ds has asked for murdoch, so he is getting that

dd is non-verbal but ds has asked for percy for her (!). I think she would like a pram and we looked through argos and all she pointed at was dollies and prams so I think she will be happy.

what have yours asked for and what are they actually getting?

The Sylvanian one, enid (she's 6). She already has 100000000 Sylvanian animals, and yet I still feel the need to buy her new ones to populate whatever house-type-thing she gets, so she's getting a squirrel family with it. Not that I'm reliving my childhood or anything.....

katzguk · 03/12/2004 13:32

we took DD (2¼)shopping to have a look and as soon as she spotted a car seat for a dolly she decided thats what she wants, now if you ask her what father christmas is bringing ehr she says car seat for bella. She has also recently added that she would like some more blankets for her Dolls. Anyone got any ideas where i can get some from?

wilbur · 03/12/2004 13:33

I imagine that this will be the last (and first) year I can say that ds is getting everything on his list. The reason being his list is a scooter, a hula hoop, a new Thomas engine (Santa is leaving that at one of his four Uncles' houses) and a new egg cup. I imagine that future Christmases are not going to be this simple. Dd who cannot yet ask for anything, but if she could it would be chocolate, shoes and satsumas, is getting some unashamed girl things to see if we can break the Thomas brainwashing that she is subject to on a daily basis.

I remember my mum fighting (I hope she wasnt actually fighting, just standing in a very long lineup at a ridiculous hour....) for Cabbage Patch kids in the 80's. Sadly I was 14 at the time....... dd now plays with it!

She wants a facepaiting kit for Christmas and thats it. Won't always be this easy will it?

turquey · 03/12/2004 14:15

DS (9) is getting books, audio books, Simpsons stuff and a Newton's cradle. It's his birthday a week later and I'll be stumped. Oh, and I've got him a "Grow your own bacteria" science kit.
DD(6) wants everything, but will be getting a color pixter, a "jump dancer" motorised skipping rope (that's as much for me as her as I will no longer have to stand holding the rope, , and some Polly Pocket and playmobil.
These are not all from us - both grannies have sent money and asked me to buy on their behalf.

Debbiethemum · 03/12/2004 14:24

DS 3.5 asked for a yellow bike with a seat for dolly and a basket like PC Plum. Luckily have managed to get one, only other thing he has asked for is a ball!

DD's first christmas, so is getting a toy box and a not very full stocking, DS's stocking will be overflowing so feeling very guilty about it but how many toys can a 9 month old play with who already has all of the ones DS has grown out of.

I will get dd a couple more stocking fillers next weekend when dh isn't looking!

Hulababy · 03/12/2004 14:37

Katzguk - I'd have a look at somewhere that does cheap baby stuff - maybe somewhere down The Moor, like Ethel Austin, Home Bargains, etc. Surely they'd have some - and they'd be loads chepaer than dolls ones!

Moomin · 03/12/2004 23:13

up until last weekend, when we asked her what she would like from santa, dd (3) kept saying 'don't know'. So we have bought her a disney princesses pop-up castle.
she went to see santa last saturday and he asked her what she wanted. out of nowhere she replies 'a princesses scooter with ribbons on the handlebars'. OMG! so guess which mug hurriedly went out and bought it yesterday?....

WestCountryLass · 03/12/2004 23:18

Ds1 has asked for everything on the adverts and in the Argos and Index catalogue books, at any shop we pass that happens to have a toy in the window!!. But he is actually getting, a few pieces from The Incredibles Film, Turtles Hot Wheels type thingy, a few PC learning games and stationary stuff, pyjamas and a Power Rangers Punch Bag and Magnetix. A few penny type bits in his stocking. His birthday is 2 weeks after so he is getting a Hot wheels Scooter which is what he has defo asked for and keeps asking for.
Ds2 however too young to know so we have chosen a Boobah toy (we hate them too but ds2 loves them and is only 9 months). A walker and baby musical finger paint thingy and a few bits like socks in his stocking.

MarsselectionboxLady · 04/12/2004 13:55

what's baby musical paint? sounds interesting

jamiesam · 04/12/2004 14:08

SantaFio2 - think my ds1 has been talking to yours as he has also requested a murdoch - and a petersam for ds2. Think we may go along with him as ds2 does love trashing the tracks and having his own train might just encourage him to play nicely (who am I kidding - ww3 on christmas day here I should think)

blueteddy · 04/12/2004 14:23

The musical finger paint thingy is a fisher price toy.
It does not use real paints, but I think colours come on to the screen when baby touches it & you can make pics using your fingers.
I think it may do something musical 2, but not 100% sure about that!
It costs £19.99 I think.

MarsselectionboxLady · 04/12/2004 14:29

thanx blueteddy. Will investigate further

GoodKingWestCountryLass · 04/12/2004 22:08

And where have you ladies found a Petersam train??????

noangel · 04/12/2004 22:13

Westcountrylass - A garden centre? Its silver sand for sandboxes, isn't it?

GoodKingWestCountryLass · 04/12/2004 22:21

Oooo, cheers, I'll check out my local one

mumwithnoname · 04/12/2004 22:31

ds1 and dd getting camera phones (15&16) ds2 getting bike (6) Ds2 takes the argos catalogue to bed with him and wants everything that isn't "girlie" thats advertised on the telly!!!!

LIZS · 04/12/2004 22:40

We have Fisher Price Musical Fingerpaint thingy. Yes it plays a funky tune when you press on the screen. You can use fingers, feet(!), the shapes and easy to grip writing sphere provided and works by displacing a gel to reveal the colour palette underneath. However the drawing isn't that clear and the gel spreads back fairly quickly.

fruitcake · 07/12/2004 02:28

My 4 yr old dd can't write yet but does her own version of a letter to Santa. When I ask her what it says, she replies "it's a secret & if I tell anybody, Santa won't come!" Amusing but frustrating. Any ways of cunningly getting around this & getting the info. out of her? No idea what she wants for Christmas.

PaRumPumPumScum · 07/12/2004 03:21

This is a verbatim copy of one of my twin sons' (5) lists:

wistle
increbds kostum (incredibles costume)
increbds acshon fig (incredibles action figure)
fotball
spy kit
truck

So impressed by this spontaneous list from a boy who has spent the whole of the past term struggling (valliantly) with reading and writing that I feel a trip to the Disney shop coming on despite the hellishness of the experience...

Anyone know where I can get a cool whistle? (Is there such a thing?)

My other son hasn't bothered with a list but has informed me that he wants a Robosapiens and a drum kit.

fruitcake · 07/12/2004 10:29

PRPPS, Yes, a reward for such an effort is definitely deserved. What a clever boy! If he's only 5 & can make a list like that, you shouldn't worry Smile.
