Just got 23 month ds a pair of geox closed sandal/trainer type thing for summer to wear without sockas as he getting so sweaty, reasured in shop fit fine (always go there) but he had them on for 1/2 hour in car WITH socks on but there were big red marks on the back of his heel/ankle.

The only other thing i have been recommended is clarkes doodles. What are these like without socks on anyone??

I have seen lots of children wear these without socks.
I have to say I nearly always put mine in socks though, even when they are in sandals.
Childrens feet don't sweat in the same sort of way as ours do I suppose and the skin seems so soft I just want to protect it...unless they are barefoot of course.
DD1 was 4 last summer and that was her first summer in sandals without socks. DD2 was 2 and it was her first too ....

my dd (4) and ds (19months) have both had doodles on without socks the past 2 days with no blisters/sore bits - I mean the doodles open sandals though not the closed toe shoes

My older 2 boys have always had doodles and no socks and always been fine. Assuming ds3 will follow suit in due course.

aefondkiss · 07/05/2008 20:05

doodles are okay without socks but my ds (4) does get sweaty feet with or wthout socks... sandals might be less sweaty?

Crocs all the way!!!!!

I have 4 pairs for me and I've just ordered another pair (shhh ... don't tell my husband ) and my daughter at 17 months just has her 1st pair. No blisters, just lovely cool feet.

my lot wear the fake crocs and in fact dds both have asdas peppa pig versions at the moment which are great and they wear them with and without socks on.

Niecie · 07/05/2008 20:35

DS2 wore Doodles without socks but, boy, did they get smelly in the end. I didn't know a 3 year old could develop such smelly feet! (They were fine when he wore socks).

eandh · 07/05/2008 20:42

hatrick - I have no idea of the difference between croclings and caymans [bluah] just got her a pair in little cheapy shoes hop in town. Shes only just 16 months and seems to think running is a better option than walking, to be honest shes far happier with bare feet and any opportunity (buggy/car seat) takes her shoes off (I know we'll end up with a 1 shoe collection)

anniebear · 09/05/2008 12:15

Glad we are not the only ones with the cheap version lol

morethanmum · 09/05/2008 12:20

birkenstocks are great, mine lived in them all summer, no blisters.

Tommy · 09/05/2008 12:23

mine wore Doodles without scocks after the first few wears to wear them in

NutterlyUts · 09/05/2008 12:27

I'd put em in doodles for a few wears with socks to wear them in, then sockless Doodles imho are fab - soft, light and machine washable at 40!!!
