Morning all. Head seems improved, still feel tired though. <is broken record>

Last night's excitement was DH rescuing a baby magpie from KillerKitten ( and then having to keep him shut in to give it a chance to get somewhere safe), and then DH and DS helping to get a tick off my back. Rock'n'Roll eh? Confused

It's cloudy and sunny outside, with a fairly large flock of geese<nto> flying over just now. Today's plans are very boring - work.

FancyFancy · 24/05/2022 13:12

Thought I'd posted yesterday 🙄
Was rather knackered yesterday after spending most of Sunday gardening. Still the bed is a lot tidier, I found some weeds to repurpose & the compost bin was nicely topped up so yay! Not so yay, have several nasty bites, so am chugging piriton & slathering myself in anti histamine cream.

Did manage a short walk with FancyMan yesterday and then mowed and fed the weeds lawn. No thiiiighs to watch as it was a rest day in the Giro, so watched an episode of Heroes. ArtistSanti is now off the drugs but I suspect is going to be killed off soon. Booooo 😡

ApricotCrush · 24/05/2022 16:46

Afternoon. Reasonable weather, but it threw it down again at school pick-up time. How does it know I don’t possess an umbrella? Fortunately I stand under trees so didn’t get too wet.

DH won’t be happy about the rain. DS has had the day off and they’re trying to get the roof on the cabin. 🙄

Hurrah for nice facial and baby magpie’s escape, boo at tick, other insect bites and ArtistSanti’s imminent demise.

LetUsPrey · 24/05/2022 20:05

Evening wenches.

That’s very inconsiderate of the weather Apricot. It’s weird how it knows the time. Waits for 5pm too and then stops about 30 seconds after I’ve got in the car. Hope the roof’s on.

Oh no at many bites Fancy Sad Perhaps the cyclists could pop over to you on their day off to help with the slathering.

And the tick doesn’t sound much fun Helen? Hurrah for headache going though.

Do you have a definite moving date Wicked?

I helped a very senior (in position not age) person with a very simple task today because they’d do a few parts of it wrong. Apparently “the computer system” had done it wrong. Okay then.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 24/05/2022 21:44

We signed the lease from 1st of July so I’ll probably move in then 😀

Just finished The Chestnut Man on Netflix, quite creepy at times, can really recommend it.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 24/05/2022 21:55

Ah - those devilish computer systems and their ability to do things by themselves Hmm <eye rolls>

Good news on the compost though. I've ordered a boshaki bin thing, since we don't get a food compost collection thing in these parts.

Today we've had a bit of thunder (no obvious lightning), rain and hail. I managed to avoid being outside in it though, so that's something. DH found a dead magpie this morning Sad

Alas poor HeroSanti - he is not long for this series - he is bound for better, swordy/beardy things Grin Dr Aramis would be good at sorting those bites Fancy - just saying... Grin (I'll ask Dr Athos to take a look at mine.)

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/05/2022 07:27

Morning all. It's a bit sunny, but mostly cloudy - the weather could go either way. What to wear for BoringOfficeJob....? I also pinged awake at 5:40 in a panic that I'd slept in - then registered that it was 5, not 6am. <le sigh/yawn>

I had a bonkers dream about seeing The Batch at the theatre, moving seats for a better view and then not being able to find the auditorium after the interval (stairs that ended mid-flight, etc). It turned out that the theatre was like a cinema - different 'screens', and the new one for the second half was smaller and was accessed through a photobooth Confused I also lost DS's school shirt in the first half (I'd been carrying it about with me) and couldn't go back in to find it. The play was also a bit rubbish and lots of people walked out.
<books self in for psychoanalyasis>

Have a good day all!

LetUsPrey · 25/05/2022 07:38

Morning wenches.

That’s bonkers and a half that dream Helen. And yes, those damn computer systems that just do things themselves and weirdly always do it wrong.

Good news on the move date Wicked. Be here before you know it!

We have rain. Appears to be quite a lot of it at the moment. Doesn’t stop hayfever symptoms being keen though.

FancyFancy · 25/05/2022 13:28

Excellent dream there helen suitably baffling.

Mostly work and dodging showers here, all very dull. I have booked a summer holiday with FancyMan and miniFancyMan though, so something to look forward to. Well I say I have booked, what I mean is that he booked it and my input was mostly to insist on upgrading my seat as I can't do a week on one small carry-on bag 😁 It's going to be warm and with me hot-flushing away I will need fresh clothes!

Great news about getting a date set ww

ApricotCrush · 25/05/2022 17:00

Afternoon. I did some tidying up in the garden this morning as it’s bin day.

DH has turned the heating off, it is the end of May after all, but I’m so cold. I’ve got a heated throw that I snuggle under in the evening so I look forward to that.

Will have a look at that series WW.

Hope the hay fever hasn’t been too bad today LetUs.

Yay for holiday Fancy, sounds lovely.

Sad at magpie although I’m not keen on them. Bonkers dream Helen.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 25/05/2022 19:32

Evening wenches.

Ooooo at holiday Fancy! Hope it’s fantastic. You deserve it.

