Swearing on Mumsnet

I am really disgusted at the amount of swearing on a lot of threads. This is a website about being MOTHERS, the highest calling you can have in life. Please clean up your language and find a better way to express yourself.

OP posts:

fishhooks

rabbleraiser · 18/05/2007 21:31

Ha ha, that's funny (yet again), UCM.

Thalia, you would dislike me, as well (and sorry for assuming you were a name change). I thought it was a tongue-in-cheek OP.

I Don't swear loudly whilst walking down the road with fat arse and leggings, though.

One has to draw a line.

colditz · 18/05/2007 21:38

Thalia

Please do not judge others by the same standards you use to judge yourself - it is narrow minded.

I am disgusted that you feel qualified to decide the appropriate level of profanity on a website that I don't believe you moderate.

Being a mother is not a frumping calling, it is biology. If I had known I would be expected to stop drinking, swearing and thinking about sex after having my first child, I'd have probably slit my wrists.

Maybe you have us confused with nuns, they are the ones married to God, and who don't have sex. Mothers are the people quite often married to twats, and, by definition, do have sex.

lulumama · 18/05/2007 21:40

go colditz!! wow !

frumping ..LOL!

EHM · 18/05/2007 21:40

pmsl colditz

colditz · 18/05/2007 21:41

Well.

I dislike the assumption that because I have podded a couple of babies, I have to chance every single aspect of my personality. I'm fine as I am!

colditz · 18/05/2007 21:42

chance-change

Sparkler1 · 18/05/2007 21:42

Flamesparrow and you are such a nice, polite, young laydeeeeeeeeeee in RL

Thalia · 18/05/2007 21:48

Ah back from my bath. I myself let a few choice words slip when things don't go well, I try not to but it does happen. My point is letting it slip is a bit different from purposely typing it in a message you have no idea who is going to read. It IS offensive to some of us, surprise surprise, and especially now I've got a little one in tow. As a boyfriend of mine used to say 'is such language really necessary ?'. It isn't. Get a grip. You know what's really annoying you ? The fact this will actually make you think twice next time you want to spout off. Goodnight now, don't bother posting anymore, I'm going to bed.

LoveAngel · 18/05/2007 21:49

Bet your boyffriend's a bundle of fun, eh?

Carmenere · 18/05/2007 21:50

Thalia is such a sanctimonious and patronising tone necessary?

RedLorryYellowLorry · 18/05/2007 21:50

Is she being a cunny funt? Confused

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 18/05/2007 21:50

Actually, I won't think twice. I never swear on here unless I think it is appropriate to the point I wish to make. Nothing you say would make me think otherwise. Sorry.

SoupDragon · 18/05/2007 21:51

Why is swearing, typed on a website, offensive to you now you have a child??

lulumama · 18/05/2007 21:52

of ourse, thalia, beacsue you posted that OP, we will all be thinking twice about swearing, that is why we are annoyed

fwiw, i said 'fucking' on a thread today, and shocked a couple of people

when i swear here,it is an indication of how i am, i don;lt use it lightly, same as i don;t in real life

EHM · 18/05/2007 21:52

thalia does your lo read mumsnet too?

lulumama · 18/05/2007 21:52

if you swear in RL thalia, how does that make you any different, and by implication, better, than anyone who might type it ehre?

misdee · 18/05/2007 21:53

heh

my brother was trying to teach me how to swear in polish yesterday.

MrsDiorKeanuReeves · 18/05/2007 21:54

lulu - words said disappear into the ethos and written ones are there FOREVER maybe

colditz · 18/05/2007 21:55

Gosh, I bet you didn't find him remotely patronising, and felt like stoving in his head with a fondue set. It's only us inarticulate beasts that would have felt like that about such a helpful and understanding comment.

Please, kindly don't presume you know the reason your post has annoyed me. When I feel like spouting off, I use the word I feel is most appropriate for the situation, and if this is considered by the occasional person to be a swear word, so be it. I actually found your post annoying because of the inherent chauvinism.

lulumama · 18/05/2007 21:56
Grin
LoveAngel · 18/05/2007 21:57

PMSL@colditz.

Fondue set. Classic.

I like you now, just for that one comment.

Chelseamum · 18/05/2007 21:58

holly mackerel! I am always good though!

misdee · 18/05/2007 21:58

BandofMothers · 18/05/2007 21:58

Actually it wont make me think twice cos I love the fact that on here I can say what I like and it doesn't matter.

Cuntyfuckingboolockstwattingpissingfeckingfarkingmotherfuckingsonofagreatbloodybastardleper

After all, what can anyone do about it???

FUCK ALL that's what.

And no, I don't care if it's childish either
