Suggestions for smallish four door car please :O)

Currently debating trading in my MPV for a smaller car.

Needs to have four doors.

Economical (or no point changing car I have!)

Comfy to drive as spend alot of time in my car.

Open to any suggestions to consider or suggestions not to consider!

Thank you

Honda Jazz!!!
We had one and upgraded to a bigger car, a Toyota Verso, but I still miss my Jazz. It was great. Small but so spacious inside and good upright seating position etc. I would get another in a heartbeat.

VanillaPumpkin · 28/02/2008 18:36

Oh and we had a diesel and it was good on economy and the lowest band to tax etc.

sophiewd · 28/02/2008 18:38

loved my focus now have focus estate

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2008 18:44

wangle99 · 28/02/2008 18:59

Ooo never considered a Honda before... we must have a dealer nearby for me to go have a look see!

Never considered a Citroen either!

Must admit do like the focus - can't think how small they are

See knew it was a good idea posting here!

No, Jazz Jazz Jazz . It is the most MPV-like small car, and comes top of all the surveys and tests, is totally reliable and will live forever!! We so nearly just got a roof box and kept it as our main car.

VanillaPumpkin · 28/02/2008 19:01

Honda are so very very reliable too !!!! And safe.

sophiewd · 28/02/2008 19:02

or ford cmax, friend has one and loves it

McDreamy · 28/02/2008 19:02

I have a friend who loves her jazz, says it has enough room, very economical and fun to drive. (Hi Vanilla )

VanillaPumpkin · 28/02/2008 19:07

cmax is as big as the Verso though isn't it??? Won't be any cheaper to run.

Hi McDreamy . (Oh and it is another of McDreamy's friends who loves her Jazz btw not me.)

Jazz Jazz Jazz!!!

Jumping up and down!!!!

Leaving thread now due to ridiculous obsession that you MUST GET THE JAZZZZZZZZZZ

VanillaPumpkin · 28/02/2008 19:12

Oh . Ours wasn't diesel...the Verso is.....

Tis still GREAT!

Thinking I need to get out more......

VanillaPumpkin · 28/02/2008 19:13

cough

wangle99 · 28/02/2008 19:31

DH just informed me that the Honda Jazz is a car you buy when you are in your 70s - he reckons its an old people's car

What does he know anyway!!!

Will definately go have a look - are they quite economical then to run? What kind of price for car tax?

Mine is currently £160 for 12 months (about that anyway!)

OP posts:
VanillaPumpkin · 28/02/2008 19:36

£56 tax I think. Whatever the minimum is.

Your DH sadly seems to have a point. It is a sensible car and so lots of OAP's seem to have it . DON'T let that put you off though. It isn't like a Rover! You can be glam and drive a Jazz!

Worth a look. I loved the seating position due to a dodgy baby carrying back, and the back seats are higher than other cars so childrens car seats were easier too.

When we changed cars my Mum had to do a double take as the Verso is a really similar shape, just bigger.

You can fit anything in it. The seats move everywhere.

Leaving the thread now.....

I really like my Honda Jazz, and it seems to fit the bill for you (4 doors, small but roomy boot). My DH, who is a car mag bore, says it is voted the best car in lots of reliability surveys. Just read back on the thread and realise I'm saying the same as everyone else - oh well, I like my Jazz too!

kaz33 · 28/02/2008 19:46

I love my zippy little Audi A3

VanillaPumpkin · 28/02/2008 19:47

Um, no. Not everyone else. Just me . In lots of posts .

wangle99 · 29/02/2008 07:24

Have been looking at pictures and reading reviews and it seems quite nice. Have realised I drive past a Honda dealership twice a day on my school run so will get a chance to call in very soon and have a look!!!

Thank you - I can tell you love your Jazz cars!!!

www.whatcar.com/

this is a really useful site - gives you top 5 used small family cars and in depth reviews, info on running costs etc if that's any help. think the focus is an no 1. we just bought an astra which is terrific.

MuffinMclay · 29/02/2008 09:32

Fiat Panda or Punto?
Mazda 2?
Suzuki Swift?
Fiesta?

We're about to trade in an ancient 2 door car for one of the above. All pretty cheap and low insurance bands.

Jazz is a sensible choice, very reliable, and holds its value well (if that is important), but is very personal. I test drove one and didn't get on with it.

DrivingMissHannah · 29/02/2008 09:56

Fiat Stilo. we had one it was a great lil car loved it!! in fact we thinking of getting another one!, we changed it for a zafira but its a long story so i ll just say, you cant go wrong with a STILO!! we had a 5 door one in greyish silver.

holsobsessed · 01/03/2008 04:16

Not sure if it is too small for you but we really like toyotas, and now have the 'new' style Yaris. We love it - its quite nippy and easy to park - but quite roomy inside and bigger than the 'old style yaris'- also less rattly on motorways. Also I have back probs as well since birth andfind the seat really supportive. Plus crucial for us - as I am a newish driver - cheap(ish) insurance.

We changed from a Fiat Stilo -just seen above post which we found really unreliable - and although we bought it from new, had serious probs with the gearbox. Guess we were just unlucky.....

I had a Yaris and it is a great car.

Vinegar · 01/03/2008 10:07

I have the Jazz and love it too. It's getting very popular, loads of our neighbours seem to have it to(in our 20's and 30's not 70's!).
Just wish they did a navy blue colour, not keen on the colours it comes in. It is a good city car, not great for motorways I think.
