Would definitely report it.

shinyshoes · 08/04/2008 15:15

Dunno, Its a difficut one, I can't think of anything other than jealousy that would drive me to dob them in.

It's not about jealousy Shinyshoes ! I'd never be jealous someone was fleecing aside "substantial" benefits while running a "cash only" business.

I know of one person who claims a lot of benefits but does the odd cash job (maybe once every few months) and I won't snitch (there, I didn't dob) on her. I didn't report my neighbours for driving uninsured either (although I was tempted). I don't know why really, maybe I just don't want to feel like the Dot Cotton of the village, and not sure I would feel comfortable talking nicely to people I had reported - I think it'd make me feel two faced.

I think with benefit theft, unless you know the person very well and have all your facts straight it is not a good idea to interfere. A bit like getting SS involved because you think a child is being mistreated.

I think if you are in full knowledge of all the facts and the person is simply being fraudulent for greeds' sake, then there is no problem with dobbing them in.

meemar · 08/04/2008 15:27

lol - you've got me saying 'dob' too!
