Currently debating trading in my MPV for a smaller car.

Needs to have four doors.

Economical (or no point changing car I have!)

Comfy to drive as spend alot of time in my car.

Open to any suggestions to consider or suggestions not to consider!

Thank you

I've just traded in my no longer needed 7 seater for a new little Fiesta and I love it.

It's the new shape (obviously!), is surprisingly roomy for a small car, 4 doors, insurance is just over £100 a year, cheap to tax, to run and has loads of extras as standard.

I was looking for a small Toyota but so impressed with the Fiesta, as you get so much more for your money and it's still very reliable.

(It's nicer looking than the Toyotas too!! )

We have a golf - DH will ony buy german for some reason - safety I think - although whe this goes I am getting a volvo!

The golf is great - very safe, economical (diesel) comfy to drive and I think it gives the impressio of someone who doesn't really care about what they drive as isn't flashy but is a cool car at the end of the day.

Have had it for 2 years and have had no trouble with it other than the PDC stopping but that was just a loose wire which the garage took 2 minutes to sort.

It has 3 proper seatbelts in the back too which is good and means we can get 3 child seat across the back - booster ones that is!

Have no idea about insurance and tax though as I am one of those useless women who really doesn't give a shit about cars and DH has to sort it all out!

Daihatsu Sirion 1 litre engine, comes with two isofix settings for car seats £35 car tax, happily does 75 on the motorway, parking sensors for when children being loud and distracting, air con, cd and seats fold so loads of room for a tip run! Love mine and clock up huge milage a week, very cheap to run and spacey inside. Can't recomend more highly.

I love my Ford Fiesta....have the ghia version so the engine has a bit more 'oomph'. I can do a 4-5 hour drive in it with no probs.

Great to drive round town as well.

hate deisel engines with a passion

Love my Fiesta - it's done 110000 miles (100 mile per day round commute) without so much as a squeak of disapproval. I have the 3 door, but the 5 door should be great.

I clicked on this thread just so I could recommend the Honda Jazz, but I see some people got there first! It's fab, I love it, fantastic boot space etc.

DH takes the mick, though, as most of the ones we see are driven by snowy haired couples in their seventies... I just think they've lived long enough to know a good car when they see one!

One thing though, I've just been quoted £320 by honda dealership for the 25 000 mile service, which seems very high.

My mum hgas a Honda Jazz and loves it

It's surprisingly roomy

Nappyzone · 02/03/2008 18:57

I agree i want a jazz but then someone at work said check out the drivers they are all oap's and most i have seen are but i suppose if you wanted to sport it up you could. If your that bothered by that which im not. The new corsas are nice too.

VanillaPumpkin · 03/03/2008 16:49

See Wangle, the Jazz is the way to go .
Did you see anything this weekend?
My stepmum has the Seat Arosa which is seriously nippy but probably too small, so the Seat Ibiza might be worth looking at. I think they are essentially VW or Audi engines.....

VanillaPumpkin · 03/03/2008 16:49

Ouch, that service is astronomical though .
