Bath and bed sounds good

Back from voting. Should’ve worn the headphones.

I'm watching a documentary on Alfred the great

Rock n roll

LetUsPrey · 03/05/2018 20:08

I’ve just done DS2’s reading with him. Plague, dead bodies, buboes. The usual cheery stuff.

I’ll have a look for Alfred.

at alphabet fail. O is clearly for Oh dear.

We didn't have voting here.

Alfred the Great sounds more interesting the The Flash, on series 10million and I haven't got clue who people are or what's going on.

ApricotCrush · 03/05/2018 20:17

We normally walk to the polling station and pour scorn on others from our road who go in their car, but tonight we joined them as we didn't think we'd make it with our various problems. Sad

ApricotCrush · 03/05/2018 20:23

Oh, we've been watching the Alfred the Great programmes. The battle they were talking about last week where the Vikings were finally defeated is where we live. Some of it could have been in our back garden. Fascinating. Smile

LetUsPrey · 03/05/2018 20:28

at Oh dear

Apricot, you’ve been suffering with your teeth which can really knock you sideways, and MrApricot has basically only got one and a bit knees. Driving down sounds sensible.

That’s really interesting about the history of your area. Love stuff like that! Boggles my mind a —lot— bit to try to imagine that actual people have walked the same places I’m walking hundreds and hundreds of years ago. Particularly if we’re in Scotland and walking round ruins and forests that haven’t really changed.

I know! A lot of roads round here have got Saxon and Dane in them.

mrsreynolds · 03/05/2018 20:48

In the 1st ep they were just down the road from us :)
(Well maybe 20 miles but....)

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/05/2018 20:51

I think we should have a wench trip to do an archaeological dig in Apricot's garden. That'll sort out* the lawn if nothing else.

Apparently Matthew Mcwhatnot who played Grimaud is going to be a musketeer in Versailles S3 Grin except he doesn't get the leather and grubbiness - he gets the blue tabard and flouncy lace.

*by sort out I mean destroy, obvs. Though it won't make the grubs that are in the lawn very happy either.

ApricotCrush · 03/05/2018 20:58

How interesting Bads, they were everywhere. Oh, and our road is the Roman name for the River Severn so the Romans were here too.

at archaeological dig in our garden sorting out the lawn.

Yes, looking forward to seeing MM in Versailles.

LetUsPrey · 03/05/2018 21:00

Not sure anything particularly interesting happened near here.

Archaeological wench trip sounds fab!

I’ve happened upon Highlander on one of the film channels. I used to love this film and Christopher Lambert. I now see that the film is actually a bit crap - very much of its time shall we say Grin

Cheesy entertainment LetUs I haven't seen it for yonks and shall carry on pretending it's still as good as I you thought it was.

Apparently our village has had comparatively little archaeological work done, and no great claims to fame, so I can't compete on the interesting history really.

mrsreynolds · 03/05/2018 21:55

Im pretty much on the banks of the Trent here apes
I do love a traipse round a ruin :)

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 03/05/2018 21:59

OMG! I loooooved Highlander and Christophe Lambert as a teen. Oh and also Youngblood with Rob Lowe Smile

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/05/2018 22:04

Rob Lowe

Sigh

FancyFancy · 03/05/2018 22:12

Evening, work is most inconvenient - it interferes with faf appreciation. Am now drinking beer & trying to sum up the enthusiasm to do some internet banking

FancyFancy · 03/05/2018 22:13

& thank you for the welcome backs Smile

mrsreynolds · 03/05/2018 22:26

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/05/2018 22:35

Night all...

FancyFancy · 03/05/2018 22:36

Well that's very welcoming of him, but I shall stick to my own list I think, there's plenty to be getting through there Grin

mrsreynolds · 03/05/2018 22:40

Heh heh

mrsreynolds · 03/05/2018 22:40

Really must go to sleep....

LetUsPrey · 03/05/2018 22:40

Grin Helen. We are eternally grateful!

Rob Lowe looks even better now than he did in the 80s. Not sure how that’s possible. S’not fair.

Also came across Streethawk and Airwolf on one of the channels I never normally watch. I was rather partial to Rex Smith who played Streethawk.

Excellent music in Highlander. I also very much enjoyed Christopher Lambert as Tarzan. Can’t think why....

I had a quick google of my town. Apparently they found one Roman coin and one bronze spearhead in the general area, and it wasn’t written about or noted in any way for hundreds of years until the 13th century. Bit snoozy.

Have another beer Fancy.
