Venture made my dp cry - BASTARDS...

We got a voucher from dp's brother for our civil ceremony and over a year later finally got round to having our photos done.

Went to 'preview' them last night and they were of course gorgeous photos - just stunning.

But... our voucher entitled us to one 10" x 8" and they were insistent that the photo we really wanted (and our second and third choice) couldn't be made into this size. But they could be made into a 7" x 5" but we'd have to pay £100!

We ended up paying and dp was soooooo upset and angry that they'd taken us for a ride. I knew she was on the edge of crying and we just about made it to the car...

She phoned this morning to cancel the order and we're insisting on having the free 10" x 8" but it's heartbreaking because we couldn't afford the layout we wanted and they'll probably crop the picture so it's rubbish anyway.

Sooo, I know it's been said on MN many times before, but don't go to Venture! Definitely not worth it and definitely a horrible hard sell at the preview - tainted the whole experience and we hate that there are stunning photos of the boys that we'll never have

Actually I'd threaten trading standards. If the voucher says 10 x 8 and you want one particular picture in 10 x 8 then they ought to give it to you. It's ALL DIGITAL so it's bollocks about can't do it, won't more like because they want you to spend a grand on a load of photos

I'm so sorry you had a bad time with Venture Dotty.

We were chuffed with our pics though and there was no hard sell at all. The pictures sold themselves. That's why we came away having spent way more than we planned but I still love the pics 6 years later.

Agree with WWW, check the voucher T&Cs....if there is nothing that says you are restricted in your photo choice don't stand for it!!!

Dottydot .. this has been going on for years. I think it's time for another airing on Watchdog.

Go on to their website and put your case. If they've an interest in the story, they'll contact you.

I think it's horribly unfair that people are treated like this. So do something, love. Stitch the buggers up.

Thanks everyone - it really was such a horrible experience going to the preview and being treated like scum. The photo session itself was great and I was thinking of buying a session for our parents for Christmas - no way now.

I couldn't believe they couldn't make the photos we wanted into a 10" x 8" but could make them into a 7" x 5" - was wondering if Hub or any other photographers could help with this one and we felt the bloke showing us the photos (the one doing the hard sell) was trying to blind us with science...

Anyway, it's done now but I've been wanting to vent on MN for 24 hours so I'm glad I've got it off my chest!

They're not peaches, they're just SAYING they can't. They can make every photo into whatever they like, they could do a 100 x 600000 if they bloody well wanted to

Agree with DottyDot too...Watchdog good idea.

Or at hte very least threaten to take them to watchdog. See if that gets you what you want.

yes, but not only one, the others you wanted too (that couldn't be made into that size) and presumably, they knew your voucher was for a 10x8 so should have made sure that at least some of the photos were in that format!

I hope you gave them hell dotty. It's not right at all.

Dp is so upset about it. I tried to stay calm and kind of went into 'work' mode, but last night when we'd gone to bed I was really upset

Hang on a minute...a 108 is virtually the same as a 75 in terms of proportions...it is justa bit bigger.

If they can make a 75 there* is no reason whatsoever they cannot technically make a 10*8 of teh same print.

SMS - that's what I thought!! I was trying to puzzle it out and couldn't think of any reason at all why a photo that could be 7X5 couldn't be 10X8, but he was insisting.

Anyway, we've ordered the 10X8 but I bet they hack it to death just for the hell of it, which is a shame 'cos it's a beautiful photo and I'm virtually phobic about photos of myself but it really is wonderful of all of us
