I saw a woman in the Science Museum today, who really could only be described as having "let herself go"

Grey streaky "hanging" hair, huge arse and fat tum in grey tracky bottoms, footglove shoes, shapeless burgundy tunic top and hanging tits. She really looked like she had given up on life. In contrast, she had three dear little, divinely trendily dressed girls with her. She had obviously put a lot of thought and effort into what they were going to wear (down to the very funky hat one of them was wearing) but hadn't even spent five minutes on herself.

Why?

FOOTGLOVE SHOES SHOULD NOT BE WORN BY ANYONE UNDER 55. EVER. IMHO.

Rhubarb · 16/04/2007 22:50

@ unquietdad that was.

expatinscotland · 16/04/2007 22:51

I wear both Coco and No. 5. Depends on my mood.

Tomorrow will be Coco, methinks.

No Croc's.

I'll be wearing my Fly London heels that Cod also hated .

What are Footgloves?

Spidermama · 16/04/2007 22:52

Dino I think you'll find my ds wears nothing but the finest fairy wings and summer dresses.

Noddy are footgloves standard issue for social workers then?

I'm still laughing about footgloves. I'd never heard of them before this evening.

I have to own up to wearing these though which are probably just as bad. And I have big feet.

SherlockLGJ · 16/04/2007 22:52

It is a joke, I don't really judge.

I do think it would have been nicer to take them to the park and buy a sandwich and tropicana juice from Sainsburys.

My hang up with the SR and FS is the child in the pram, quietly scoffing and picking up no social skills.

But in all the time I have been on MN, I have never ever posted a thread about FS and SR.

But then this is Surrey, dahlink.....so I have never seen it. LGJ scarpers, whilst she still can.

moondog · 16/04/2007 22:52

Love your links LL.

expatinscotland · 16/04/2007 22:53

I have small feet.

Spider, my sister calls those 'Jesus sandals'.

As if she studied history enough to know what Jesus might have worn on his feet.

Rhubarb · 16/04/2007 22:53

I'm going to wear my wedding dress for work tomorrow so no-one can say that I haven't made an effort.

(Can I also just throw in the fact that I saw a butterfly take a piss? Thankyouverymuchly)

Spidermama · 16/04/2007 22:53

Aw thanks noddy.

harpsichordcarrier · 16/04/2007 22:53

LL in beige???

harpsichordcarrier · 16/04/2007 22:54

lol at expat, you are v droll tonight.
I have birkies too but in white and one strap. I convince myself this is somehow acceptable, but the entire village is clearly thinking "locks up your daughters" when they see me coming

PrincessPeaHead · 16/04/2007 22:54

spidey those are really boak-tastic

my GOD there is some vile footwear manufactured these days

Wotzsaname · 16/04/2007 22:54

chocolateface - I'll wait a few years, and store them away

chocolateface · 16/04/2007 22:55

No Spidermama, Birkenstoks are fab. I have exactly that pair. I'm going to get them in silver for this summer.

paulaplumpbottom · 16/04/2007 22:55

I couldn't wear Birkenstocks

expatinscotland · 16/04/2007 22:55

K, I'm going to have to agree w/PPH there.

Those shoes are beyond fugly.

expatinscotland · 16/04/2007 22:55

Bet you didn't wear them with painted toenails, either, Spider .

Shall we start a drive to send you some tubes of Flexitol?

noddyholder · 16/04/2007 22:56

My mum turned up at xmas going on about them She says M&S also do a similar comfy type everyday bra called something similar which she also wears. There is a pair of sandals on the m&s website under footglove and I admit I quite like them Maybe its hereditrary but all her social worker colleagues wear them so am hoping its that I like this thread btw much more in the 'old'spirit of Mn (the footglove stuff not the poor woman at the museum)

paulaplumpbottom · 16/04/2007 22:56

can't remember the last time I heard someone call something fugly

expatinscotland · 16/04/2007 22:57

Yeah, well, did you see those shoes, PPB ?

Spidermama · 16/04/2007 22:57

I wear Birkinstocks because of my big wide feet. So comfy and yet so ugly.
I try to dress them up with toe rings and nail varnish, but there's no getting away from the shape of them.

I'm glad there are Footgloves. It's comforting to know there's somewhere to stoop after Birkinstocks. Post menopausal shoes surely.

paulaplumpbottom · 16/04/2007 22:57

I did fugly is probably the perfect word

MrsSchadenfreude · 16/04/2007 22:57

Spidermama, I have those Birkies. My DH calls them German Lesbian Shoes.
