tick 'include special needs'

OP posts:
2shoes · 13/09/2007 17:11

tortoisekinnockSHELL you put that well.

VidiVickiVENIQV · 13/09/2007 17:36

I've always had it ticked.

serenity · 13/09/2007 17:39

Always tick it, often read the threads, but never have anything helpful to say.

ChippyMinton · 13/09/2007 17:55

If you use 'last hour' that includes SN.
Agree, it should be opt out, not opt in.

2shoes · 13/09/2007 18:12

Cappuccino being nosy here. why do you worry so much when you don;t post on sn. or is that because of it being sort of hidden.(hope that makes sense)

Peachy · 13/09/2007 18:35

Dunno about cappucino but whenever Dh does a virus sweep, or I have tor enew my log in, I lose the tick and I often forget to put it in so I never know how long its been since I saw SN and then I worry that i've missed important stuss and been unsupportive iyswim

2shoes · 13/09/2007 18:50

i haye that as it takes ages to stick again(and I can never remeber all my log ons)

Twiglett · 13/09/2007 18:52

I think this is ill-conceived Cap.

I remember there being justifiable reasons for it being the way it is. It does not put off those who wish to be included in that board IMO, it never has.

AlphaMummyVoiceOfReason · 13/09/2007 18:55

I think if you are aware that you have special needs enabled, you will be more careful about checking thread topics. Perhaps it would be helpful to have an "outsiders" perspective - you know, Capp's example thread about her daughter may have benefited from input from posters who don't have a direct interest in SN but maybe have some useful knowledge.

But I suppose that explains why it is opt IN, not OUT.

GessGalloway · 13/09/2007 18:56

oh there were some vile threads, and I think one thread that has gone pearshaped in the last day or so would have gone very very very pear shaped indeed if it had been out there for everyone to throw an opinion at.

With techs all new singing dancing customise convos buttons nearly ready I don't suppose it will be that relevant anyway.

sum1 · 13/09/2007 18:57

I wouldn't tick that box or post in there because there are SN parents here who completely hate my guts and most things I have to say. -- (Obvious namechanger and widely labeled as "not nice" person).

Peachy · 13/09/2007 18:59

My mind must be gone coz I cant think of anyone I hate on MN- oh yes 1, but I dont think its you

Up to each eprson what they click I suppose

Twiglett · 13/09/2007 19:00

wild theorising here sum1 but might that be because you are the kind of person who refers to parents of children with SN as 'SN parents'?

use of words counts when it is all you have

GessGalloway · 13/09/2007 19:04

you could have a point twig. There's quite an active group of 'normal parents' who post on SN so it doesn't seem to exclude anyone who wants to get involved.

From a 1/3 SN parent.

GessGalloway · 13/09/2007 19:05

If I want a general answer to a problem to do with ds1 I post in a general part of the board. I don't think that's forbidden!

Peachy · 13/09/2007 19:08

Am I a 2/3 Sn parent then? Or parent with 2 out of kids who happen to be SN?

gess · 13/09/2007 19:11

hmm well you're going to be tricky because of number 4. Of course I should really be a 1/3 SN parent and 1/3 normal parent and a 1/3 counting my chickens before they've left the age of regression parent...... I can't even beging to turn that into a 'who happent ot have'

lulumama · 13/09/2007 19:13

always include, rarely post as don;t really have any knowledge / expertise worth sharing

have friends with SN children, so i lurk to pick up useful advice..

DS is dyslexic, is that covered by SN, or is that in education? would not like to put my foot in it, as it were....

Peachy · 13/09/2007 19:14

So basically mys status is parent of two kids with sn one witnhout and uincubating an unknown child who could be in either

Its a bit- erm long as a title isn't it? Can I just be me??

Twiglett · 13/09/2007 19:22

read that as 'oincubating'

Peachy · 13/09/2007 19:25

Could yet prove to be a pig

dh's family a litltle erm shall we say genetically sow like (just MIL of course LOL)

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 13/09/2007 19:28

'use of words counts when it is all you have'

Quote of the week.

MarsLady · 13/09/2007 19:30

I already do

PillockOfTheCommunity · 13/09/2007 19:31

I had never ticked it because I sort of thought that it was there because the mums who posted on SN didn't want us to comment.

I will now always keep it ticked

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 13/09/2007 19:34

It's not that comments aren't welcome - it's that posters didn't always realise they were posting on SN and therefore sometimes made inappropriate comments. By having to use the tick box it just makes you slightly more aware that you may be in SN.
