Evening
Pop Will Eat Itself were from round your way apricot Smile

Not sure I would class them as that trendy though - they never took themselves too seriously Grin

DD doesn't know whether to celebrate or not - notified tonight she needs to self-isolate. But it's nearly half term so she won't be missing much school and it's her birthday next week. She'll be spending her bigbirthday sat at home with me. It's a good job we made a contingency plan yesterday - binge watching a series on Netflix & cheese, pasta & prosecco already bought.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/10/2020 07:43

Morning all. That sounds like an excellent birthday plan for DD Fancy - though maybe not what she had planned...

It's raining. There was a meteor shower last night, apparently, Wildlife report: One bat. Two disgruntled crows (a lesser known indie band from Liverpool in the late 80s). Not even the pigeons are stupid enough to be out yet. Geese are about, but heard rather than seen.

I think it's going to be a hot chocolate day at work today. Preferably delivered by leather-clad HBFs, but I think I'll probably have to just make it myself.

LetUsPrey · 21/10/2020 08:13

Morning wenches.

Sounds an excellent birthday plan Fancy. Sometimes the ones that can’t be the usual type of celebration turn out to be a lovely day. Also there’s still the scope to —eventually— have the big celebration too Grin

at lesser known indie Liverpool band.

Think we have much rain forecast for pretty much most of the day. Oh good, because there’s not been enough of that recently.

FancyFancy · 21/10/2020 08:36

GrinGrinGrin @ indie band. So true!
Rain here too. And wildlife hiding away. Ought to get off to work.....

ApricotCrush · 21/10/2020 15:39

Afternoon. Rain all day here too, so no washing done.

I'm booooored. I just went through my stash of knitting wools to see if I could find some inspiration to start something new, but nothing...

I read that as two disgruntled cows. Grin Perhaps I ought to see the optician after all.

That sounds like a lovely birthday plan Fancy.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/10/2020 18:35

To be fair apricot, any cows outside in this weather are probably a bit disgruntled too Grin

Rain all day. Dark again now. meh Sad

LetUsPrey · 21/10/2020 19:31

Evening wenches.

Rain, dreariness, blah.

I was just talking today about restarting my knitting Apricot. I have to get this bloody scarf finished so DS2 can refuse to wear it. I’m going to set a specific time of day for myself at the weekend and on Monday when I’m off to do it.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 21/10/2020 19:47

Is it Friday yet?

Had the weirdest dream that I was travelling on the tube but always ended up at the wrong station.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 21/10/2020 19:49

I read it as cows as well Grin

That sounds like my kind of birthday party Fancy Smile

FancyFancy · 21/10/2020 22:21

I'm actually quite looking forward to it ww Grin make a nice change from work anyhow, which appears to be in over-abundance at the moment.

DD's entire year have been sent home from school now. Marvellous.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/10/2020 23:12

Isn't that just called 'half term' Fancy? Wink What a pain though.

We've been spared that so far, though one friend's daughter is in two bubbles at school - one for core subjects, and one for options. 'Pupil A' in the same 'options' bubble as friend's daughter, but not in her 'core subjects' bubble. Girl A has just tested positive. Girl A's 'core subjects' bubble has been sent home to isolate, but the 'options' bubbles haven't. Confused Clearly the coronovirus can tell what time it's allowed to be in pubs, and what subjects are infectious! I'm impressed.

Local gossip also says that 'The supermarket has it!' which had us sniggering and wondering if the virus is lurking behind the baked beans, waiting to leap out and infect unwary shoppers - you'll pull a tin off the shelf, and Shock - it will pounce at you from the gap you've created! Or maybe you can just buy it. The possibilities are endless. HBFs still aren't on the shelf though. FFS and all that.

On that note, I've finished one bit of sewing now, so I'm going to head for the hayloft...

FancyFancy · 21/10/2020 23:44

Grin Helen I think the staff have probably earned an early half term, must be spending half their time tracing contacts.

