Start-rite sandles, what do you think ?

I've seen a pair of sandles on the start-rite web site but they are white patant leather. I've never seen sandles in patent before. Would they look like plastic ?
I like plain white as it goes with every thing but patent? I'm not sure.

link?

bozza · 19/06/2008 19:19

Think they sound like my DDs which are red - so go with very little but doesn't matter that much as she wears her crocs most of the time. I am sure they had DD's in white at the time. I think they are lovely actually.

mummyloveslucy · 19/06/2008 19:22

I've never done a link before, they are under girls sandles but they are shown in navy. It says they come in white patent and I've seen them in a shop. I'll try the link now.www.start-rite.co.uk/footware

Patent is good - quite harwearing.

Little ones always always wear things well and make them look nice. Go for it

Link not worked. Is it these ones called meadow. If so, they are the ones that DD has, although the red is no longer listed, and I think they are really lovely and are wearing well. So, yes, get them.

bozza · 19/06/2008 19:26

cross posted. 2nd link is working.

mummyloveslucy · 19/06/2008 19:27

Ow wow! I've done my first link and it's worked. The sandals are called "Meddow"

Yes those are the one's. Are they quite supportive? as my daughter has terrible co-ordination and is always falling over.

oh I like them - they're cute (long suffering boring-clothes-and-shoe-shopping mother of a boy here )

bozza · 19/06/2008 20:07

Yes they seem fine - both straps are velcro adjustable. Good thing about white sandals (I usually go for white) is that there are no toes to scuff plus as you say they go with everything. Quite expensive, mind you. I think I paid £26.

Heated · 19/06/2008 20:18

agree with bozza

oh and slap sunscreen on the feet

Hulababy · 19/06/2008 20:21

6yo DD has some Startrite sandals as they werer the only ones that fit! And I have to say that are wearing really well, and seem a really comfortable fit.

Only problem with patent is when they get scuffed; impossible to make them look right again - even with patent leather paint stuff. But I do like shiny patent.

Hulababy · 19/06/2008 20:24

The meadow look nice.

DD has these Flowerbelle = also in white

fifa · 19/06/2008 20:25

DD1 has Meadow in white and whilst look lovely have rubbed dreadfully on her instep.Crocs still a fav here too.

bozza · 19/06/2008 20:47

How has that happened fifa? I suppose fit is always down to the individual foot, of course.

Hula that is the beauty of patent sandals though isn't it. The patent bit will not get as scuffed as a toed and heeled shoe. Well DD's are totally unblemished after two months, but she is not hard on her shoes, and is also down to the aforementioned excessive croc wearing.

Hulababy · 19/06/2008 20:49

Yes, true. No toes to scuff Have to say DD's sandals have worn very well.

fifa · 19/06/2008 21:00

have horrible feeling nursery overenthusiastic with sun cream on her feet and +sweat..., needless to say she won't wear them now, but they are gorgeous and the lady(small indy store) who fitted them so much nicer than at Clarks.Would recommend Startrite regardless of DD1's misfortune.

bozza · 19/06/2008 21:06

Maybe would have been better with socks for nursery with that wonderful hindsight? Maybe patent doesn't breathe as well as ordinary leather also?

tortoiseSHELL · 19/06/2008 21:12

Dd has those sandals in navy blue - we love them! She really wanted the shiny grey ones, but we got the blue ones, as they would go better with her uniform.

mummyloveslucy · 19/06/2008 21:37

She would have to wear socks with them as her skin is soo soft that last year she got a blister from waring her start-rite sandals for one day without socks. The lady in the shop couldn't believe it as they were reall soft leather.
Would socks look silly with these sandals?

DD has worn little fancy ankle socks, when first new and wearing them in, with hers and they look lovely still.

fifa · 19/06/2008 21:39

Day started with socks but quite often takes them off herself.www.childrensalon.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=7186 look interesting but not as pretty.

fifa · 19/06/2008 21:40

Forgot to add, the birkenstocks @£29.95 further down the page

bozza · 19/06/2008 21:46

I think white ankle socks would be fine and quite pretty in a little girl way (how old is she?). And DD has worn them like that on occasion. And certainly did in previous summers.

OTOH I think pink socks with lilac toes and heels would look hideous. Or fifi socks. Or....you get the picture.
