Good evening, Clunkers!

Welcome to the Breakfast Club where the kettle is permanently on, the drinks flow and the snacks are both self-replenishing and calorie-free.

We start each day with a look at history and a tribute to a brave or inspiring woman. Mostly though, we just chat randomly about current affairs, recipes, life in lockdown, literature, music and anything else that comes into our heads.

Veteran Clunkers welcome. Anyone else who wants to join in the chat - sense of humour essential! - welcome.

Kettle's on ☕️☕️☕️

Grin Grin Grin

The butlers have a night off? Are we expected to get our own drinks then?

S'ok, I've sorted mine and Nelly's. You lot can help yourselves.

Evening all👋 Late check in for me too. I'm very very glad it's the weekend but I have to confess I haven't stepped foot outside the house today (weather has been pretty grim here) so will have to make sure I get out for some fresh air tomorrow.

Thanks as always for the OTD Lily. Tracy I'm like a homing pigeon🐦when chocolate and drinks are mentioned.😊

Hope everyone is doing ok and Yellow I hope things are improving for your partner.

Nellyyy thanks for the clock reminder, I remembered it yesterday but hadn't given it another thought today😶 (not quite sure what this emoji is but I thought, what the heck, I'll pop it here anyway).

TheFleegleHasLanded · 24/10/2020 19:04

Some of the butlers have the night off, they are 'walking out' with some naice young ladies. But rest assured, our rota ensures we are never light on butlering. We just occasionally need them to go above and beyond their calling (apparently the kitten bathing is going down very well with the young ladies and the butlers concerned are making the most of it).

I can see you and Nelllyyy are sorted for now Tracy but those glasses will need refilling at some point Grin

Why on earth would you hide malteasers under the kittens?

Oh well, next time I'll just bring dreamies with me too!

Nelllyyy · 24/10/2020 19:07

MrN came home and with him came a 12 pack of Krispy Kremes... 😁🍩👍🏻

Evening everyone, love the pictures of drinks. I will ask one of the butlers if he can get me a similar sized one Smile.

The weather is dreadful outside. We just had a stroke of luck, the TV stopped working for a while (lack of satellite signal due to the weather), but it is now working again, hope that will continue 🤞. It is quite nice watching TV with a fire when the weather is bad. Anyone have any recommendations?

Nelllyyy · 24/10/2020 19:42

The rain is absolutely belting down here.☹️💨🌧

TeflonTits · 24/10/2020 19:54

I was cooking dinner Nelly, which was just disappointing to be honest.

The vegegatarian swedish meatballs were passable, but the noodles were just dry even thoguh id tried to make a sauce for them.

Oh well.

I have taken myself off (no one else was interested) to watch some escapism tv, All Creatures Great and Small (the 2020 version) and am enjoying it. I think I'd quite like to be a farmer in 1930s Yorkshire.

You sound down again Moogle, come on we will get you through this.❤️

Swedish meatballs are dry Moogle, passata tomato sauce all the way Moogle, cheap, just add your own flavourings, you can get different sizes as well.

Ikea meatballs use gravy, very tasty as well. ❤️

I forgive you for nicking my Maltesers. 😁❤️

Nelllyyy · 24/10/2020 20:31

@TracysShoulder, Strictly, I think Nicola will be on last. 💃😁

TracysShoulder · 24/10/2020 20:38

Nelly, I'm persevering with it Grin but MrT has decided she's the star of the show and will be on last lol! He's disappeared.

I have really enjoyed that Stormzy, just the thing for an autumnal evening.

We’ve been watching a very enjoyable German series called Weissensee. It’s a few years old but unfortunately neither me nor dh can speak German and it wasn’t until dh found out about a gadget that allows American subtitles to work on DVD players in UK.
Sometimes on mn posters say that oh there was plenty good about the former East Germany.
Maybe they should watch this series to see what an appalling regime it was. The power the Stasi had was terrifying and the consequences of stepping out of line don’t bear thinking about.

TracysShoulder · 24/10/2020 21:06

She did really well didn't she. So light on her feet, as you would expect really.

She was. 😁🥊💃

This thread is moving so fast can’t believe we are now just past half way. 😁💃🥊

Ooh, two good recommendations here, I will look for those Smile. We settled for an old Midsummer Murders for tonight. Predictable but enjoyable.

Teflon, did you buy the meatballs or make them from minced meat? If you made them (might work with bought as well, especially if you smash one up in the pan Smile), try using 1dl calf stock to “clear the pan” and get all the juices and then 1.5 dl heavy cream together with 5-7 fresh basil leaves. It is really tasty. Especially together with mashed potatoes and lingonberry jam.... My grandmother used to make that.

DistantShores1 · 24/10/2020 21:23

Those drinks look very heavy Tracy, let me help you with those.

DH and I popped in to Sainsbury's for bread, milk and Oreo bars on our walk this afternoon and I managed to spend £29. So much for not needing anything.

Currently watching The Cube with Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton.

MissSarahThane · 24/10/2020 21:24

I'm working on a long document. I've got two versions open on the laptop. I'm moving sections around and adding new bits. I'm getting in a proper old muddle.
