 16:30

All those who have been taken on by UAN = do you have to give notice to your current agency and if so how long notice do you normally give. Still not sure what to do as DD had 2 good straight jobs in past 3 weeks, before that nothing for 6 months so not sure whether to stick with current agency. Might give UAN a ring and see how many DD's they have taken on in my DD's age group.

altin · 29/09/2008 17:10

HellFireandDamnation: I see from your list that B&B are one of the cheap/free ones that haven't repsonded, but I wouldn't worry too much as they'll get back to you just before the London 2012 Olympics start.

They take a while, tho I'm reliably informed they're an excellent agency. By the time they got back to me expressing interest, dd & ds had been with KL for 3 months and I applied around the same time to both agencies!

re 'consultation fees'. I can't believe some agencies still get away wth this, imho.

Good luck to all this week

altin

julie4travel · 29/09/2008 17:19

HellFireandDamnation - you can email them from their website contact page. last time i checked it was £120 plus photographer shoot fee around £80, they do use a really good photographer. we had some good pictures from it, also we initially had nos from bb yet got accepted third time round and are very happy with the jobs we have had from them.

altin - has your dcs had much work recently? we been quiet for the last month

good luck to all this week

liahgen · 29/09/2008 17:28

lol at the precious mummy who wouldn't share details of her kids job at school,

bless her.

MelodyDaisy · 29/09/2008 17:31

Hi all. DS2 was fantastic at his first job today Photographer absolutely loved him, he did it all in 20 mins!! Near enoguh every single shot was a good one

DS1 has another casting tomorrow as well, had asked DD to go to a casting tomorrow BUT the job is on Friday and our borough won't issue a license by then which is a shame

Hi

My LO has been accepted by Babyshak, Bizzykidz, Rascals, Elisabeth Smith and Kitsch Kids. I was decided who to go with, I only applied to Kitsch kids today and they have already phoned to accept him and ask if they can put him forward for a job. Obviously its tempting to go with KK as they are offering to put him forward for something but anyone know if they are any good?

liahgen · 29/09/2008 17:59

if they are puttinghim forward without you signing a contract then go for it.

Until you have accepted, you o them nothing, then if you decide to go ahead, great, if not, mayber they made a bit of commision out of him.

(well thats my opinion anyway, )

Melody, little man is well on the mend, big cast comes off 8th Oct, replaced by one to his elbow for 3 weeks, then thats it. More climbing frames.

He's missed out on 3 straight jobs since, [bloody typical emoticon!]

Sound like your ds did well today, I love it when it goes smoothly like that, easy money.

MelodyDaisy · 29/09/2008 18:01

I know they have done work for M & S and saw them at a casting the other week, think it was actually a commercial casting I saw them at too! Not sure how much work they get exactly but they are kosher. fees are £100, whereas ES are nearly £300! BK have lots and lots of kids on their books and not sure about Rascals

OP posts:
ichef · 29/09/2008 18:14

Melody well done to DS2 and good luck for tomorrow!

totallyfloaty35 re KL being too abrupt couldn't agree more, I do respect them and we're definitely happy with the castings and jobs DD's getting through them but they're almost rude, such a difference from UA, again we're happy with them but just my opinion.

christabel I gave KL no notice when we ended DS's contract just asked them to cancel the contract and that was it. What agency is your DD with again? Sorry can't keep up!

HellFireandDamnation · 29/09/2008 18:32

Gut reaction is to go with ES as the longest standing etc etc but the fees!! One wonders if we'll get it back?! How many jobs does one have to get to get the £175 back and where does £300 come into it for ES I've just read Melody!!??

I am thinking that as ES is the biggest and longest established that they get offerred more and IF they have limited babies on their books then you have more chance than another agency?? Seems a lot of acceptances by ES.

TS - you can't email - it's bookings only and they ignore the email - even though the address is on the letter they send!

julie4travel · 29/09/2008 19:02

HellFireandDamnation - i have emailed the bookings email before and the owner has replied back. ts have been going for years too - i think at least 20 years or so
i have seen es kids at castings

melody well done for your little chappie, good luck for the other castings

MelodyDaisy · 29/09/2008 19:12

Model directory £50, £175 excludes photograph fees to as well which you must account for as you will need to pay for them!

If you have a baby then ES is very good, even they said to me themselve's that they get far more work for their babies than over the age of say 2/3!! My DD was with them as a baby when fees were only £115 which included photographic pics with them and did some nice work. I also don't like the fact they are now saying "you are accepted, please send all this money, we don't even need to see you"??!! We went in to see them previously so they could assess, but not anymore Just IMO Hellfireanddamnation

HellFireandDamnation · 29/09/2008 19:27

Funny enough I emailed them some queries along the lines of why do you charge so much(!) and how come you don't meet people - not had a response yet but I'll let you know!

MelodyDaisy · 29/09/2008 19:32

LOL!! The reason I went with them 5yrs ago was for the same reason, longest established and reputable, but I didn't know this site then, just my own research but I know alot more now. ES have MASSES of babies as like I said before, it tends to be what they are used and known for more than anything else IMO They do get babies work though, but so do alot of other agencies who don't charge as much fees and who haven't got such a mass amount on their books You tried MOT?

My DD did do some nice work though, but you gotta decided if it's worth paying all that money out, my opinion would be to hold fire a little to hear back from some others.

OP posts:
liahgen · 29/09/2008 19:33

agree with melody,

was a few years ago that we were accepted by es but def had to go see them, TBH, I found them a bit, "you and then us" kind of people

Does that make sense, very professional;, of course they are well established in world etc, but do you see them that regularly at "trendy" for want of another word, castings and jobs? They don't get the junior, burberry, monsoon, kind of jobs ime.

lots same childrens pics on walls.. favourites maybe? Just my thoughts when we went to se them.

I didn't accept their offer, we went to Bubblegum, where Heather knew every kids on here books birthdays!! and when my then 2 yr ds needed a wee, out came a potty from under table, he performed, then she shoved it back under sayiong, "i'll sort that when you've gone"

Heather was brilliant, very well respected in the industry, bubblegum is now run by her partner as we lost Heather to breast cancer couple years ago,

sorry that got a bit long didn't it,

HellFireandDamnation · 29/09/2008 19:38

Bubblegum was another that hasn't responded to me!
MOT was a no.

I thought I had made my mind up for ES now I'm not so sure! Bizzykids seem to accept more? If Babyshak is their baby dpt how come we got rejected by them and accepted by Bizzykids???!

Who gets the knitting patterns??????????????/!!

liahgen · 29/09/2008 19:41

KL gets lots knitting patterns, check out my little fella on the front of the sirdar brochure

www.picturetrail.com/liahgen05

in more kids folder

HellFireandDamnation · 29/09/2008 19:46

damn! KL was one of the ones that said no.

I would so like to get a knitting pattern for him. Only because my mother knits for England (you have no idea!) to be able to send her a pattern with him on it (I've not told her we're doing this) would be brilliant. Anyone else??!

Couldn't see the pic? Only took to lots of albums?

liahgen · 29/09/2008 20:02

the you look in the album named "more kids"
