Dha nd 1 Had our hen/stag nights on same night so our friends (a few couple in there) could come over to us and stay the night mre easily. I had a few drinks in the house, then off to a bar and then we went to a Greek restaurant for food, drink and dancing.

Went to a cottage in Derbyshire for a double hen night with a bunch of friends. Quite a few years ago so there was a lot of tits out action - wouldn't do that now, would have to peel them off the floor [sigh] The weekend was great - sadly both the marriages went up the spout!

Decided not to have one second time around but ended up with a spontaneous late night in Soho when I 'missed the train' seeing the same bunch of friends. Ds was 4 months old at the time - evil mummy.

I was 7 mths pregnant at the time, so we had to have a nice quiet sedate one

Dinner at an Indian restaurant just off Picadilly Circus, then over to Madame JoJo's in Soho and then back home in one of those huuuuge stretch limos with a couple of bottles of champagne. Lovely night

I did not have one... my sil had a nice weekend in london with friends - got a good deal with the hotel - most people stayed - I did not - being rather pregnant. We then went out for a meal.

The dinner was brilliant and those that stayed over had a good time - met for breakfast in the morning and then headed off home.

for my hen night i went to CHICAGOS got drunk and played truth or dare! VERY TAME
i did organise my best mates hen night though and it was an all day affair! We went down to the coast, getting drunk on the way, had lunch on the sea front harbour then went bowling! Needless to say the balls did not roll straight! We then went on a boat cruise round portsmouth harbour before heading back to a mates house where we had coctails and music whilst getting ready. Taxi into town where we had a meal at a club and a stripper in firemans uniform (had given hen a mascot teddy in firemans uniform in morning, he appeared in all hen photos so the stripper was cherry on cake) Had a lovely meal with lots of champagne and then a good bogie! A night to remember!

nothing.....didnt have one.........didnt have any friends....

went out to nice restaurant with 6 girlfriends and one platonic boyfriend. it was meant to be immensely civilised, as i'd recently gone to a hennight when several waiters had to carry the bride out of the restaurant before her main course arrived (she was hospitalised) but that resolution didn't last very long

awfully, my boss-of-all-bosses was eating at the same place and came over towards end of the meal, when i was ratarsed, bought us a bottle of champagne and SAT DOWN with us

i then told an incoherent story about walking past jon snow's house and seeing him ironing in the nude, a wild variant on a real event -- i believe i insinuated JS had ironed his willy flat. (i'm very prudish normally)

he left after that

but the worst thing was, the following monday, I emailed an apology

boss never replied

cringing now thinking about it

still apart from that it was pretty lowkey and silly and nice

Can I please interrupt with a what's-the-done-thing question?

I'm going to my very first hen night this weekend, consisting of drinks, then dinner. Am I meant to bring a gift, tacky or otherwise? Bride-to-be is 40, fairly sensible, probably not expecting a giggly, girlie night. What do you think?

bakedpotato · 24/09/2004 17:31

nah, don't think presents are required -- after all, you're paying your way at the HN, right?

expatkat · 24/09/2004 17:37

Yes--& it's not cheap. Thanks for the answer, BP.

Went to a Greek restaurant with a load of friends (most of them nurses) and had a smashing time. Just us and another group (a girl's 21st birthday) so an all female party except for the waiters who were great.
