I'm getting a bit bogged down by the God threads that have appeared and emotionally distraught by some of the abuse threads, so wanted to create a chill-out thread!

I've had a very tiring day, looking after brother and dd, sorting out builders, organising charity do, placating neighbours re. builders, doing 5 loads of washing after finally being able to plumb in washing machine after 7 weeks due to bloody builders again! Now dh has gone off to play squash, have put dd and db to bed and have just opened a nice cold can of lager! Ahhh, bliss!

I think Mumsnet should have a chill-out zone for all those of us who do not want to get embroiled in a serious discussion, but just need to small talk and CHILL! So c'mon then, give us your best chill-out moments and some totally not serious small talk!

The religion thread is getting a bit too deep, but it goes to show how important it is for some people. I agree that we need to chill so...

My best moment of the last couple of days is 11 month old ds hugging me in the supermarket when he was sitting in the trolley. So totally cute and heart-melting. These moments are more precious than anything else in the world, and I'll take them to my grave.

I am having a precious two hours at the hairdresser on Saturday. My dh and ds will amuse each other, and I will sit and read magazines and drink coffee, whilst chatting with my very nice hairdresser. Much as I love dh/ds, I cannot wait for some 'me time'. Also looking forward to a new colour and 'do'.

Rhubarb - where's the abuse thread? Have I missed that one?

SofiaAmes · 19/06/2002 23:06

i can't wait for friday morning 7:30am.....i am so ready to go shopping while the country is watching footballllllllll. I think I'm going to go and buy oodles of chocolate croissants at CostCo. The only fun part of being preggers is the eating for 2.

pupuce · 19/06/2002 23:13

I bought a bikini today at DH's suggestion and recommendation - he hand-picked it...(that has never happened before - the DH part of course) We're off on holiday on Friday... Too late to lose the tummy though !

no but I would like to

LiamsMum · 20/06/2002 04:31

Bloss - no, but I sometimes eat chocolate for breakfast if there's any in the house. (Or chocolate cake - doesn't matter as long as it's chocolate). Rhubarb I'm also going to be chilling at the hairdressers on Saturday morning, then we're off to a wedding on Saturday afternoon while my parents have ds overnight. Then in a week's time we're taking ds up to an island resort for a week (just off coast of Australia) and apparently they've got a great Kids' Club, so I'm going to try and get as much 'Me' time as possible. Definitely looking forward to doing some chilling out.

PamT · 20/06/2002 06:35

I'm having an early morning chill before I get bombarded by the tribe 'wanting'. It is the one benefit of waking up too early. We're going to make the most of the football tomorrow and hit the roads for our weekend away whilst everyone else is glued to the match. Should be much less stressful.

My usual chill out in the evening (once DD is in bed) is to run off to the allotment and water the plants in total peace and indulge in a few strawberries/raspberries straight off the plant.

SoupDragon · 20/06/2002 08:22

I have no chocolate biscuits in the house for that very reason I do, however, have a tub of chocolate chipo cookie dough in the freezer... I wonder if I have the patience to wait until it's thawed and cooked...

Kids are watching Cbeebies and I have to tidy the house ready for the arrival of a 4 year old and a 2 yr old this afternoon. Am hoping for sun so they can play in the garden whilst we (the mothers) drink on the patio.

Sigh... Am I the only one who doesn't get chill out time anymore?

SoupDragon · 20/06/2002 08:24

PamT - watchout! I drove home from my parents' whilst England were playing a couple of weeks ago and got caught by a speed camera I'm usually so careful! The empty roads fooled me into thinking the limit was higher than it really was.

Tissy · 20/06/2002 08:37

Soup dragon- I wouldn't bother tidying the house for a four year old and a two year old!! I don't imagine their mother will be terribly bothered about the surroundings either if you're planning to crack open a bottle of wine (or have I misunderstood "drink"?-I'm sure a nice cup of tea would be equally welcome...)!!

PamT · 20/06/2002 08:40

Speed cameras are a pain, I drove past one a little too fast last week because I was trying to sort out 3 squabbling kids whilst driving. Do you think that would stand up in court as a reasonable excuse? I haven't had a letter yet so I'm hoping it wasn't active at the time. We are starting to get the bright orange ones now that they have been told not to hide them. You still need your wits about you though and end up looking for the blooming things rather than concentrating on driving. But that isn't chilling out is it, someone change the subject quick please!

Tissy - when I say "tidy" I mean put away all the things I don't want them playing with, stuff all the washing up in the diswasher and try to make it look like I don't spend ALL my time chatting on mumsnet and other bulletin boards!

I don't like wine (have tried lots trying to find one I do like) and had planned Pimms instead... looking out the window at the moment, it looks more like tea weather though.

CAM · 20/06/2002 10:31

Pupuce you have no tummy, you have the best figure on mumsnet and are the most elegantly dressed. Only you could wear a bikini after having 2 children, both still very young! Enjoy your holiday!

SoupDragon · 20/06/2002 12:12

Reminds me - I bought a bikini to wear on holiday when pregnant with DS2 because I had a damn good reason to look fat in it!

Who cares what druids chat about as long as its not Gina Ford

aloha · 20/06/2002 12:55

We're going to a house in France with a pool nearly to ourselves, so I don't care what I look like in my bikini (Dh knows the awful truth, ds doesn't care). Anyway I just got out the one I wore when pregnant, and even though I'm still 11/2 stones overweight I still look thinner in it now than I did then (& pretty darn foxy, if I don't have my lenses in..)
