I was a SAHM for eight years but now my two daughters are at school I work as a temp secretary with hours that can vary and have been doing this for almost a year. I sometimes wonder if I went back to work at the right time and am thinking about whether to cut my work hours right back and spend more time at home.
Just wondered if anyone out there is a SAHM, whether or not or when you are thinking about going back to work and what types of things you do with your time when the children are at school.

Happymumofone,
I don't judge any one who works - ever.
I haven't and wouldn't make any comments about working mums.
I can't believe how often mums judge each other about this. I used to get crap from people when I worked and i get crap from people now i am at home - and it is nearly always women doing the judging. Really don't get it.
I believe that almost always mums are doing what they see as being best for their families.

So when you are saying "you SAHM's are saying xxx" it isn't true.
Some people who happen to be SAHM's were being critical of wohm's. And some WOHM's were being stroppy about SAHM's.
We are not two groups. i wish people would stop trying to draw up those kind of battle lines.
Some SAHM's are nice and some are tossers.
Some WOHM's are nice and some are tossers.
I have been both. And I have been both !

For goodness sakes i cannot believe some peoples pompous attitudes. This is supposed to be a country of choices...........let women/men choose, thats it really. Everyone to their own, surely?? How dare other people look down on women for making the choice they feel is best at the present time for their families???? Ridiculous, obviously too much time on their hands...................

I am a SAHM at the moment. Ds in primary school and I am expecting number 2. Am a qualified nurse but ward I was working on closed when I was pregnant and I decided I didnt want to renew contract and actually have time at home. It is working well for us as a family unit.

Would l0ve to have term time, school hours position (which I had on the ward that closed but wasnt an option for next contract).

Alot of my time in the day is spent in managing the house and animals, also spend time seeing my mum (which I am treasuring).

I think whatever works for the family is what is important. I am very lucky to have a choice at the moment.
