Wasn't there a very tasty young man presenting this show (alongside that intensely irritating cutesy pigtailed child-woman). I've not watched for a while, but this week he had been transformed into that slightly odd cousin who didn't have any friends, couldn't dance and smelt funny. So we won't be watching that again.

susanmt - I'm so pleased to hear they are filming new balamory - my DS (16months) loves that programme and when the last series finished he seemed to be forever waiting for it to be on.

We love Blue Cow too. The bloke who does the voiceover sounds like the one from League of Gentlemen who plays Pauline and Tubbs. Spooky! I love the kids' drawings they use as the backgrounds.
Re: Sarah-jane from Tikkabilla - completely slappable, I'm afraid.

katierocket · 02/02/2003 14:11

sarah jane reminds me of bonny langford - especially when she sings - it's so 'drama school'!

Nutjob · 02/02/2003 16:12

Sorry guys but Paul from Tikkabilla is just TOOOOOO skinny and a bit creepy for me!!

Queenie · 02/02/2003 16:18

I thought the Pippin on CBeebies looked a little different but if episodes were being made in the late 1990's then Pippin must still be alive. This has made my day, thanks everyone. I, I mean, We also love Tweenies.

breeze · 02/02/2003 16:33

We love the tweenie too, especially their latest series 'how to be safe with the tweenies', sad thing is ds is more likely to listern to them then me.

jasper · 03/02/2003 13:23

AARGH! SARA JANE! I can't abide her - all that sticking her tits out and exaggerated facial posturing...

Paula1 · 03/02/2003 15:29

Susanmt, do the others in Balamory live there too? was Spencer an actor/presenter before Balamory or is he a 'real' person?!

I watched the poo episode too, when 'Gladys' turned to poo and said 'is your poo in there pipin' unfortunately i missed the beginning, i know pipin is a clever dog but did he really climb on the toilet, do his business and then flush the chain?

Soupdragon (Thanks)

PamT · 03/02/2003 18:29

For all you Balamory fans, have a look at this for the low down on who lives where and where the real Balamory is.

SoupDragon · 04/02/2003 11:57

Breeze, I believe that Pippin actually did it on the garden path and it was collected & flushed away.

I'm not sure I've actually seen the whole episode but I too watched it with "horrified disbelief" when I saw it the first time. Hehehehe.

Philippat · 04/02/2003 13:59

To be honest, I think Sarah Janes is on Tikkabilla for the dads. She must be mortified that the bit they keep showing is the monkey impression.

Very glad to hear I'm not the only one with an unmentioned crush on Paul (although a bit unbearably theatre school). Mind you I'm sure I saw he had his belly button pierced the other day so I'm not so sure any more.

Anyone else notice that Jimmy Hibbert writes EVERYTHING (he was even doing the voice on 'What the Papers Say' the other week - scary). And that Frankie from You Do Too has moved on to the Fimbles...

Chinchilla · 04/02/2003 21:51

Dh thinks SJ is lovely, and that the tall, skinney one is a bit of a luvvey ('Yah, darling, I'm only doing this until Hollywood calls' )

I think that the voice of the shark in Rubberdubbers (John Gordon Sinclair) sounds like the dubbed over voice of Mac and Clifford in Clifford, The Big Red Dog. However, because the credits are for the original (American) programme recording, I don't know if I am right. The voice of bits in Bits and Bobs (Sally Presig) is also the voice of Peggy Patch in Playdays...oh my God, I have realised how sad I am

babster · 04/02/2003 22:22

Chinchilla, how is this for sad? Sally Preisig also did Bella from the Tweenies and Dogsby from the Shiny Show (but left and was replaced). My dd was given an audio tape of nursery rhymes for Christmas and I put it on, thinking 'Oh good, a break from Cbeebies' and guess who was the narrator? SP - aarrghhh!

Mind you (here's some great Tweenies trivia) - originally there was meant to be a fifth one, called Sid!

My dd loves Pippin and cries lots when it finishes. We have to have something at hand to distract her at the end. The only other programme to have the same effect is Balamory. Archie, Spencer and PC Plum seem to be the most favourite and get the biggest wave at the beginning and the end.

I cannot stand the blonde girl from Tikkabilla and agree that she is only there for the dads. However my dh thinks that the little monster (sorry can't remember it's name at this time of night) was based on the 'lovely' Sarah-Jane. Think I feel more sorry for the monster!!!!!

miggy · 05/02/2003 13:09

Babster- you seem to be a tweenie expert, do you know how the actors in the tweenie suits (yes girls, sorry they are not real!) actually see out ? bothered me for ages

mum2toby · 05/02/2003 13:12

Miggy - me too!! And how do they make their mouth/eyes move??? Also, are voices prerecorded?

How sad am I????

babster · 05/02/2003 13:31

Miggy - I wondered too, which is why I went to Tell-tale Productions' website to see if they divulged the secret. But they didn't Oh where is Jimmy Saville when we need him? 'Please fix it for me to see how The Tweenies is made' (signed on behalf of my dd to save further embarrassment).

Nutjob · 05/02/2003 13:45

Chinchilla, I think the voice of the shark in 'Rubbadubba's' is actually Sean Hughes. John GS is the frog!! How sad am I?!

AngieL · 05/02/2003 16:53

I have got the theme tune from the RubbaDubba's stuck in my head, its driving me mad!

breeze · 05/02/2003 17:00

Angiel, I know what you mean, except i often sing really loud 'i love clifford the big red dog', in fact mu neighbour even picked me up on it.

SoupDragon · 05/02/2003 17:26

I assume that the eyes/mouths of the Tweenies were radio controlled by an operator off screen and that the voices were dubbed on later (and not by the people in the suits). I also thought they see out of the mouths. It's just finished so I can't check!
