Saturday night cahllenge - Music to run to.. I'm revamping my iPod

MascaraOHara · 05/04/2008 19:00

So it's a lonely Saturday night and later this evening I plan to give my iPod a good shake up, get rid of some dead wood, load up some new tracks and create some new play lists...

I want to add a playlist for the gym & running... need suggestions as to what tunes should on my new 'running' playlist...

thought it might be fun to start a thread as well as hoping to get some tunes I've not heard of or thought about adding...

HELP, I need inspiration

I am new to running and to ipod and found this site www.jogtunes.com/index.php
It lists stuff by beats per minute so if you know that certain tunes suit your pace you can find more that are similar.

On my running playlist at the mo are
Sheena Is A Punk Rocker
Helicopter, Price Of Gasoline Bloc Party
DisorderJoy Division
Loser, Beautiful Way, Farewell Ride Beck
Stay Away Nirvana
Rushing Moby
Foundations Kate Nash
Totem Klaxons
Don't Look Back Into The Sun The Libertines
Boys Don't Cry, A Forest The Cure
Lots of Zutons

Its quite a random selection, based on the bpm that site told me about and what I already had on my computer. Kate Nash is great, makes me laugh as I struggle round the park!

Oooh... What a great topic! I think it depends on what sort of running you're doing. For general running my current playlist for spring/ summer is:

Innocente (Falling in Love): Delerium/ Tiesto (for warming up)
Silence: Delerium/ Tiesto
Sing it Back: Moloko
Groove Jet: Spiller
Lady (Hear Me Tonight): Modjo
Join Our Club: St Etienne
Southern Sun: Paul Oakenfold
Otto's Journey: Mylo
Starz in their Eyes: Just Jack
Sheila: Jamie T
Boys of Summer: DJ Sammy (shameful I know, but fun!)
Panther Dash: The Go! Team
9PM (Til I Come): ATB
Ready Steady Go: Paul Oakenfold
In My Arms: Mylo
The Get Go: New Young Pony Club

For running hard, I don't really have any play list but some favourite tracks which I put on are ones like:

Mr Brightside: The Killers (god, how can you not sprint to this!)
Animal Nitrate: Suede
No Retreat No Surrender: Bruce Springsteen
Welcome to the Black Parade: My Chemical Romance
Chelsea Dagger: The Fratellis
Feltham is Singing Out/ Hard to Beat: Hard Fi
9-5: Dolly Parton
Monkeys Gone to Heaven: The Pixies

Will check out that jogtunes site now!

I think it's funny that when you go to a gym it's all funky house etc and yet when you look down this list we all actually run to mostly rock-y type stuff.

still intend to post some of mine later.

I do like some country rock

I know, I know, but it is so uplifting in a cheesy way

they sing about soaring in the sky and open roads a lot

Faith Hill or Tim McGraw or Keith Urban

WilfSell · 01/08/2008 16:47

this is the best selection: millions on here...

moondog · 01/08/2008 16:48

We decided tonight that Ten Pole Tudor doing Swords of a Thousand Men would be top running tune.

Rock Lobster B%2s is best ever to kill yerself to on home stretch.

MascaraOHara · 01/08/2008 16:48

Ooooh.. was only thinking whilst running earlier that I could do with a revamp lol

need to get rid of some dead wood that I find myself skipping

there's loads of music I want at minute

I'm thinking Ina Maria "I like you much better when you're naked) would be good to run to