LetUsPrey · 22/10/2020 08:12

Morning wenches.

Cold and rainy. DS2 got up without being asked and even did some revision homework. Perhaps it’s the end of days?

Two full years at DS2’s school were sent home two weeks ago. They’re back today. One of the years was Y11. School are doing everything they can but I feel so sorry for that year.

“The supermarket has it” Grin. Not the kind of special offer you’d be looking for.

Better go and get DS2 off to school and then get to work. Can you sense the enthusiasm?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/10/2020 10:43

Morning. I had a lie-in Grin (Once I'd fed the livestock)
Wildlife report - a couple of early buzzards.
Rain gauge - 1.25 cm yesterday, so not vast amounts compares to some...
Fancy - how is the composter doing?

Currently mooching through twitter. We have a trailer for Mank at twitter.com/Binged_/status/1318929239295488001, and a bts Musketeers video (Aramis on the canopy with a raven) at www.instagram.com/tv/CGo2KtJpszc/?igshid=1arooydlm4233

We've just been given some bare-root plants, which is lovely, but now I need to work out where they're going to live and then dig the bed/plant them...

FancyFancy · 22/10/2020 13:55

Composter has cooled right off Sad I think an bintervention may be needed at the weekend

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/10/2020 17:31

OMG. I am knakcered, but the plants are planted. With 'help' from the chickens. I like to think that they think they're helping, but really, they're just watching me dig, and thinking FOOD!!!! and then diving under the fork the second they see a worm or anything else worth snaffling. They're a pain, but also entertaining company when I'm digging. Grin

Get the HBFs to stand by the composter Fancy - maybe their hotness can jump start the composter?

ApricotCrush · 22/10/2020 17:35

Afternoon. Nice day, but I didn't get outside. We keep saying we'll go a walk to the lakes up the road, but never seem to get round to it. Sad

I don't quite know what to make of Mank, but as I won't see it anyway I suppose it doesn't matter.

Grin at bintervention.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 22/10/2020 17:37

Awww at 'helpful' chickens. Smile

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 22/10/2020 18:37

Evening wenches.

Going to watch that Aramis video when I can get a moment’s peace. Love the image of the helpful chickens. They were of course wearing their hi vis jackets weren’t they?

Grin at bintervention

Perhaps you’ll do the walk tomorrow if it’s nice Apricot. A Friday outing.

Email from school today. DS2’s year and the year above are not to go in tomorrow (Covid related) so that’s him until after half term.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 22/10/2020 21:55

The chickens needs H&S training - not a hi-vis jacket in sight.

What sort of bintervention is needed Fancy - if not HBFs?

LetUsPrey · 22/10/2020 22:36

I love that these are an actual thing Grin. I’ll get some in stock for the tav.

The HBFs can warm me up as well as Fancy’s composter.

Hayloft for me.

Swagger Inn 167 - Autumn is here, the days are getting shorter and colder...
LetUsPrey · 23/10/2020 08:34

Morning wenches.

DS2 is so devastated that he’s finished for half term a day early that he got up at 6.15. He very cleverly sought to hide his disappointment by playing FIFA on the Switch 🙄

Looks cold outside so I shall take various HBFs with me to work to keep me warm. They can help with the filing

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/10/2020 10:05

Oh LetUs - I'm in awe at DS2's bravery! (DS has also done similar...) I'm sure the HBFs will be very useful with the filing - they're very good at putting the right thing in the right place

FancyFancy · 23/10/2020 11:57

Morning just about. Feeling sleepy as DD wasn't well last night, so didn't sleep much. Working at home just to be safe but struggling to get motivated.

I can't claim the credit for bintervention - someone else said it first but I'm too tired to remember who Grin

Love the idea of high vis for chickens

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 23/10/2020 13:09

Oh no Sad Hope that miniFancy is better soon, especially in time for her upcoming birthday.
