The only person I know that has done it is Jmb. I wish I could cut it down to say once or twice a week but can't. Sad or what. Dh just came in and said get a life!!!!!
It is funny in my house though as we have a queue for the computer. me for mumsnet, dh for the fulham website, ds for minclips and dd loves nick jr or cbeebies. It is so funny as if one of the kids need the toilet they will hold it incase one of us takes there seat.
I din't realise when I bought this in February how much it would take over. The main reason we bought it was to help ds with his homework and SATS!!!!!!

Well i can't. I am on here very day with the odd exception and it is usually on all day. I don't sit on here all day but leave it on and pop in and out.
People are always moaning at me cos they can't get hold of me on the phone.

I even lie now and say 'oh i was just checking my bank balance' or somnething.

Look up, Blossom. Look up and see all those effing cobwebs that weren't there last year. I did it... you can do it too ..come back if you need help! It only took a morning of MN

beansmum · 05/10/2004 21:52

you could start being really rude so noone will talk to you, then it wont be so much fun.

luckymum · 05/10/2004 21:52

Glad you've shortened that - it must take you ages to type it!!

fairyfly · 05/10/2004 21:52

Don't pay your internet bill, works for me

carla · 05/10/2004 21:54

off MN, that's 'spossed to say!

blossomhill · 05/10/2004 21:54

Maybe I should set 2 times a week that I come on here! The thing is my pc is on all day so quite often I just have this urge to have a quick look and then get on with housework etc. I just feel like it's taking over a bit and I don't know how or why!

OP posts:
luckymum · 05/10/2004 21:55

I was having 'a quick look' tonight......been here an hour now! Ds 1 just called on the mobile to tell me he's on his way home - hadn't noticed he wasn't here. Ooops

blossomhill · 05/10/2004 21:58

I wish they would shut it down then I "couldn't" come on here and would lay in front of the tv every night like I used to!

luckymum · 05/10/2004 22:01

They could call 'last orders' like they do in the pub - do they still do that, I haven't been out in ages (too busy on MN )

blossomhill · 05/10/2004 22:04

Yeah they should only be available at certain times.

My ds1 has arrived and is now forcibly 'weaning' me off - he wants to MSN his mates whom he left 10 minutes ago.

That's the answer - get a teenager!!

Amfs · 05/10/2004 22:06

"Time Ladies Please

C'mon you 'orrible lot .. ain'tcha got no 'omes to go to?"

nahh .. wouldn't work for me

emmatmg · 05/10/2004 22:09

I'd love to know the answer.
I have the PC on all day and drop in troughout the day but those 'drop ins' are getting longer and longer. I thought to myself at 8pm I switching this off now becuase this bloody chair is killing my back. I've been in pain all day with it.

Still here so I'll have to crawl up the stairs to bed tonight because I can't stand up straight now[ouch]

tigermoth · 06/10/2004 07:08

When I feel mumnset is taking over my life too much, I read but don't post. Instantly cuts down the time I spend on here. And I write mostly in the early mornings so my day is not disrupted.

handlemecarefully · 06/10/2004 22:58

I used to post constantly and spend far too long on mumsnet - now I post only sporadically and intermittently and often go days without logging on. How did I do this - I had another baby. Sorted! No frigging time to myself ever now - apart from around 22.00 / 23.00 if I haven't collapsed into a comatose stupour.

jamiesam · 07/10/2004 00:25

For people who do want to cut down on MN time -would it help to have a counter of how long you've been on line? (eg I have this function on my phone but only advises when call ends. However, at least lets me know who I talk to for a long time or what times of day I might tend to talk for longer) Absolutley (too late to work out what's wrong with that spelling) no idea if possible for MN to do this, but query request if popular?

Umm, this is a tough one. I have just been absent for a day or so. Just had my hands full with work. My trick was, I had so much to do and so little time I only allowed myself to check email and then straight up from the computer with no dilly dallying!

Of course, I'm soooo glad to be back!

suzywong · 07/10/2004 01:33

start a contentious thread and then take offence?
Be rude and then get hounded off?
Decide it's all too dull and mumsy and you have a much more interesting RL?
Move to the other side of the world and get a new and contrary time zone?

F'd if I know
