Thread 175 - will we never shut up?! Pull up a chair and have a good whinge about domestic tedium and annoyingly fictional HBFs... (once we've finished the other thread).

Afternoon. Chucking it down all day, so we couldn’t do anything.

I have horrible dreams LetUs, I put it down to my medication. I don’t remember many of them fortunately, just wake up like you do. <cwtch> Aww at baby cuddles.

I don’t blame you for not going out Helen, hope you feel better soon.

Oh, six swans-a-flying just went past the window, beautiful.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 10/12/2023 16:34

Evening.

Went to the supermarket yesterday and found several bargains so my freezer is full now. Then I did not spend a ton of money on an expensive bag online, of course not, who would do that? 🙄

I'm making goulash soup at the moment, or at least I'm trying to, I followed a recipe and everything in the beginning, sauteing onions, feeling like I'm on Masterchef or something. Now I'm starting to just chucking other stuff in to make it taste someting. Hope it will be edible in the end Hmm

Boo for unpleasant dreams, I have those too Confused

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 10/12/2023 16:36

Hope your stomach cramps are better Helen. I've had a dodgy stomach a couple of days, not sure my goulasch will make it better Hmm

LetUsPrey · 10/12/2023 18:37

Evening wenches.

Usual sort of Sunday. Finished the other pair of Christmassy baby boots.

Oh Helen <cwtch> hope you’re feeling better soon.

I like the sound of a non-disturbable shed.

Top bargain hunting Wicked. Well done on absolutely not buying an expensive bag online Grin Hope your stomach improves soon too.

The swans sound beautiful Apricot.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/12/2023 22:19

Evening all. To add to general feeling of woe, the dishwasher has broken. It will only wash with cold water. I'm actually feeling a bit better now, but still not up for going out, so just as well I didn't try.

Hope that the goulash turned out ok Wicked

Flying swans are awesome Grin They're just so graceful and their wings make a lovely sound.

Morning wenches.

Good that you’re feeling better Helen. Poo at dishwasher though. I remember when ours broke and I told myself we didn’t need a new one pfft I shall just wash up. Lasted three days.

Still dark and I think it’s raining. Monday can already get in the bin.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/12/2023 07:58

Morning. Washing up is tedious, but DS came down and helped with drying up without any fuss, so actually it was a nice little bonding experience Grin

It's mostly clear skies at the moment, but not much going on in terms of a scenic sunrise. Hope everywench has a good day.

ApricotCrush · 11/12/2023 17:49

Evening. Quite mild out, no rain.

Oh dear, the latest drama from ChezApricot. We've just come back from the vet. Misty was in and out of the litter tray all morning doing tiny wees, so I assumed she has a UTI. She's had an antibiotic jab which apparently lasts a fortnight and some painkiller liquid to put on her food. Not sure how that's going to work out. Hmm

Your goulash soup sounds lovely WW.

LetUsPrey · 11/12/2023 19:26

Evening wenches.

Awww at bonding over the dishes Helen.

Oh blimey Apricot, poor little Misty. It’s about time you had a few uneventful days.

I went to work, I came home from work and now I’m tired. I had a little cry at an episode of The Wombles I was listening to in the car so that’s how the day went really.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 11/12/2023 22:45

Urgh - cats and UTIs. What a pain apricot - hope the antibiotics sort it. (IdiotKitty is still merrily chugging his mixed in with cat biscuits and fish oil paste)

Urgh again - we've been trying to compare dishwashers online.

Today has been short busts of work interspersed with driving - "I've forgotten my PE kit", "I need to pick up a prescription", school run, club run... FML my poor little car must be wondering what's going on! DH's is still at the garage - not that he's allowed to drive.

We finished watching Lazarus Project - bloody confusing, but very good.

Morning wenches.

Dark, rain, etc.

If ever you needed a clone Helen.

Woke at 4 with a sore hip. Physio doesn’t have any evening appointments for at least a month. I’ll phone though, see if there’s stuff not showing on her website.

We’re still going through Shetland and will start the new series of Vigil soon.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/12/2023 11:23

Morning. Today it was dark and raining, so I drove DS to the bus... which was either early, or very late. Either way, that meant doing yet another school run, then late to the exercise class, and work.
DH is also back to work, I'm sure you can imagine his delight and enthusiasm. Hmm

Will send the Tav Medics to check out your hip LetUs

Afternoon. Raining and miserable here.

I decided that putting the painkiller on Misty’s food wasn’t going to work, so we syringed it into her mouth. Shock It wasn’t too bad actually, no blood was spilled.

