The washing machine is spinning and clouds are gathering on the horizon. But DS got off to school in costume and was happy, plus various forms got handed in for school stuff, so phew. Now the tedium of work... (and hanging out with HBFs the washing shortly)

I forgot about the washing in the machine - FFS. It sat there mouldering until about an hour before it started raining. Though the way the wind is howling about, it got pretty much dry.

Wonder how many twitter comments are already complaining that they don't have an International Men's Day (they do - 19th Nov, but the ones who complain about Int. Women's Day pay no attention to their own day)

Afternoon. Managed to get a wash load reasonably dry this morning, but it's been raining again this afternoon.

Headache went, thanks Dr Athos, but toothache is back now.

AIBU to be pissed off with all these Days. We've had three this week. Pancake Day I can understand but really what's the point of World Book Day, which is expensive and a pain for mothers. Surely it would be better to buy a book than an outfit, which only benefits Amazon or the supermarkets. Now it's International Women's Day which is for..... what?

I suppose next up is Mother's Day which is another marketing racket, like Christmas and Valentine's Day. I like to see the DC of course but I feel embarrassed that they feel obliged to get a card and present. I tell them not to bother, but they still do. Oh, I forgot bloody Red Nose day! I know it's for charity and all that but it puts pressure on people. I think I must be getting old or all these aches and pains are getting to me.

The Days thing I think is heightened because of increased awareness and publicity around everything these days, and the shops/online retailers jump on it and it all gets a bit much. I like IWD. I’m relieved though that the DC having to do fancy dress at school is behind me because I did used to get a bit “oh bloody hell, what now.” Oh and it’s St Patrick’s Day soon

As far as Mother’s Day is concerned, to me (and my mum and MIL) it’s a card and some simple flowers like daffodils. Or in my case hopefully a bottle of alcohol
