I started a thread a while ago saying i was interested in this, can't find it now but i had it done last night.(a b'day pressie off dh-romantic eh??)

Can't say it was pleasant and wouldn't say i feel any different after having it done but i did find it interesting.
the nurse told me that i was VERY bloated and all that was removed from me was mainly wind and that it looked like i had an intolerance from wheat by the looks of my pooand all of the bloating.
she also said there was evidence of thrush(candida bacterium or something)in the stools and that it's no wonder i can't lose weight.

so i'm a little relieved to know why i can't shift my weight but at the same time don't know what to do about it?!

oh i am def going to do this one day

DeviousDaffodil · 04/05/2007 13:36

I would love to have it done after yearsa of irritable bowel god knows what they would find!
Was it expensive may I ask?

Jomist · 04/05/2007 13:36

If dp bought me colonic irrigation for my birthday, he'd need more than a tube removed from his rectum!

BTW did it hurt at all?

whomovedmychocolate · 04/05/2007 13:38

I'd really hate to be a colonic therapist 'what do you do all day?' 'oh I wash out peoples bottoms for money'

fishie · 04/05/2007 13:40

whomovedmychocolate how apt you should appear on this thread

ash6605 · 04/05/2007 13:47

yes it did hurt-not so much inserting the tube,it's about the width of a finger so if you have ever had a pessary or anything compare it with that.what hurt was the water pumping into you,you feel it going in and it feels as if your intestines are going to explode then all of a sudden there is a release and bits come flooding out.this lasts for 45mins(sorry if tmi!)
my bum bled a little afterwards and is pretty sore today.
it cost £55.

ash6605 · 04/05/2007 13:52

Gosh-it's amazing what they can tell about you by the contents of your bottom.

Jomist · 04/05/2007 13:54

I'm never going to moan again when I get an acrylic dressing gown for my birthday, never ever again

DeviousDaffodil · 04/05/2007 13:54

Do you have to go back for more?
Or is it just a one off tretmant?

PeterAndreFanCLub · 04/05/2007 13:56

did it honk

PeterAndreFanCLub · 04/05/2007 13:56

the bleeding thing cant be right surely

mumto3girls · 04/05/2007 13:58

eww the bleeding doesn't sound nice did they informyouthat might happen?

ash6605 · 04/05/2007 13:59

she has told me to go back after my holiday for more thorough allergy testing(free of charge)and then she will discuss how i can change my diet to cut out wheat and get rid of the candida.
she said until i get to the bottom of that colonic isn't going to be any use to me in the weight loss department(i know there are other benefits of colonic but i was doing it mainly for weight loss)
so not sure if i'd need it done again?

OP posts:
Blandmum · 04/05/2007 14:00

candida isn't a bacteria

ash6605 · 04/05/2007 14:01

no it didn't honk!! PMSL! didn't smell a thing.

the bleeding is very mild, she said it's normal to have a litle trauma bleeding, especially if you have piles which i have had since the birth of ds.

suzywong · 04/05/2007 14:02

Hi Jack - MB my ds1 wants to see a diagram of the iron smelting process do you know of any good websites?

ANd I had colonic irrigationonce and then the threapist offered to cleanse my aura. NO THANKS

I found it quite uncomfortable, being filled with 2.5 litres of water and I'd rather have a good curry tbh, for similar effect

Twinmummyx2 · 04/05/2007 14:02

awww-you really have a poorly bottom...it's kinda like getting your palm read.

I think you are very brave.

[euw] but lol

Jomist · 04/05/2007 14:03

Excuse me for being ignorant here, but is colonic irrigation often used for weight loss? Sounds very drastic

I can give you my acrylic dressing gown if you like - sweat buckets in it - the pounds just fall off

DeviousDaffodil · 04/05/2007 14:04

ash 'till I get to the bottom of it'..hahaha!

ash6605 · 04/05/2007 14:05

mb-could you tell me more about it then please?she was very vague-said we could discuss it more when i go back.i could be wrong with the name

OP posts:
ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 04/05/2007 14:06

That can't be right.. and healthy surely. Doesn't appeal to me at all. Who wants a public dump anyway?

Shouldn't changing your diet do the job more gradaully, healthily and long-term effectively??

Twinmummyx2 · 04/05/2007 14:06

pmsl...how quick some people are!!!
