Right DS will be called Max - Maximilion on Birth Certificate on DPs insistance - but we are disagreeing over middle names.

Need lots of ideas - last name is boring, one syllable and really common - next to Smith I think the most common in the UK!!

My ds is Max, Twinkie (Maxwell on birth certificate). His middle name is Leo (after my brother, not baby Blair). Nice & easy!

for boys i quite like surname type middle names, is there one in your family which is dying out? eg my cousin has the middle name Laird which was our granny's maiden name (she had 5 sisters so no one to carry on the name)

SpringChicken · 19/10/2004 15:33

Does he have to have a middle name Twinkie ??

Where are you and DP from - could it be an irish name, a scottish name etc??

DelGirl · 19/10/2004 15:34

what about father/inlaw/uncle's names?

Northerner · 19/10/2004 15:34

Twinkie when are you due? You seem to have been pregnant for ages!!!!! (I'm sure it feels even longer for you!)

woodpops · 19/10/2004 15:36

Not easy. I'm not keen on ds middle name but dh was adament he wanted Ryan somewhere in ds name so I said it could be the middle name. Am really not keen though. Do you want a traditional name or unusual???

marialuisa · 19/10/2004 15:41

How about something classic like James or Thomas. Would sound quite good i think after Maximillian (assuming that you're only going to say the middle name when using "full and correct").

Twinkie · 19/10/2004 15:44

Well we have so far discounted the following family names (mostly I have) - Walter - reminds me of geek in the Beano!!, Herbert (although must say this one I didn't mind and is both of our grandfathers just thought it might be too much and too trad?? or Stanley DP really likes but Max Stan??

No good South East London names I can think of other than Jason and Phil and Steve!!

Franklyn was a surname on DPs side and one which we thought about but not sure??

Ds has my maiden name which I love. Being Scottish it also indicates his heritage.

Twinkie · 19/10/2004 15:46

Thomas is best friends son and I like James but DP says its a waste of a name and we should pick something we both really like or something that means something (yeah like Walter right!!)

I am due 13th November and yes I have been pregnant for the longest time - considering you lot knew as soon as I did and I knew at about 3 weeks!!

OP posts:
Kayleigh · 19/10/2004 15:49

"a waste of a name" just wait till I see your dp again !!

SpringChicken · 19/10/2004 15:50

Ahh DP's name - that would be nice.
Plus MT* doesn't abreviate anything awful

Twinkie · 19/10/2004 15:53

DP is bored with his name - said he has had it for 33 years and wants something different - think he is just being a tosser!!

marialuisa · 19/10/2004 15:54

Mmm, i guess it depends what you want the middle name for. We wanted a trad name ('cos of weird first name), i wanted a welsh name and it needed to "flow" as i have picked up the family habit of saying (for example) "William Joseph Gardner, get upstairs now!" when wanting to make a pont.

Sorry Twinkie, but Herbert????

codswallop · 19/10/2004 15:54

isnt it MaximilliAN? not being one to be fussy about spelling!

codswallop · 19/10/2004 15:55

George

Titania · 19/10/2004 15:55

my max has got james as his middle name!!!

codswallop · 19/10/2004 15:55

what about Blair as a middlename?

Freckle · 19/10/2004 15:57

Choose two. Then you can choose one each. All three of mine have two middle names and they really like them.

Twinkie · 19/10/2004 15:57

Not sure DP is in charge of spelling I just know its not Maximillion like I first thought!!

OP posts:
Blackduck · 19/10/2004 15:57

do you really need to have a middle name? My dad thought we should give ds a middle name in case he didn't like his first name - I pointed out that in that case he probably wouldn't like the middle one either as we would have chosen both!

JuniperDewdrop · 19/10/2004 15:59

Kingsley or Nathaniel. They're my boys middle names

Twinkie · 19/10/2004 15:59

Ni used to childmind a kid called George and I won;t go into it but I never want to hear that name again an would not call one of my kids it - not the boys fault his parents but brings bad memories!!

Mmmmm Blair - DP says he comes close behind Ariel Sharon and George Bush for biggest tosser in history so not sure Blair good name to call his son!!

OP posts:
Twinkie · 19/10/2004 16:00

Ooohhh Nathaniel or Lucas so far are faves!!

OP posts:
DillyDally · 19/10/2004 16:01
