Do you know what I love about Mumsnet?

When on the rare occasion those at Mumsnet Towers make an error of judgment that alienates some of their loyal members they are big enough to say, OK, we got it wrong, we are stuck with the decision for now but this is what will happen in the future. We listen to our members.

They don't blithely defend decisions made with pound notes in their eyes in the facer of critisism from several organisations and individuals.

oh but littlelapin you are wanted on that thread

madamenoir · 07/05/2007 22:18

exactly Aitch...why doesn't she/he spit it out...god even the comedy snooker moments look interesting compared to this...

islandofsodor · 07/05/2007 22:21

OK, I'll spell it out.

When Mumsnet accepted a large home page ad endorsing Milupa many regular members were appalled. Several including myself (one of whom was a bfc who gacve support on here) felt that we could not continue to post whilst such an ad was so heavily promoted.

Mumsnet listened to everyone and admitted they had made an error of judgment. There was little they could do about the ad, but similar advertising has not happened since.

Another website with whom I was heavily involved has just accepted Nestle advertising. Nestle is the most boycotted company in the UK. ANy reputable organisation who works with mothers and babies eg NCT, any breastfeeding organisation and many NHS trusts will not work with anyone who is involved with Nestle. This other website refuses to acknowledge they have made a bad judgment call saying that they need the money.

I am deeply upset that theyt could stoop to this.

I get this totally, what is the problem?

The OP is involved with another site which is accepting Nestle advertising and the members are unhappy about it

she is saying how different MN is, as when they accepted Aptimil (not Milupa) advertising and members were unhappy about it, they did a rapid U-turn and said "sorry actually we don't want your money"

FrannyandZooey · 07/05/2007 22:22

LOL

cross posts

I would have been faster but there is an advert making my pc run very slow

rowan1971 · 07/05/2007 22:24

[Franny, is it that shagging armadillo ad?]

islandofsodor · 07/05/2007 22:24

Sorry it was Aptamil (but they are the same company I often mix them up)
