Are you 'obsessed with celebrity'?

this 'national obsession with celebrity' .. is it real or is it a media driven farce

I personally have no desire to be famous .. ever .. have no desire to watch or read about celebrities, even major Hollywood stars. Most people I know are pretty aligned with this lack of interest

so how come tv screens and 'news' are still filled with trite about minor people with no talent?

I'm in my early thirties, went to excellent university blah blah (don't subscribe to the economist etc because that's just sad ) and we never discuss BB...

I have to admit that this BB has not piqued my interest yet. I prefer the later stages when there are fewer housemates and proper relationships have formed. I find it interesting seeing how they all interact and I find it shocking how some peoples' minds work.

Most of all I like discussing it with friends. I like that bit more than watching it. I like seeing how our interpretations of behaviour differ and I like good natured arguments about it all. As I said before I think one of the big attractions is that BB is an event that everyone is talking about. It is a shared experience that I can talk about in the pub with people I may not usually have much to talk about with.

I went to two very good universities, have 3 degrees and a good career and I couldn't give a flying baboon's arse about celebrity culture (an oxymoron if ever I saw one) or bb. I am mightily incensed atm as I am bf a 3wk old and had discovered that E4 showed fairly good films in the middle of the night. Alas, no longer as it's 'Big Brother Live' at all hours. Now I don't watch the mindless pile of drivel so can't profess to know, but surely at 3am the live action is little more than sleeping?

"bb is an event that evryone is talking about". I guess that depends what circles you move in. in my mind the world is made up of two kinds of people, those who watch big brother, and those that don't .

I couldn't tell you anything about it, about the contestants, not from any of the shows apart from that Jade goody is common as muck and one series was won by a transsexual. oh yes and they're all thick .
