Was listening to the radio in the car today when 'Everything I Own' by David Gates came on. Previously used to just dismiss this as a soppy love song but since I found out he wrote it when his dad died, it turns me into a crying wreck.

Don't mean this to be a sad thread but what other songs always have that effect on anyone else?

Zion, Lauryn Hill, beautiful song all about her choice to keep her baby when she was just about to make it big.

I love Leonard too...especially I'm your Man - the whole album is just heart-meltingly gorgeous. He has to be the sexiest grandpa on the planet. Take this waltz...aaahhh.

Flying without wings makes me really tearful. Especially with the lines "and your the place my life begins and you'll be where it ends". I just have to look at my little girl and I well up.

Prettiest Eyes - Beautiful South 'Just take a look at those crows feet, sitting onthe prettiest eyes ...' blub blub
Eric Clapton - Tears in Heaven, after I found out he wrote it when his son died.
Brown Eyed Girl - Van Morrison. Cos I have a wee brown eyed girl ......
And 'King of the Road' by Dean Martin cos it reminds me of my Grandpa.
Oh, and on the church front I can never sing 'When I Survey the Wondrous Cross' without cracking up.

Definitely 'unfinished sympathy' by massive attack and Lauren Hill's 'ex-factor' - "tell me who I have to beeeee, to gain some receprocity, cos no-one loves you more than meeee, and no-one ever will...." Sing it Lauren....

woke up v early this morning and spent ages listening to the new Roddy Frame album (used to be Aztec Camera - I know, I'm sad & stuck in the 80s..) which is full of weepies...a man who's definitely not frightened of his feminine side!

Phil Collins' 'You'll be in my heart' from the Tarzan film ... used to listen to that when DS was in hospital having an op when he was 4 weeks old ... still makes my bottom lip wobble.

try a little tenderness - Otis Redding, the best song of all time

joben · 09/11/2002 20:38

Love and Affection by Joan Armatrading (cos I'm not getting either at the mo!)
Rod Stewart's version of The handbags and the gladrags (theme from The Office)

I know it has already been said, but "Everybody hurts...sometimes" REM. God even getting emmotional just thinking about it.

Also get quite emmotional about that "Search for the hero inside yourself" , M-People.

leaving a tearful toddler at nursery and then driving home listening to 'Protection' by Everything But the Girl. Very tear-making.
