Got this dreadful email from a good friend and it reminds me of an 'Urban Myth' . I doubt if it's anything more than utter bollox dreamt up by an idiot......

however, I thought I would show & tell

Guys please pass this along to all the women you know.....

This actually happened a few weeks ago right here in England . It was

early evening and a young lady stopped to get petrol.

She filled her tank and walked into the store to pay for her petrol.
The
cashier told her 'Don't pay for your petrol yet.....walk

around the store for a while and act as if you're picking up some other

things to buy.

A man just got into the back of your car. I've called the police and

they're on their way'.

When the police arrived, they found the man in the back seat of the
girl's
car and asked him what he was doing. He replied,

he was joining a gang and the initiation to join is to kidnap a woman
and
bring her back to the gang to be raped by every

member of the gang. If the woman was still alive by the time they
finish
with her then they let her go.

According to the police that night, there is a new gang forming here

originating from London. The scary part of this is because

the guy didn't have a weapon on him. The police could only charge him
with
trespassing.... He's back on the street and free to try again.

Please be aware of what's going on around you and for your family and

friends. LADIES you or one of your family and friends could be

the next victim.

Please forward this on to everyone you know. Please do not discard this

message it is very important that everyone knows what is

happening.

Please be careful when leaving your vehicle and make sure it is ALWAYS

Locked to prevent this from happening to you.

You are so right. Utter bollox dreamt up by an idiot covers it.
Why do people forward these things? My mum is the worst offender, and my reply emaails have got increasingly snotty, but she keeps sending them.

MicrowaveOnly · 23/01/2008 23:32

urban myth, along with the perfume that knocks out women so they can be raped, and every other dumb "beware ladies...." mail. Why are there never any "beware gentlemen..."?

madamez · 23/01/2008 23:34

FFS this is a classic urban myth with an extra sprinkling of misogyny (the message being: women, stay home, if you think you can be out alone at night then you deserve to be raped). But anyone recieving any such rubbish, if you are at all unsure about it, check on www.snopes.com which is very good on urban legends whether they are about axe murderers or that new computer virus that not only wipes your hard drive but drinks the last of the milk in the fridge and shits in your bed for good measure.

Jackstini · 23/01/2008 23:34

Urban myth or not - it is important to lock your car when you go in to pay for petrol.
Nutters have got in the back seat of people's cars before, if this makes you remember so be it!

Boredalot · 23/01/2008 23:36

I totally apologise for this thread, have just been exploring the 'urban myth' along with 'gang initiation'.

However, Jackstini is right. Lock yer doors girls.

I hate getting these emails too. This one definitely is a hoax. I always check them out on www.hoax-slayer.com. If I find it (and I have never failed to find one yet) I will generally reply to whoever sent it to me and include a link to the page with the details.

You can find that one here

It has stopped some of them from doing it again (or at least from sending them to me, which is a start).

Quattrocento · 23/01/2008 23:39

I honestly do not believe that the OP should have posted that

MrsJohnCusack · 23/01/2008 23:40

this make me FUME because they are misogynistic

and CRAP

and yes, snopes is your friend

Lauriefairycake · 23/01/2008 23:40

what madamez said.

I hate people who forward this crap cos it just puts the fear of whatever into woman to make them stay at home

amytheearwaxbanisher · 23/01/2008 23:41

sounds like crap to me but then i lock my doors while going to pay and why would he ive all that info anyway?

MsHighwater · 23/01/2008 23:42

Better to post it here - with question marks - and get advice about it than forward it to everyone in her email address book, imo.

MrsJohnCusack · 23/01/2008 23:44

if someone can't tell straight off that this is a hoax then to be honest I'm not sure they should actually be allowed out by themselves...

locking your doors is common sense for all sorts of reasons

Quattrocento · 23/01/2008 23:44

at Mrs JC

MrsJohnCusack · 23/01/2008 23:45

sorry boredalot

these are pretty much always total crap

discoverlife · 23/01/2008 23:56

I had the 'wash underwear' one and was nearly sick. I couldn't look at the photo again. Thanks for that link I was able to banish my collywobbles.

madamez · 24/01/2008 00:17

Ooo, what's the 'wash underwear' one??? I'm quite fond of the more mental variety and often have a trawl round Snopes just to laugh at them.

TabithaTwitchett · 24/01/2008 00:22

I suppose this one has an important safety message even if it is hidden by a load of sick shit. Could the forwarders not just relay the important stuff and miss the graphics??

TabithaTwitchett · 24/01/2008 00:24

Boredalot - why not think first or is that wishful thinking on my part?

discoverlife · 24/01/2008 00:26

Please dont click if you are squeemish.

www.hoax-slayer.com/breast-larvae.html

I don't normally react to pictures, but that one just kicked me somewhere primeaval.

discoverlife · 24/01/2008 00:26

Don't if your squeemish, I mean it.

TabithaTwitchett · 24/01/2008 00:31

Why anyway...boring!

Jackstini · 24/01/2008 09:23

Am not squeamish but - bleaurgh!
Although v obvious is photo shopped.
Thanks for the links to the hoax sites though - at least I can check things out now

jellyjelly · 24/01/2008 20:30

I was going to say it had been played with as where is her actual nipple.?

discoverlife · 24/01/2008 20:49

i think that (no nipple) is what instinctivly made me squirm. Im not normally upset by these things but that one touched a nerve.