Hope your hip resolves itself soon LetUs.

Oh Helen that all sounds very hectic. Hope the day hasn’t been too bad.

LetUsPrey · 12/12/2023 19:27

Evening wenches.

Hope you gave yourself a wave Helen as you met yourself coming back.

Good to see Doctor Aramis using proper hygiene there. So important.

Well done Misty and well done Apricot! <puts bandages back into store cupboard>

Might have a bath tonight. It’s been a bit of a day.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 12/12/2023 21:37

Well done to Misty and apricot
My Achievement of the Day - I managed to wash my hair before going out. #SettingTheBarLow

Did yet another car trip today (on top of the others), picking up DH's car from the garage. I'm going to have to reprogram myself back to 'school run mode' if DS gets into his favoured college - that's going to require me/DH doing a drop-off and pick-up every day to get him to a bus stop. <le enormous sigh>

I had a nice evening out though. Smile (apart from getting 3/4 of the way home and finding that the road was shut, which led to a 19 mile diversion. FFS

Morning wenches.

We’re going to need a bigger boat bath

19 mile diversion Helen? Bloody hell. And a bit of a pain re the college run, just to get to a bus stop.

Still dark here - I really shouldn’t be surprised.

Hope Fancy’s okay <squidge>

ApricotCrush · 13/12/2023 16:50

Afternoon. Reasonable day, no rain. I did Sainsbury's this morning. Ridiculously busy, only two tills open.

19 miles Helen, that's horrendous.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 13/12/2023 18:39

Evening all. Am headless chickening today. Been at BoringOfficeJob all day, and the out this evening. <flails about>

Evening wenches.

Aaaarrrggghhhhh at work. I sometimes need to check the door to mine and NiceColleague’s office that it doesn’t have a sign on it that says “drop-in centre”. Jeez just because there are people who clearly aren’t busy, despite constantly complaining about how busy they are, doesn’t mean they can come in and talk at us for about 20 minutes at a time at least. And as one person goes, another arrives five minutes later. Just go away.

Two tills only isn’t terribly helpful Apricot.

Enjoy your evening Helen.

I’ve finished off another knitting project that’s a Christmas gift. That’s two this week. One more to go. The Christmas deadline doesn’t half help you focus Grin

LetUsPrey · 14/12/2023 07:37

Morning wenches.

You know when it would just be easier to stay in bed and not have to go anywhere because people? Very much this. No matter, one shall have to crack on.

Only another week to the shortest day and then we’ll start getting lighter at some point.

Have peaceful, incident-free days wenches.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/12/2023 08:13

Morning all. Sociable colleagues are a blessing and a curse. Mostly a curse in your case LetUs Sad

Nice sunrise this morning. Started off with layers of murky pinky/orange strips across the sky, then progressed through the blaze of vivid pink and orange stage to baby pink across the whole sky, and now ths sun is actually coming up in a haze of gold. Or it was. It seems to have started coming up, hit a cloud layer, and decided that it's had enough for the day. I think we can all identify with that feeling.

I must do productive things today. Tidying, wrapping, posting etc etc... (and not stay up until gone midnight doing a jigsaw to 'just get this piece done...') Hmm

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 14/12/2023 16:40

Afternoon. Nice day but I haven’t been out. I’ve finished writing the cards so now I’ve only got to distribute them. Hmm

Misty is still in and out of the litter tray when she’s not asleep. It’s been three days now and I would have thought the antibiotic injection would be working by now. 😔

The afternoons start getting lighter on the 16th LetUs but the mornings keep getting darker until the end of the month. We’re getting there though.

That sounds a very pretty sunrise Helen, we don’t see much of it here as it’s behind the houses at this time of year.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 14/12/2023 18:13

Hope Misty feels better soon ❤

LetUsPrey · 14/12/2023 19:39

Evening wenches.

That sounds a beautiful sunrise Helen. I can relate to the jigsaw thing. I’m doing my advent jigsaw and I’m at the point where I can start putting more and more together.

Poor little Misty Sad Hope she’s soon on the mend. Thank you for the sunrise sunset update. That makes me feel a bit better about the lighter evenings coming soon.

There are things I need to do and plan this evening but it’s already 7.40 and it feels too late.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/12/2023 21:00

Evening. The weather's been quite nicer here too, though chilly and everything's still wet underfoot.

Oh dear apricot - cats are a worry when they're ill. I hope she perks up soon without you having to re-mortgage the house for vet bills!

I did get some wrapping done today but not a much as I meant to. <le sigh at self>

Wine for everyone, mulled or otherwise. esp. Fancy
