Keep your filthy disgusting cats at home!

My 3yo son just ran across my front lawn and jumped in the car. On the way, he's trodden in cat poo ( there's a regular offender, and no, it's not fox ). There's now cat poo all across the back seat of my car. I'm first trimester, and horrified at the prospect of toxoplasma, even though I know the risk is low.

This is on the background of my aracuana chicks being stolen by cats from my own back yard. I don't care how lazy you think your cat is - research has shown that even the most placid cat will kill 2-3 animals per night if allowed to roam.

Keep them locked up ffs! If you can't keep them inside, make a run. If you can't do that, keep rabbits instead.

You should really lock up your chicks if you can't protect them from predators seriously irresponsible ownership, have you thought about getting a rabbit instead?

I think the same, I couldn't imagine letting my cat out, people don't let dogs out and I'm sure they feel just as much of a need to 'roam free' they're badly bred wolves who need exercise to not destroy your house but keeping a dog locked up is fine.

They were locked up. Damn cat found an opportunity. I've never lost any others too any other predator.

This never goes down week on here but I absolutely agree.

We don't have pets but my daughter walked cat shit on our brand new flooring today after playing in the garden, when I went outside I realised it was everywhere so no. The bastards don't even have the decency to bury it.

We haven't lived here long but ndn told us it's been a recurring problem from a house backing on to ours - the owner doesn't take any notice but complains when his dogs frighten her cats by barking when they go in his garden 🤔

I don't mind cats but can't understand why they are allowed to roam free and shit wherever. Have a housecat, train it or let it fend for itself in the wild imo.

You will get loads of people coming along saying cats bury their shit - they don’t and it is disgusting . We have just had a lovely summer because our old NDN who had 3 cats has moved and we can finally use our garden without having to check the grass for cat shit . I like cats but I do think that people who own them should have to cat proof their garden so they can’t roam around .

Even if they do "bury" poo, it's just a layer of dust kicked on top. Doesn't stop it squishing into the tread of shoes! It's still a health hazard, too - toxo lives a long time in the garden.

We moved to a new place last year and same problem, it's so frustrating. We got some noise emitting sensors from Amazon and they seem to work pretty well - cost us a few hundred to cover the best part of the garden but more than worth it not to have to worry so much about our toddlers lifting cat poo.

Sounds effective - although I resent spending so much money just because other people can't look after their pets properly.

We have an 7ft fence all round which I assume requires walking/jumping on to get in so I'm considering cat spikes.

My 4 cats poo in corner of our garden as dh puts down a new sack of peat every month and they like to bury poo in soft matter such as peat. My cats like to climb the trees and sun bathe in the garden. They are neutered so don't really roam and spend most of their time indoors but do go out now and again if it is sunny.

Yup. We have many that shit in our garden. It's so annoying and they like to dig up new bulbs and plants too.
Dont really know what the solution is though.

Totally agree .

I just cannot stand cats ... or their owners who let them shit all over my garden.

Agree.

Disgusting shitty animals.

Actually cats are incredibly clean
I keep all my three inside so no random shitting in anyone’s garden.

Cats are also territorial so it Will likely be one cat which might even be feral and just lurking in that area

@UsernameNotValid be prepared to face action from anyone’s cat you injure through the use of cat spikes

@SelkieQualia
I’ve had three cats during pregnancies as long as you don’t handle cat shit with bare hands and are careful you won’t get anything awful

Can you really, hand on heart, say that they don't leave the garden? Trackers fitted to cats show that they travel much further than their owners think they do.

It's great that you've given them somewhere to poo, but that does not mean that it's the only place they go. Also, they will roam to hunt - desexing does not prevent this.

Cats are very clean. Maybe you should keep your 3 year old locked up.

Cats give a lot of people pleasure op.
They're an affectionate lovely animal that is nice to touch and be cared for..surely you won't begrudge people that?
I know you've said keep inside or to your own boundaries and personally I agree because was I to have a cat I'd be too afraid of it succumbing to poison/dogs/cars. But you know, some people do things you don't like? It's life.

@shesgonebatshitagain cat spikes are perfectly legal and cause discomfort and difficulty when said on not injury so anyone who lets their animal roam freely without ensuring their safety is welcome to try to take "action" 😊
