Why do you keep bumping this? Confused

silence1969 · 16/04/2017 10:58

"Keep"? Have done it twice. So that people can see it. Not ok?

In the nicest possible way OP I didn't find it heartwarming. I found it mawkish and boring. I didn't post in order to say that because it would be rude but since you have bumped it twice I assume you do want opinions.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 16/04/2017 11:00

Did you write it?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 16/04/2017 11:02

And no - it's not generally considered necessary to bump every hour or so Confused

silence1969 · 16/04/2017 11:07

Yes I wrote it. Opinions are good but it's as much about the message as anything. So if you didn't like, no worries!

TBH it's not that great and it's a little depressing

But perhaps if you don't keep bumping it, people might be a bit more positive

Pinkandwhiteblossoms · 16/04/2017 11:14

Well, did you want views on your writing or a chance to virtue signal?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 16/04/2017 11:18

I think it's for virtue signalling purposes Grin

The wording is way too flowery

The subject is depressing

And I don't think people are allowed to promote their blogs outside the correct section

JigglyTuff · 16/04/2017 11:23

This is the second man that's come onto MN this weekend to share his heartwarming blog with us.

Maudlinmaud · 16/04/2017 11:24

I also found it utterly depressing Craig.

Pinkandwhiteblossoms · 16/04/2017 11:26

Is it not the same one?

Anyway with regard to this blog I think the lack of responses are because most people found it dull and a bit pointless. It wasn't even a parable but just a ramble of quiet kid with parents who have the audacity to work and wants to die and then doesn't because another kid sits next to him, or something.

I don't like it because it's boring but I also think the underlying message is weird. We should sit next to quiet people in case they commit suicide, or something? Confused

70ontheinside · 16/04/2017 11:30

So what's the message, who is your audience? You're a teacher, you should be well aware of the "invisible middle".

oldbirdy · 16/04/2017 11:33

I rather liked it. My ds could have vanished, if it wasn't for a few persistent friends. Thanks op.

silence1969 · 16/04/2017 11:33

All too aware.

silence1969 · 16/04/2017 11:36

Thank you oldbirdy. It's nice that someone has got it and enjoyed!

OP posts:
Pinkandwhiteblossoms · 16/04/2017 11:37

So is it that those who didn't like it didn't get it?

silence1969 · 16/04/2017 11:38

No Pink. Not at all. Everyone's entitled
to an opinion.

exWifebeginsat40 · 16/04/2017 11:39

colon is not semicolon. 3/10 see me.

Pinkandwhiteblossoms · 16/04/2017 11:43

I think the overall point was completely swamped amid the prose.

I also think the point was a bit weak. It was unclear whether the criticism was aimed at the boys parents, teachers or classmates.

It's a very tenuous and I would go as far as to suggest ludicrous link between someone being isolated at school going onto take their life years later. Suicide in young men is a real and worrying problem. But many suicide victims are not the silent souls promoted by your blog. Many appear sociable and happy.

There was no suggestion (and I notice you posted this in child mental health) that perhaps this young man was clinically depressed - maybe this was meant to be subliminal but even so, I hate, loathe and detest this idealism in existence nowadays that severe mental health problems can be 'cured' by being 'kind.' Ugh!

silence1969 · 16/04/2017 11:47

Some
Fair and interesting points Pink. I don't disagree with some of the things you've said. Thanks for your thoughts.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 16/04/2017 11:47

And is there only value in people if they have a load of friends?

Footle · 16/04/2017 12:33

Jesus wept.
