Just thought we should start a September thread

Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone on UAN, hope it's good news and acceptance's all round

Good Luck mummyeme Do you know when they'd be filming? Hopefully it will be a quick turn around so you'll know pretty soon

Steph, I have an interview with Boss too. I'm going to wait till I've got the paperwork from UAN then cancel the Boss interview. My only concern is about where any work will be. I don't drive, and don't know if UAN would require us to travel further from Manchester than Boss.

brooke77 · 18/09/2008 10:52

hi mummyeme.. good luck for your dd's casting.. will email you soon xx

Steph8880 · 18/09/2008 11:01

Puffling - when Sarah called to invite us to the consultation i asked where the office was going to be, when she said Newcastle i told her that was a bit far to travel, but she said most of the work will be in Manchester - so that is why they were holding consultations here (not really sure why the office wont be in Manchester!)
So i would think it will be ok

puffling · 18/09/2008 11:06

Thanks Steph, that's good to know.

MelodyDaisy · 18/09/2008 11:08

They wouldn't really want to take on people that lived too far away from jobs/castings anyway so I should imagine majority will be in that area so I wouldn't worry too much.

Mummyeme-What time's your casting? Luckily ours is gone 5pm so won't have to take DS1 out of school.

jojosmaman · 18/09/2008 14:11

Hi! I think that the reason UAN is in Newcastle is because Sarah is from Durham so may be if she was doing UAN she preferred to be nearer her home? The photographer said to me that the office is just a phone and computer and that there would be no need to travel over there and again as others have said most work is in Manchester.

Does everybody who went for UAN live near/ in Manchester then?

ichef · 18/09/2008 14:57

Hi everyone ds2 has been booked for a job tomorrow i really wasn't expecting anything as we decided not to start him until he was around 6 months old but then DD's agency said they'd keep his photo in case somethig came up and he's got a job, it's super and dd also had a casting today but not same as Melody unfortuntely would be nice to meet some of you at a casting.

christabel · 18/09/2008 15:35

Hi Steph - Will cancel Boss - the thing with UAN is they will probably not open books again for another year so will see what comes of it and if had nothing within 6 months or so can always look into going with Boss but UA are very well spoken about and Sarah seems really nice.

Steph8880 · 18/09/2008 15:50

Hi Christabel - I agree Sarah seemed lovely, and DD loved the photographer!! i heard that UAN will be reopening their books around April 09.
i am going to cancel my apt too, are you going to phone or email? do you think it will affect chances if we ever were to apply again in the future?
Quite a few people seemed to have Boss as a back up, bet they will wander why so many people are suddenly cancelling their appointments!
Ichef - congrats to DS2, how exciting!! How old is he? which agency are you with?

lyndall · 18/09/2008 15:58

ichef, how lovely to receive such unexpected good news. We have not heard anything about the Boden casting, have you? Hard to know what they were looking for as there were so many different aged children there - the ages ranged from babies to twelve year olds from what I could gather. Enjoy your day tomorrow.

christabel · 18/09/2008 16:10

Steph - I will phone next week when looked at forms for UAN. I don't think Boss will think anything of it as they will probably get a lot of people applying and don't think it will effect chances if decide to go with them in future. Presume people leave and change agencies all the time. My DD with a couple of agencies (although never heard from one of them since Jan) so once joined UAN will have to get her taken off books of other agencies.

MelodyDaisy · 18/09/2008 20:12

Ichef- YAY!! Well done to your little one, shame we weren't at same casting, would be good to meet you to

I don't think DS1 will get this one, not sure why but just get that feeling !!

Hi All

Was anyone else at the John Richmond casting near Sloane Square yesterday? dh took dd and she must have loved it as it's the first time she's said she really wants the job after a casting

As ever, good luck to all for jobs and castings.

altin.

MelodyDaisy · 19/09/2008 12:00

Nope sorry, was in Oxford Street, I know few other's had castings yesterday so perhap's someone from here was at your one!!
Great to hear your DD really enjoyed it, fingers crossed for you

hopelesshousewife · 19/09/2008 13:45

Altin my DS has done JR four times, though is too tall now
Its his favourite job ever - very cool clothes, very nice people. Good luck!

Luce2006 · 19/09/2008 13:46

good to hear some of us are busy!!!
I am waiting to hear if ds has got the part in a commercial( wasn't through UA tho but Starnow)and my partner and I have a photoshoot tomorrow in London. It was supposed to be just me but the photographer thinks that he's very good-looking and asked me if he was eager to come as well. It's going to be so much fun!!!

hopelesshousewife · 19/09/2008 13:48

Good luck Luce, and to every one else!

ichef · 19/09/2008 16:12

DS had his first ever job and he was so good, we were in and out in less than an hour was possibly the quickest job I've ever been to, photos are for a book of patterns, have no idea what that means.

Luce that sounds good fingers crossed for ds and good luck tomorrow.

Luce2006 · 19/09/2008 16:33

thanks girls! I am very excited

ichef:Glad that his first job went well!!!I would have loved for my ds to get a job as a baby but it never happened
Well, need to plan my journey to East Croydon now.
Have a nice week-end and may next week bring loads of castings for our DC!!

altin · 19/09/2008 17:00

hopelesshousewife: thanks a lot

I think she's going to need some luck. She's 8 but a tall 8, so I'm not sure if that'll go against her

She's usually v. good at adopting a casual attitude to it all. She seems to cope better with it that way if she doesn't get called back for a job, but she was really beaming when she got home last night and said the people and clothes were great, too. Your ds had a great run from the sounds of it with four shoots for JR. I'd be happy with just the one!

MelodyDaisy · 19/09/2008 18:24

My DS1 has another casting on Monday at the Cast In Spce place. Have never been there but notice Holborn is the nearest tube. Anyone know how far it is to walk from the tube?
Also is anyone else's DC going to be there?
Ichef-Chuffed it went well, now you just gotta wait month's before seeing it!! lol I hate the waiting!

OP posts:
hopelesshousewife · 19/09/2008 18:51

Melody - your DS is sooo busy!! Good luck to him.

Ichef, probably for one of those gorgeous knitting books like Debbie Bliss - I always see them and think I need to learn to knit!

Altin they are THE coolest clothes, though not sold in UK except one or two stores. Theres a pic from a shoot of my DS on my profile. They usually have a taller girl, so hope its her!!

MelodyDaisy · 19/09/2008 18:54

hopelesshousewife- Both my DS1 and DD were asked to go to a casting today but they were shooting in SPain on 29th and they haven't got passport's! Was gutted, they both would have loved the chance to do that.

Anyone know how far to walk to Cast In Space?
