Cancelled it because I found out I was 8 weeks pg! We were going to go out as cheerleaders though to shake our pom poms at the boys in town ...

My sis lives in Devon and knows the locals. She chartered a sailing boat and me and 7 pals, 2 sisters went sailing (copius Cava drunk - much fun! The bloke who owned it could manage single handedly luckily!) We moored in Dartmouth, ate on board (courtesy of sisters) opened appropriate tacky hen night gifts, got dressed up and went out on the town... Came back and partied on the boat and then we all bunked down to the worst night sleep ever! Girlie sleepovers - never change! Lots of giggling and no sleeping! Ate a marvellous breakfast al fresco at a beautiful cafe whilst the rain poured down around us, and then had the scariest sail back in stormy weather back to Brixham! Very memorable and didn't cost the earth!

Mine was quite sedate - not an L-plate or inflated condom in sight !

About 8 or 10 of us went to my favourite restaurant for a gorgeous meal and then we went out on the town afterwards. Admittedly there was a little debauchery...

I'd have HATED the L-plates and strippers approach though. YUK

I went to a club called Los Locus in covent garden which is especially for hen and stag do's. You eat there and then it turns into a nightclub. It was a good atmosphere as everyone was either on a hen or stag party.

I organised a hen party this year for my best friend and we went to Center Parcs - that was a really good weekend too. We did the boozey, get drunk bit on the Saturday night and spent the rest of the weekend getting pampered and relaxing.

a bunch of girlfriends and I went to Brighton for the weekend. Excellent fun! Sat afternoon shopping then had lovely meal and hit the clubs ( don't think I've been clubbing since then....) and spent Sun am recovering in various coffee shops reliving it all.

One of my friends held it at her flat for me. About 8 of us. They all made various dishes and we played silly games and generally just had a chilled out evening. I loved it, but then I am not a clubbing sort of girl.

blossomhill · 22/09/2004 14:08

Went to a chinese karaoke and then onto Tiger Tiger for a boogie!

KangaMummy · 22/09/2004 14:17

I went to a restaurant with some friends very quiet. It was a long time ago so before L plates etc.

Went to one a couple of years ago L plates and condom headbands etc.

The last one was a spa day at Eastbourne Grand Hotel then a posh dinner in Hotel restaurant, we all paid our own treatments and dinner etc. so it wasn't all paid for by one person.

I think that the spa day/dinner was the best fun.

DelGirl · 22/09/2004 14:26

I had 3. A weekend in France with about 8 friends, a weekend in Devon with a different another 3 (different group of friends) then the usual meal/nightclub/drunken debauchery. France was best and quite reasonable.

DelGirl · 22/09/2004 14:26

sorry, should have proof read different, another!!!!!

DelGirl · 22/09/2004 14:29

A friend of mine who is getting married next year wants hers in Barcelona. I won't be able to go as I shall have had my dd/ds by then.

lou33 · 22/09/2004 16:56

Didn't have one.

susanmt · 22/09/2004 17:06

I had loads of girlie friends back to my flat, got a huge chinese takeaway, a huge indian takeaway, lots of wine, and had a fab time.

The best one I went to the bridesmaid hired the health club in a hotel for the evening and we all sat around in the jaccuzi drinking champagne out of plastic cups!

CountessDracula · 22/09/2004 17:07

Went out for a lovely dinner with about 15 friends, then met up with dh and his lot back at ours and had party until 8am!

helsi · 22/09/2004 17:14

I went to Funny Girls cabaret bar in Blackpool. Had to book well in advance though but a great night was had by all. I have also been on a hen day when we spent a Sunday at the races. Also been to a Bier Keller in manchetser. That was good fun. I have also been on a day of pampering at a hotel in Sheffield (although I'm sure many hotels will do them if they have such facilities) - we all went swimming then had manicures, pedicures, facials etc and a lunch in the restaurant.

can I just stress that these are not all my own hen do's I have only been married once!!!

Tommy · 22/09/2004 22:13

I had a party at home. My Mum and MIL-to-be did the food, we bought the champagne out of the wedding budget and we had karaoke. About 60 guests - no boys allowed and it was GREAT. I also was very aware that some brides expect their friends to shell out big time for a hen night and I didn't want to do that - they all just brought a bottle. Best party I've ever been to (and I was pg too but no-one knew

SoupDragon · 23/09/2004 08:15

I took my friend to Chessington World Of Adventures as part of hers and we met some of her friends there. I made her wear a tiara/veil and Bride To Be sash all day.

mrsflowerpot · 23/09/2004 08:40

had a party at home, about 10 of us. We went to a day spa place earlier (not everyone came to that) and then had lovely food and so much wine I don't remember after about 9pm. But the photos are baaaaad... It was nice because it was so relaxed, and nobody had unrealistic expectations of the wildest night out, (and it was cheap too).

TraceyP · 23/09/2004 08:44

I wasn't going to have one as the typical hen night antics really make me cringe, but on the night of my dh's stag night half a dozen of my friends turned up to take me for a meal. Very tame, very sedate - although they had made me a hat (traditional around here) which they very kindly didn't make me wear.

melsy · 23/09/2004 08:45

I went to a blues jazz restaurant/club in st james London with a small group of friends. WE got dressed up drank champers and danced the night away. I wouldnt reccomend this place though , although the food was nice it was full of old men with cigars !!!!!

If I was to do it again , id book a pamper day with a small group at the Sequioa spa at The Grove in Watford snd then eat dinner there at the glasshouse. Or any othr equaly(sp?) lovely spa hotel with nice restaurant.

treacletart · 23/09/2004 09:53

hated the whole idea of a traditional hen night so was relieved to just go round to a mates house with female friends for a civilised evening of fantastic food and wine. My heart sank when a gorillagram turned up - I was furious, and if a man in a gorilla suit could look embarassed this one did - until he revealed himself as one of my best friends - I was really touched they'd all gone to so much effort.

mummytosteven · 23/09/2004 09:54

went to yo sushi on south bank in London, then on to School Disco in Hammersmith
