...Swim unaided? quick straw poll, please. my dd is nervous in the water, yet it seems that most of her peers can swim.

yes. Can do 2+ lengths of big pool. She's nearly 6 tho. Dropped her arm bands at about 4.2.

Ds2 can swim (sort of - has 5m badge). He was 4 in April.

So is that 16 yes 16 no?

No. She can swim confidently with a swim vest with a couple of floats in but not unaided. She has just started lessons and has been 3 times. I dn't know of any of her friends who can yet swim unaided either.

Have just checked the swimming badge file - ds1 could swim 5m at age 5, ds2 could swim 10m.

Does 5m count?
