Maremma used to have large swampy areas, is that it, do you think?
Califrau is an expert of all things tuscany

PippiCalzelunghe · 28/10/2007 10:39

oh god don't know either. sorry.

franca have you had an offer on the house?

DD's spots were NOTHING! probably a virus. no impetigo, like I said all along... but no one listen to poor pippi. even the farmacist when I went to get paracetamol for DB who had temp 41 (104+) the other day, laughed in my face saying 'it cannot be 104, you must have read the therm wrong'! WTF??? have I got a dump face or smthng??? He did for two days and was delirious. I really really start to hate anything to do with NHS.

PippiCalzelunghe · 28/10/2007 10:47

dumB not dump...

WendyWeber · 28/10/2007 11:47

I suspect Cf will be asleep by now so I have guessed Grosseto as it's the only place that kind of makes sense.

Now I have another question for you...DS2 was in Venice last week and one of the things he brought home was a packet of Cazzetti d'Angelo - I can see what they are but I wondered what the literal translation is (and whether Italian people would normally eat this form of pasta...??? )

PippiCalzelunghe · 28/10/2007 12:07

'Angel's little dicks' .
No you won't find them in italian cupboards. Hold on, maybe you do in venice? Rosa, what have you got to say?

Please help me now with another medical question re DD.
she's got an itchy bum and 'fifi'. not when she wees but it is red, fifi, and hurts when I touch it. She's asleep now and not sure whether bum is red as well.
what could it be? Thrush, threadworm? what's the best thing to do? do I have to take her to gp or can I do smthng in the meantime and wait and see? how do you spto threadworms. I did check past threads but could not find much.

If I have to take another day off for this I swear I'll resign

WendyWeber · 28/10/2007 12:24

As it's itchy I would think threadworms is the most likely cause, Pippi - if thrush/urine infection it would also be uncomfortable when she wees. You would be able to see the worms in her poo. If you have any Sudocrem you could put that on in the meantime, it's cool and soothing. Good luck!

Thank you for the translation, I thought it must be something like that

hotHELL · 28/10/2007 12:35

ds will be around that weekend, at least probably, are you bringing your kids? dh is away again, can try and ask a friend to man him but not sure if she can at the weekend.
your dd pippi is getting everything, no? what a pain!
we are all getting excited about halloween in my household, yippppeee!

PippiCalzelunghe · 28/10/2007 12:39

thanks wendy.
I'll go to pharmacy and get a treatment for threadworm just in case. will have to scoop up the poo from the toilet as she's potty trained now (vomit emoticon at the thought of seeing worms - pippi has got a phobia for all kinds of worms). I've checked knockers and bedding. can't see anything. are they really 1cm long. yuk. do you always see them?
do i have to treat DH as well? what about me being pg???? oh god. what's going to be next? Bloody nits???

sorry for million of questinions. does anyone knows what happens if I get it?

PippiCalzelunghe · 28/10/2007 12:40

she is mannaggia!!! you might think we live in filth!!!

Rosa · 28/10/2007 13:18

Rosa being dumb.. I thought the rich agricultural landscape in Tuscany was called the Maremma !!!! It couldn't be something like the National parks in that area or the hills or something ( being totally dumb here !

As for the Angels willies I bet they were bought in Rizzo ... One year they were put in sisters Christmas stocking and needless to say they were served on my hen night ..

Pippi if it is threadworms then dd will become more itchy at night . They are easily caught from say a buccia di mela , or anywhere It is not a sign of poor cleaning or whatever as they can be caught by teh cleanest people !!. If it is then wash sheets and towels , treat the family but check if you can take them as it is a mild laxitive and might not be ok for you. Cut dds nails short.

Maratona today I was going to run it but thought it best to leave it to somebody else this year !!!

PippiCalzelunghe · 28/10/2007 13:38

that's what I though so too rosa, about the maremma.

francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2007 17:22

that's what I thought about maremma too rosa
If it's threadworm you need to wash all your bedding, towels etc at very hight temperatures.
I htink the most reliable method to check if they exist is to put a pezzo di scotch sulle mutande di dd... which is not very comfortable.
I was thinking to come on my own. Take an early morning bus on saturday and go back on sunday afternoon. If you want we can meet at a gallery cafe, or wherever is easiest for you to get with ds.
I can CAT both of you (pippi and hotmed) and we can make plans.

