Thought I’d go with a gardening theme Grin

Lovely sunny weather

Oh - we saw Graham Norton last night - Andrew Scott was v. funny.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 08/06/2019 22:25

... and Killing Eve lived up to expectations. So much for my early night though.

Hayloft for me...

LetUsPrey · 08/06/2019 23:11

We watched Killing Eve too Helen. Excellent.

I should head to the hayloft too.

Well yesterday was knackering - worked through lunch & a two hour drive home. Did get a good back rub from FancyMan though so not all bad. And the people I had to deal with were all lovely & very helpful. Had a good day today though, met up with a friend for lunch. Had a salad and cake afterwards

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/06/2019 09:32

Morning all.

Kitchen Wildlife: an occasional series
The Stoat.
How do I know if I have a weasel in my kitchen?
Your cat will enter with what looks like a large mexican moustache - light brown with a white under-carriage. When he lays it at your feet, looking smug, you will be able to see that actually it is a sharp-toothed, four-legged, dark-tipped-tailed, killing machine - aka, a stoat.
What should I do with the stoat?
Wait for your cat to eat it, then clean up the remains. When you've given up waiting for the cat to eat it, you can lob in over the hedge into the field next door.

In other news DS is playing a Star Wars game on his xbox - there is lots of Kylo running about.

It is sunny outside so I'm waiting for the washing machine to finish - then it will rain.

LetUsPrey · 09/06/2019 09:42

Morning wenches. Urgh at long journey home Fancy but yeah for backrubs and —cake— salad!

Eeeek at most recent gift from cat, although Grin at the moustache

Sunny here too. Washing in and I have to go and do the exercise thing. Then when I get back I have to get DS1 to do the sportingactivity thing.

I will also be watching the rest of Graham Norton.

Afternoon

That is some impressive hunting helen, I imagine stoats are pretty fierce?

LetUsPrey · 09/06/2019 13:02

No HBI again! I mean, WTF?

I feel more knackered than I did yesterday. I have ironing to do, homework to assist with , visit parents, and then we’re out for a meal.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/06/2019 13:31

FFS at HBI. You're going to have to take him in hand LetUs -

I have just been forcig DS to pack so that he can go on a school trip that he wants to go on. but you know he's not going to pack unless forced. Hmm We won't even talk about the homework.

Stoats:
"This stoat is about to take on a prey 10x his size..." www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=3&v=HNbqvqf3-14
Admittedly, it's a rabbit, and not even Monty Python's white rabbit. But still, yes. I do worry slightly when cats turn up with Mexican moustaches - it seems slightly more risky than necessary.

FancyFancy · 09/06/2019 16:06

Interesting video helen - not least that all the other rabbits seem completely unbothered. I guess if the tactic is to wear down the rabbit, the rest know the stoat isn't suddenly going to change it's mind & go for another, rested, rabbit no matter how close it is.

FFAS HBI. I mean what is the point of a sporting activity without some smut to distract the attending parents? and their weird internet friends

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/06/2019 16:16

Grin at weird internet friends Surely you mean stunningly attractive and fascinating internet friends? Grin

We appear to have a family of stoats in the garden - I just came across a sublimely oblivious one about the same size as the one that InconvenientCat brought in. This one was bumbling around on the woodpile and practically walked over my welly boot before I put down the wheelbarrow and told it off for being stupid - at which point it scuttled back into the wood pile, wiggled through some longer grass, bounced across a bit of lawn and hid in a flower bed. All this was done with an air of mild concern and no indication of urgency. With that level of insouciance I imagine there will shortly be no stoat kits left in the garden!

ApricotCrush · 09/06/2019 17:58

Afternoon. Better weather today, which was good as there was an air show at a nearby RAF base. I was watching it on YouTube on a live stream and I could see them over the tops of the trees. The Red Arrows are awesome.

Is it any cooler today WW?

OMG I knew I shouldn't watch that video. Poor bunny. Sad Oh Helen, burn the garden and move house. Eeeeek!

That's a bit worrying about HBI. Is he still on holiday, or has he left? Hmm

We watched Killing Eve too, very good.

LetUsPrey · 09/06/2019 18:23

Oh FFS weather. Stop. Fucking. Raining.

You could get a job writing for nature programmes Helen. I’m imagining David Attenborough reading your wildlife posts Grin

Shock I’d not considered HBI might have left! He’d better be back soon.

Air show sounds fab

We are trying to leave for this meal out. I’ve been in the car for a while. I’ve left DH to sort out the DC. It’s like trying to keep kittens in a basket.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/06/2019 20:32

We've had lovely weather today - even got the grass cut.

Sorry Apricot - I didn't actually watch the video. However, no need to worry. While we were having tea, Inconvenient cat came in the the/an other small stoat... so we're probably safe from marauding wildlife for now...

Shock at the concept of HBI leaving. We'll have to go all Liam Neeson on him: "I will find you, and I will kill persuade you to carry on instructing."

Hope LetUs and family are having a lovely meal.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 09/06/2019 20:44

Who are these weird internet friends you speak of Fancy Grin

A bit cooler today Apes, we even had a bit of rain.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/06/2019 20:54

I don't know Wicked - but your message was no. 666 Shock

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 09/06/2019 21:12

I noticed that too Helen ShockGrin

LetUsPrey · 09/06/2019 22:20

I have eaten rather a lot and it was quite a relief to get home and take my trousers off, even though it’s for reasons not related to HBFs. Well, not until later anyway.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/06/2019 23:23

Oh the joys of too much food and feeling a bit tubby afterwards... you'll just have to work it off LetUs - that's all. I'm sure the HBFs will happily oblige with the exercise.

So, just watched episode 3 of Gentleman Jack. Previous episodes I'm been Hmm at opening music and Suranne Jones getting dressed up to go out etc in the titles. Because it doesn't half put me in mind of Athos getting ready and going out in S1Ep1... which would be because it's the same composer. I now feel slightly less obsessed (other than the fact that I know who the composer is and recognise the music style of course Grin)

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/06/2019 23:24

Oh, and is anyone else getting the thing where MN page is constantly loading? It's bloody irritating (I keep getting distracted by the loading circle at the top of the screen)

LetUsPrey · 10/06/2019 07:53

Morning wenches.

It’s behaving - for now - for me Helen.

I’m behind with Gentleman Jack. And Years and Years. And Summer of Rockets.

It’s going to take a long time to work all that food off with the HBFs. Shame Grin

It’s sunny here but I have not been fooled into putting the washing out.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/06/2019 08:04

I am not awake. I am in the hayloft still and snerdling.
Weather is Grey and damp here - the weather is not even pretending to fool me, it's making its plans for the day very obvious.

Think we're sorted now?

FancyFancy · 10/06/2019 08:53

Morning

I read 'box sets'
as 'sex bots' Grin

Very rainy here & I have an dental appointment later - a filling needs replacing. Hopefully that's will be all - dentist did mutter 'if that doesn't work...... mumble mumble...... root canal'

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/06/2019 09:41

at sex bots.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/06/2019 10:03

And absolutely LOL at this thread
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3608503-I-m-the-same-age-as-Villanelle-AIBU-to-feel-inadequate-in-comparison?trendingv2=1

I don't know which is funnier - the po-faced ones who don't seem to get the joke, or the ones who do and have carefully deconstructed it all to analyse the pros and cons Grin
