mumto2nuttybells · 07/08/2007 23:03

I am in lovely posh surrey but they have put a run doen estate right bang smack in the middle of it. Of all the places the council could of put me me they move me here. What a shit hole, we got the whole bunch of wierdos going on here

Peachy · 07/08/2007 23:04

We used to, right oppsite a dodgy pub, with joyriders circling all night and people vomiting over the front agte at kicking out time- oh and the syringes bunged over the fence- opposite us was even a place for storing nuclear fuel trains!

Decided I wanted to go to Uni, so we popped over here for a look- relaised housing was cheaper to rent ehre- so paid same rent on a much nicer area. Actually abit homesick but wuldn't go back to inner town now, just close by enough for family

handlemecarefully · 07/08/2007 23:05

No, but I can imagine it must be awful . I have a close friend who is now a single parent (separated) and it's her great fear that she will soon have to move somewhere not so good.....

I do - very rough estate, feel like everyone is judging me by where I live - and they probably are. I hate telling people my address.

What do you mean you've landed them in a hole and they will never escape?

That just isn't the case - don't punish yourself with that thought

Biglips · 07/08/2007 23:13

why is it rough harman?

EscapeFrom · 07/08/2007 23:15

I feel awful when ds1's mates call for him to go to the park, and I won't let him go, and he cries ... but what can I do? He's four years old, for God's sake, I'm not letting him go to the park on his own!

EscapeFrom · 07/08/2007 23:16

But must point out, Harman, that a lad I went to school with played professional basketball in the USA, and is now in Ibiza doing something well paid - and he was raised by a single mother on this very estate .. so there is nothing to say you or your kids are trapped.

Biglips · 07/08/2007 23:17

Escape - Even if you was in a posh area..i still wouldnt let my 4 yrs old go to the park.....Am i missing a point here?

EscapeFrom · 07/08/2007 23:19

Point being - in posh areas he wouldn't have other four year olds calling round for him.

I do let them in to play in the back garden.

What part of kent you from harmen?

Biglips · 07/08/2007 23:24

ahh righto! i see what you mean now!! blimey!!!

i was brought up in a posh area but wasnt allowed out of the road (lived in a cul-de-sac) till i was 10. Its ok where im living now as its where my dp was born raised, but over the past couple of years he had said it has gone downhill. It is handy for everything and it was close to my work too. The people are ssoooo nice around here but if i walk about 5 mins, i go into an area that is shabby and full of smackheads too!