OP posts:
hotHELL · 28/10/2007 19:55

Gallery cafe would be great, I will try to get somebody to babysit ds anyway. Tate Modern? We can have a look at the crack.
How do you catch threadworms? From toilets? I think I had them as a child, nooo fun. Will check email for cat thingy.

hotHELL · 28/10/2007 20:28

Sat would be best for me, best in terms of getting rid of ds.
We had a wonderful day today, me and him, but have realised that he hardly plays by himself since starting school full time. He always wants action! I am sure it ain't normal!
Come va con i vermi?

francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2007 20:35

but your ds is not in reception yet, is he? Ds is full of energy since starting school and has become incredibly competitive. He also like to fare la lotta a lot... .
To get CAT you have to check first that your profile allows you to receive it.
I could get into London by 13 and meet you for a late lunch/or cappuccino after lunch or birra or whatever.
No, vermi non si prendono dalla toilet, but often playing with terra. stanno nelle unghie, from unghie into mouth etc etc. sandpit can often be the culprit.

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 28/10/2007 21:01

l'll check for the CAT business. sat is fine by me anytime. Dh will babysit.

chemist said it's not worms. how he decided that I do not know as DD was at home with me. anyway I put sudocream and will wait and see. a bit of a drama the bedtime routine and the girl next door whose paremts are away even dared to knock on the wall after DD was crying for 5 minutes. that sent me over the edge.
but I guess at that age one is stupid enough.

hotHELL · 28/10/2007 21:03

Really? Very crap at cutting nails of ds, surprised he hasn't had them!
Ds is in full time school nursery, he is also more into playing at fighting!
That would be great doing lunch, as long as not too pricy...maybe pippi knows somewhere. Never eaten at the Tate Modern? Have you Pippi?
I suspect Pippi is busy manically washing everything. Have you actually seen the worms?

francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2007 21:04

oh Pippi!
Run yourself a bath, drink due dita (not more, you are not allowed ) of red wine and read a copy of heat...

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2007 21:07

gosh, yes, I tend to forget London prices... how depressing. we could meet after lunch for a nice cuppa

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2007 21:09

Pippi have catted you.
hothell have catted you but to receive it you'll need to change your profile settings

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 28/10/2007 21:17

macche washing. I'm sitting here watchin michael palin and drinking 2 dita dopo un magnifico lamp roast (done by dh).

i was very stressed a minute ago but now I cannot be bothered even doing that.
don't think tate modern has got a nice rest. for what i remember it's a bitt tourity crap. but will check it out. if not there are a few rest on the south bank, near there, walking along the river westside. do you know where I mean hothell. i think it's called st christopher's place.

okay listen to this and give me your opinion: dd's always being very caring. when her friend comes over and cries she always offers things to her and tries to cheer her up and always has a sorry face on. same when her teddys cry etc.
anyway today friend came and was crying because she wanted her mum, DD straight away and out of the blue started shouting 'stop it' 'stop it' with a nasty rottermaier face on.
dh and i were shocked as it's a first.

I do tell her to stop crying at time when she does it for no reason but alway say in italian. i never ever use 'stop it'. dh never ever has raised her voice to his princess and never told her to stop it although he is now paranoid he did.

not a big deal as such but I am sure she was copying someone and I am worried it's the new childminder. I do not want this to be the approach she takes when children cry as most times there's a reason. I've got this suspicion because I have seen her telling a little girl to get out of the room because she was crying (it was a silly spoilt cry that time I must admit).

so am I being an idiot?

PippiCalzelunghe · 28/10/2007 21:20

sorry about sp etc but I am trying to do ten things at the same time.

lunch would be nice. nothing fancy though. after lunch good too.

what am i supposed to do now franca, check my emails?

l am now watching ewan mcgregor.

francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2007 21:26

no, you are not being an idiot. It'd be good to know how the new childminder deals with crying children and of course that wouldn't be right. or the other gilr just got on your dd's nerves ...
you should get an email from mn with my email address to which you can reply

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 28/10/2007 21:34

I've checked but it's not there. is it instant or do I have to wait untill tomorrow? oh and do I have to pay the 5 pounds to receive it. i don't mind paying it.

well no friend did not go on dd nerves as dd adores her, always cries when mum comes to pick her up. I did ask her in many different ways but it difficult to get things out of a toddler as often they just repeat what you say or go on talking about their own things. she said she did not hear it there and that childminder hugs her when she cries.

sure I am making a big mountain out of a mole but it is stressful changing childcare. dd was happy where she was and she was always polite. l'll ask tomorrow anyway. unfortunately I am a bit of a pushover in such occasions. I guess I need to get thickskinned if I want to keep being a mum.

francagoestohollywood · 28/10/2007 21:35

no you don't have to pay for receiving it, I'm paying it. maybe it'll arrive tomorrow.
yes, have a chat with childminder!