We’ve had our heating off for a couple of weeks but I’ll still snuggle under your heated throw with you Apricot. And I still have my electric blanket on my bed

I’m watching Between The Covers on BBC2 and making lists of yet more books that I want to read.

FancyFancy · 25/05/2022 21:45

Heating off here for several weeks as I turned it off for some reason and am too lazy to turn it back on - take that Putin 😂I do like a hot water bottle in bed though - I find it very relaxing, although as sleep aids go it's not really an all-weather one.....

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 25/05/2022 22:17

Evening all. Have been domestic choring and then playing MarioKart with DS (Parent/child bonding, etc)

Well done on being booked onto a holiday Fancy - no such luck here!

I don't know when our heating last came on - if the house goes below 16 it will kick in, but I can't see that happening. I layer up if I get cold. Or move about a bit more Grin
I also like a hot water bottle, though not in warm weather.

LetUsPrey · 26/05/2022 07:28

Morning wenches.

Raaaaiiinnnnnnn. Might suggest a bit of Mario Kart to DS2 tonight.

Didn’t sleep very well last night and have been mostly awake since about 5. Today will be fun then.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/05/2022 07:46

Morning all. No rain here (yet) and also woke up early, though not 5am Sad
<passes matchsticks>

Today I have work, decorating, visit from friend with small child. And faffing online... IdiotKitten thinks decorating is fun (hiding under dust sheets to ambush passing feet, etc) - I may postpone that part of the day until he's flaked out in a food coma. Confused

FancyFancy · 26/05/2022 13:39

Working at home today - dealing with other people's spreadsheets. They seemed very well organised when I spoke to them about it, so fingers crossed....

Still awake letus?

Layer up helen? Do you mean you put another cat on? Grin

ApricotCrush · 26/05/2022 17:28

Afternoon. Went to Lidl earlier, it’s warmer out than in. Hmm

I had a surprise visit from DD and DGS this afternoon after school for a catch up natter.

Grin at put another cat on.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/05/2022 20:53

Can't layer up with cats Fancy - not unless I want to instigate a fight Confused Nice idea though Grin (I have IntelligentCat snoring next to me on the sofa.)

Today has been fairly productive work-wise, but also a few frustrations hen potential fixes turned out to be dead ends. It's also been dry most of the day, but we just had a downpour.

The surprise visit sounds great Apricot My visit from Friend-and-small-person was fun, though I split hot chocolate on my leg (in shorts) and ended up looking like I'd had a fake tan accident. Then there was an accident with orange juice, and I became a walking chocolate orange. Sadly no HBFs were nearby to take advantage. <le sigh>

LetUsPrey · 26/05/2022 21:12

Evening wenches. Lots of rain, let’s say “challenging” people and situations at work. Have had a bath though and started a new book so feeling rather more relaxed.

😁put another cat on.

A surprise visit and a natter sounds top Apricot.

Did the spreadsheets live up to expectations Fancy?

<pushes Helen into shower room with HBFs>

LetUsPrey · 27/05/2022 07:40

Morning wenches

More rain and really quite chilly today.

Friday though so that’s something. I am planning a bookshop visit tomorrow. Going to take some in that I just can’t get going with and then see what else is in the second hand books selection.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/05/2022 07:41

Morning all. Nice and sunny here. Tiiiiiiiiiiiired, but hurrah for Friday.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 27/05/2022 17:28

TFIF Wine

So, I think I might have hemorrhoids, hurts like hell and dripping blood. It's better today though so hope it's on the mend. Got the hemorrhoid creme I ordered today, yay! Hmm

Holiday sounds great Fancy, where are you off to? I might have looked at flights to London in november, we'll se what happens. I miss M&S Grin

ApricotCrush · 27/05/2022 18:03

Afternoon. Sunny afternoon, washing dried and I sat outside and sudokued.

Oh WW haemorrhoids are miserable. I’ve got a chronic one that threatens to pop out regularly. It doesn’t bleed but I use the cream before it gets too bad and that usually works. Hope yours clears up quickly.

Have a lovely evening all. Wine

Shock Ouch wicked sad]

I spent the afternoon baking, and can conclude that mascarpone butter-creme icing is nauseatingly sweet and my cake would be much nicer without it. Also, recipes that say 'bake for 30-32 minutes' should also allow for another 15 minutes baking unless you're aiming the the 'lava cake' effect.

We are watching Batman Begins and DS in in heaven. I would do a sudoko, but the lights are off for atmospheric viewing. Tomorrow we are hopefully off to see Dr Strange.

LetUsPrey · 27/05/2022 21:45

Evening wenches.

Oh Wicked you poor thing. They really aren’t a pleasant thing to endure <understatement> Ooooo at possible trip!

Rain, wind, quite chilly.

I just stick to making flapjacks now with baking. I know my limits Grin

Saw Doctor Strange a couple of weeks ago. Rather enjoyed it.

Watching the tennis now and then an early night. It’s been a bit of a shitter of a week at work, DS2 is a ratbag at the slightest thing, and I’m knackered. I do have a Pimms though.
