Black Pudding, yum or yuk?

I just wondered how many people actually eat it. I personally can't stand it, not that I have ever tasted it. I won't cook it either. If DH cooks it, then I won't eat anything that might have touched the black pudding. DS loves it, but DD won't eat it, then again, she is a fussy little eater anyway.

GROSS.

Being a northern lass, it was a fairly regular item on the menu. Disgusting stuff.

i was brought up in ireland and we ate it all the time but I didn't know what it was and I loved it Haven't had it for years

serenequeen · 07/02/2005 19:17

yum! ks, tell your dh it's called boudin noir in france and morcilla in spain - so it's not just some weird northern thing!

Amanda3266 · 07/02/2005 19:19

Try white pudding - that's even worse.

romilly · 07/02/2005 19:20

yukkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkky

PicadillyCircus · 07/02/2005 19:20

I generally love it but not at the moment (pregnancy sickness )

noddyholder · 07/02/2005 19:20

what is the white one have seen it but never tasted it

vict17 · 07/02/2005 19:21

I think it's ok in small doses and as long as I try not to think about what it is!!

nikkim · 07/02/2005 19:22

Yummy although it amuses me when i get to order it in a posh restaurant - Heathcotes do an excellent one. I once even stopped in a health spa and was greatly amused to be able to order black pudding with my fry up!!!

romilly · 07/02/2005 19:22

isnt that just rough sausage with white skin

marthamoo · 07/02/2005 19:22

Yuk. And that's not because I care what it's made of - it just tastes disgusting.

Tetley · 07/02/2005 19:23

Yuck yuk yuk (although dh would disagree - he loves it!)

kid · 07/02/2005 19:24

Another yukky thing I used to be fed by MIL was liver. I don't think it tastes bad, just the look and feel of it before it is cooked was enough to put me off!

RudyDudy · 07/02/2005 19:25

DEFINITE YUK!

Almost as bad as Mrmt*!

mishmash · 07/02/2005 19:25

We have a fab one here - Clonakilty - it is absolutely delicious in a salad with some apple sauce - used to hate it but then fiddled with recipes and it is fab

motherinferior · 07/02/2005 19:25

Speaking as a former vegetarian I....

....LOVE IT.

Amanda3266 · 07/02/2005 19:25

Now I won't have a word said against Marmite

kid · 07/02/2005 19:25

Whenever DH has it, he offers it to me in the hope that I will taste it. Even though I have refused everytime (probably once a week) for the past 12 years, he will still insist I taste black pudding.
