My car is like a skip on wheels

TerrysChocolateOrange · 18/04/2007 23:25

Sparkling

Valeted on a regular basis.

mamazon · 18/04/2007 23:25

m7y car is even more untidy than the downstairs cupboard...and trust me that is saying something

collision · 18/04/2007 23:26

Mine was a skip til I paid £18 for one of those places where 5 men jump on it and clean it til it shines. Beautiful like new.

Now it is a bit shabbier.

dingolimpet · 18/04/2007 23:26

I emptied my car today , and it filled my front room up, so i put it all back!!
My excuse is I haven't got many cupboards

WendyWeber · 18/04/2007 23:26

Mine is full of rubbish. DH hates it.

giajim · 18/04/2007 23:27

unknownrebelbang · 18/04/2007 23:27

Often a tip...only tidied on a Sunday when DH gives FIL a lift....lasts til Monday teatime usually.

SparklyGothKat · 18/04/2007 23:28

I spend hours cleaning it about 6 weeks ago, cleaned all the mud of the carpet, wiped the dashboard, hoovered it all out but the kids have been back in it now.

OMG. skip, definitely. I am about to sell it and need to do serious slum-clearance - thinking of hiring a skip

crispyduck · 18/04/2007 23:29

there is a funny off smell in mine and I don't know what it is

Just get a valet and go for breakfast on a Saturday morning, so very satisfying.

Linnet · 18/04/2007 23:32

When I got my first car last year I said that nobody would eat or drink in my car and there would never be rubbish in it.

Ha! famous last words. I cleaned out the car last week and removed a carrier bag full of rubbish, various toys, hats, coats, old parking tickets from car park, tissues etc

It's now clean and tidy and hoovered, but for how long?

YG! How are you, flower?

SparklyGothKat · 18/04/2007 23:36

hahaha!! I say the same thing each time I pick up my brand new motability car!! Noone is eating or drinking in here!! My car could be mistaken for the local rubbish tip

12yeargap · 18/04/2007 23:47

My old one was humiliating skip, DS used to make me park away from other cars on school run in case anyone looked in. Now have a nice new Honda Jazz, have kept it clean and sparkly for 2 months now. No eating in it, no muddy shoes, dog only allowed in the boot.

exbury · 18/04/2007 23:52

New car arrives Friday.

I hereby resolve to not let it degenerate into the truly disgusting mess which the old one has become.

Lovecat · 19/04/2007 09:05

Linnet, I said exactly the same when I got my lovely new car 2 year ago...

And it's now a skip. A skip with a crumpled underskirt (what do you call that bit of trim that runs under the doors and serves no actual purpose?) from when I tried to get out of the OH's works carpark and the evil car-eating bollards got me....

Every couple of months when the smell of decaying grapes gets too much for me I give it a clear-out, hoover and polish, but in between times it's embarrassing to look at.

Especially as I keep blithely offering people lifts and then have to watch them recoil as they open the passenger door and see some variation on 5 copies of Metro, half a packet of rice cakes, three empty evian bottles and bits of loose change, receipts etc strewn over the passenger seat and footwell

At least when my horse wasn't on loan I could blame the smell on him....

suzywong · 19/04/2007 09:09

when I went back to the UK for hols, DH got my car valeted.
It took the best part of 2 hours and I had tidied it out before I left.

chocolatechipmonkey · 19/04/2007 10:09

The worst thing is when you find a half-eaten lollipop stuck to the floor.

EmeraldGreen · 19/04/2007 10:13

Bit of a tip - might clean it today actually. Empty drinks bottles in the front that I never have enough hands when at the car to move, toys in the back, possibly an empty used lunch tub from DH, winter coats in the boot... and more than likely pasta around DSs carseat from when I was eating in the car, and gave him some

LIZS · 19/04/2007 10:14

atm it is a tip. Crumbs , dirt , bottles, wrappers, half sucked lollies....

Y0rkshirelass · 19/04/2007 10:16

I read once that a woman's car is like an extension of her handbag, and is usually in the same state inside!
