we got to 1000 again....made me reminisce about our original thread all those months ago

Bloody hell marmite, all my fingers and toes are crossed for your SIL and her little boy. I can't remember, how many weeks was she? Really hope the little man comes out of SCBU asap.

DS1 has gone to bed already. He said "sick" when I was saying goodnight . Am hoping and praying this does not mean he is going to puke. Baby puke I can handle, toddler puke I can NOT.

marmitemad · 28/02/2008 19:03

thanks for the crossed fingers, have just heard that ds is doing very well and can come off the ventilator soon, SIL is not so good, there were "complications" and they are keeping her asleep with morphine .

sorry for the lack of personals to everyone earlier, was just feeling very emotional at the time.

Fred - Hope you get some answers soon but agree with Egg that maybe they are starting the investigations from the wrong angle?

Egg - I am sending you non-sick vibes down the M3...... I can't handle anyone being sick in my presence, last week had to stick my fingers in ears and hium with window open when dnephew was chundering next to me in the car!

Egg · 28/02/2008 19:13

oh good news for the little lad but poor SIL and I imagine your DH and her DH are horribly worried too. Makes me realise how lucky I am.

Reading your post reminds me I missed replying to Fred's one about the docs etc. I forgot / didn't realise how long you were TTC without success was thinking that you had more mcs since DD3 rather than before, so was thinking that you fell pg fairly easily. I ought to pay more attention .

No noise from DS1 at all. I think/hope he has just fallen asleep. DS2 is still in his car seat (oops, longer than the recommended two hours..) as he has been asleep the whole time since we went to get DS1. He never normally sleeps this solidly apart from at night. Have to wake him in a mo for next feed, can you believe it is already nearly four hours since I forgot the last one . Time flies when you are having fun...

marmitemad · 28/02/2008 19:20

....or on MN???

when I finished posting at 5:30pm I went to see dd in lounge and she had just fallen asleep on floor in front of tv .

Am starting to get a bit worried about her actually but not sure if I am over-reacting?
Today, she has eaten a small amount of porridge, 3oz cows milk, 1/2 pear, 3 chips and 2 bread sticks. totally refused all dinner and is now refusing her bedtime milk .

oops just realised that I shouldn't be saying ds, as he's not mine, hope I haven't offended anyone?

Dropdeadfred · 28/02/2008 19:23

Aww marmite, how could you offend anyone?
I am really hoping your sil will be okay.

Dn't worry about your dd, all my dds always refuse food when they were teething...hopefully that's all it is.

OP posts:
Dropdeadfred · 28/02/2008 19:24

Egg - I find it hard enough remebering my history myself let alone expecting anyone else to decipher it. Please don't worry!

OP posts:
Egg · 29/02/2008 06:55

Morning all, marmite hope good news of SIL this morning, and her little DS.

Also agree with Fred, DS1 hardly eats anything on some teething days (or just some days in general). He had a day a couple of months back when all he had was milk and 5 breadsticks .

DD went 7.5hrs between feeds last night . DS2 did not...

fryalot · 29/02/2008 07:42

morning all.

crikey, marmite! you had a right day yesterday, didn't you!

glad to see that your little nephew is doing ok, what did he weigh? Sending get better vibes for your SIL, please keep us posted (of course you will, but ykwim)

what happened re: the tmi thing? were you desperate or did some just kind of leak out? don't worry about tmi, I think between us we've shared enough details that nothing is going to make us hurl.

As far as dd's eating goes, I really wouldn't worry if she's healthy and fairly lively in herself. If she starts to lose weight and look ill, then worry. Until then, just put it down to teething/not being very hungry.

egg: well done for getting dd to go so long! you must be doing something right! (we'll skip over ds2 not being quite so well behaved ) hope ds1 was ok last night and you had no puke to clear up.

fred: sorry for leaving you with the youngsters. Now marmite has confirmed her youthful status, can I have a prize for being the old woman of the thread?

squonkette update: dp woke everyone up to say goodbye this morning, then fled out of the door as he was late, leaving me with two screaming children who were having nice dreams until daddy disturbed them - got them settled now though. dd1 making herself look gorgeous for the boys at school (she has had her hair tied back every day since it was cut - she keeps nicking dd2's hair clips to have it slicked back as much as poss and it now looks exactly the same as it did before the £45 hair do )

Egg · 29/02/2008 09:58

Hmm, DH might as well have woken everyone up considering they all happened to wake at 6:33, the exact time he left the house. DTs went back to sleep though thankfully.

Tell DD1 to get her lovely hair back down and wow those boys (is she allowed to be wowing boys? My DD will not be allowed until age 30).

fryalot · 29/02/2008 10:11

I'm working on the assumption that if I allow her to wow boys, she won't do any wowing behind my back, and any future wowing that she does will be safe wowing, having had mucho good wowing advice from wow-less me (I think, I'm confusing myself now )

egg - did dh slam the door as he left?

Dropdeadfred · 29/02/2008 10:37

Squonk dd2 did the exat same thing with her hair...beged for her long straight hair to be layeredwith a flicky side fringe..i finally gave in and two days later she was pinning the fringe back andhair spraying every layer back into a smooth pony tail..

Egg, DP says the girls can have 'men friends' When they are 35..if he chaperones them!!! LOL LOL LOL

OP posts:
Dropdeadfred · 29/02/2008 10:39

H tells them they can go to the cinema and he wil sit between them and supervise the sharing of popcorn so no 'gratuitous hand touching' takes place!!

The dds roll their eyes and groan....

OP posts:
Egg · 29/02/2008 10:53

ROFL Fred!

Squonk I think your approach is a good one. And tbh I would hate for my poor DD to have no boyfriends more than I would hate for her to have one. I want her to be popular, just not a slut!

We are watching Toy Story for 2nd time today. We had a tv break, did some colouring, then DS1 decided to veg out again. He was not sick last night, slept solid from 6:45pm to 6:30am, but is definitely a bit quiet and tired today. DH didn't slam the door, it is quite quiet, but if you are awake you can hear it, so maybe DS1 was awake anyway and when he heard it he decided to call out.

Friend coming to see us soon. Hopefully arriving in 15 or so mins.

DD crying. DS1 rushing over to stroke her within seconds!!!

fryalot · 29/02/2008 11:05

aww! how sweet

ds has a doll that he gets all gooey over. Think he'd be fine with a baby...

Dropdeadfred · 29/02/2008 11:06

something you want to tell us squonk...?

OP posts:
fryalot · 29/02/2008 11:07

no

not yet

maybe not ever

but babies are nice, aren't they?

Dropdeadfred · 29/02/2008 11:33

yes they are...
aren't they Egg?

OP posts:
fryalot · 29/02/2008 13:56

hmm... perhaps just one at a time though

Egg · 29/02/2008 16:53

Babies are great!

Easier than toddlers.

Two is ok. But not with a toddler as well tbh. But if I had never had a baby before, two would be hard (does that make sense?).

DD had a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge poo just now.

marmitemad · 01/03/2008 19:00

Hi Zappatas,
I am finally feeling a little better, not 100% but def an improvement after a dreadful day yesterday, dh had to work from to look after dd.

dd still not eating much but spoke to drs and they said not to worry about solids but to make sure she maintains fluids and add extra milk feeds if we like.

SIL is now up and improving but little lad (now named Connor Alfred, wt 5lb 2oz) is sadly worse and has been moved up to the next level of care after they found he has several holes in his lungs. We are visiting SIL tomorrow and hoping to be allowed in to see him.

I made the mistake of trying to get flowers for mums from large garden centre today and also had to buy my own flowers for tomorrow. dh said he had planned to get me some but they would be garage flowers and thought it would be nice for me to choose nicer ones. I also bought myself a large box of shortbread .

Hope you are all having lovely weekends.

fryalot · 01/03/2008 20:25

marmite - good news re: you, dd and sil - not so good for your nephew... keeping my fingers crossed for him.

At least you have flowers, and your dh will probably make a bit of a fuss. Dp doesn't believe in mothers day - a faddy, stupid day invented by Hallmark - he never bought his mother a card when she was alive, and she wouldn't have expected one - it's the little things you do through the year (little being the operative word there ) that matter... etc. etc.

So, I took the kids to the shop today, found what I wanted then sent dd1 into the shop to buy it from the helpful shop assistant who was standing there holding it (it was a box... don't ask )

Dropdeadfred · 01/03/2008 22:22

hmmmmmm hallmark didn't actually invent Mothering sunday...

Fingers crossed and prayers sent for little Connor xx

OP posts:
Egg · 02/03/2008 13:11

Oh marmite poor connor and the whole family. Is it something that they can operate on and he will be ok?? Really hope so poor lad.

Glad you are feeling better and hope your DD is feeling ok too. DS1 is still not really eating much. He managed to force down some Mcdonalds chips yesterday but that's pretty much all he ate all day. He is therefore very tired and a bit grumpy as a result...

I did really well for mothers day, although mainly from my own mum (plant and chocs) and my sis (flowers and balloon sent by interflora) (both of them think I need extra this year as it is a "special" one). My own lovely DCs gave me two cards (DTs only got one between them the cheapskates ) and some deeeeelicious chocs. DS1 did some great drawing on the cards too, nearly made me cry . Squonk LOL at sending DD1 in to buy your present after you chose it .

Right, I am off for a little lie down while it is fairly quiet here. Hope DS1 is ok for nursery tomorrow . Did I tell you the DTs are going to do a day at nursery too after Easter . OK I know it is early etc but it means I will have every Monday to myself to actually get things done, clean the house, do shopping etc and they will be used to spending time there. I CAN'T WAIT!

Egg · 02/03/2008 13:14

Oh Fred, we do also normally call it Mothering Sunday, as that is what it actually is, but I tend to just say mother's day as it is easier sometimes. I do always spend a long time choosing my mum's card to ensure it does say Mothering Sunday, although was thoroughly peed off this year as bought a huge one as only nice one (ie not crappy old fashioned ugly one) that said Mothering Sunday on the front, only to get it home and find it bloody well said Mothers Day inside .

Oh, forgot to say DS1 made me a card at nursery! He stuck lots of coloured bits of paper onto the front which are shaped like leaves and petals. Very impressive [proud].

fryalot · 02/03/2008 18:16

oh, I know Hallmark didn't invent Mothers Day (or Mothering Sunday) but when he's got a bee in his bonnet about something, it's easier to leave him to it. To be fair, he doesn't believe in Fathers Day either.
